Things I didn't like:
Defense
I saw Vince Williams in a pathetic attempt to cover a receiver 25 yards downfield.
I saw Chickillo on the field.
I saw patriot receivers running wide open on every play. Everything looked very, very easy for their offense.
The double pass trick play, and every little end around sweep worked well for them.
Brady stayed very clean and comfortable, not necessarily because our pass rush wasn't getting anywhere, but because someone was always wide open immediately. That gets you killed by the pats, every time.
Bud Dupree playing patty cake with a rookie in his first start.... pathetic.
Barron failed miserably doing what he what brought in to do... cover the middle.
Cam Heyward was not noticeable on the field at all.
Javon Hargrave, while he did have one good play where he got a great push into the backfield, was also shown being blocked by the center with no double-team. Completely unacceptable for a 3-4 nose. We need a Joel Steed or Casey Hampton, or we shouldn't be running a 3-4.
Our safeties looked really, really bad. I know, I know, there are plenty of excuses. I'm sure we couldn't have let Chickillo or Matekavic go to have an extra NFL safety on the roster....
The pats were smart enough to double team Watt. Imagine, making adjustments to neutralize a guy that hurts you. I'm sure the belichick and co. were chuckling about this one... "We'll double team Watt and block Dupree with an undrafted rookie... TomBut will never know what hit them! hahahaha!" I hope the rest of the league doesn't realize this...
Offense
Often they cheats had their entire defense within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage and within 1 yard of the tackle box, and we either ran Conner right into it for little or nothing, or threw a 1 or 2 yard pass.
We countered that bunch defense with our bunch formation, giving our receivers no room to work, and our RB no room to run. Ben has to release quickly to a guy that isn't or is barely open, or Connor gets stuffed. Put the ******* WRs on the outside. You know God damned well the Patriots will grab them and get away with it when they're in a crowd like that.
We use the 5 wide, empty backfield too much, when we don't have 5 true NFL WRs. Several times, we could have used the possible threat of running the ball to give a better chance at getting someone open. Play-action sure suckered our LBers and safeties, it could have helped at least a little versus a WELL COACHED team.
I'm afraid our WRs aren't very good at getting open downfield. If this is true, and they don't get better at it, we could be looking at a 5 win season. And Switzer just may end up with 100 catches for 325 yards.
We kept doing what didn't work, over and over and over. Ran the ball too much when it wasn't working, 2 yard pass to Switzer, throw a ******* bomb in disgust.
Drops!!!! You know who you are.
Washington takes an immediate right turn and runs out of bounds untouched after catching a deep pass for a sure TD. WTF???
Very next play, I think, Drop Boy drops another sure TD.
I know everyone loves Villanueva, but he looks very lumbering and slow out there. Please don't try to make him a "pull and lead-block" kind of guy. He's not quick enough. That's a job for a guard, IMO. Oh, wait, Ramon Foster is our LG. Never mind.
ST, coaching
Butler is still the DC. Obviously doesn't know what the **** he is doing.
Tomlin is still the HC. Obviously doesn't know what the **** he is doing.
Switzer is our return man? Is that the best we can do? Really? He may end the season with a 0.0 return average, but I guess he'll catch the damn ball.
Why didn't Tomlin throw the flag on that non-call P.I. on the first drive? Use the new rules to your advantage, CoachTard!
Just let Ben run the no huddle and call the plays. Then, if we're ever well ahead and burning the clock, send plays from the sideline.
I'm not as mad about the field goal down 20 as most seem to be. It was the first possession of the second half. Just get some ******* points, we weren't exactly lighting it up in short yardage situations. Shouldn't have gone 5 wide on 1st and goal from the 6.
I'm done wasting thought on a hopeless cause.
Fire Tomlin and Butler today. Come on Art, Tomlin needed fired after the 2013 season, and has never shown anything to make us think otherwise.
