Game Balls, Game Goats, & FU's........@ Bucs

Well finally get a win in the 2018 season. Wasn't pretty Defensively especially in the 2nd half....saw some breakdowns on the back end. Sensebaugh & Burns both look like **** in coverage....I'm not sure who's worse back there! Sensebaugh should have just shoved Goodwin out of bounds on that TD catch....all he had to do was push him out of bounds. If ShitzMagik doesn't suck donkey balls in the first half of that football game I doubt the Steelers win that one. I'll take the win and enjoy it for a week but I don't see any improvements Defensively.....still too many breakdowns back in the secondary. Apparently Mike Hilton suffered a serious elbow injury.....I don't like the sound of that. Nat Berhe in place of Hilton was AWFUL! Steelers hafta get better control on penalties....155 yds is not acceptable. Without Hilton the secondary is going to be an even bigger mess!

Game Balls:
Ben Roethlisberger - 30/38 353 yds 3TD's - Nice to not see Road Ben rear his ugly head!
Juju Smith Schuster - 9 rec 116 yds - I love this kid for one reason and one reason only he just goes out there and puts forth a tremendous work effort week in, week out.
Vance McDonald - 4 rec, 112yds 1 TD - I loved seeing him absolutely truck that Bucs DB.
Bud Dupree - nice Pick Six and he had some good pressures off the edge
Sean Davis - I thought he had a great game...couple nice pass breakups
Jon Bostic - Played a great game in the middle tonight
Joe Haden - He played a solid game in his return tonight to the field
Ryan Switzer - on that 4th QTR punt that went way over his head....he tracked that down caught it over his shoulder and returned it almost 20 yards to get it to the 35 yd line. Plus a TD catch!

Game Goats:
Chris Boswell - Holy **** kid....get your act together....another missed extra point and a missed FG tonight...almost cost us again!
Artie Burns - Got toasted tonight for a TD.....I think he might be marginally better than Sensebaugh but not much.
Cody Sensebaugh - Not pushing Goodwin out of the endzone on that TD catch was pathetic. It was a jump ball....you need to be more aware of where you are on that field and use the boundary to your advantage.

FU's:
Officiating Crew - FU the Roughing the QB calls are ridiculous. Absolutely ruining the game from this fan's standpoint! Maybe it's time to do what Jack Lambert said 40 years ago....Time to put skirts on Quarterbacks!

McDonald made that guy his *****. Easily the play of the game IMO. I mean there was more critical plays made later by Conner and Juju. But that one stood out as a pure **** you get the hell out of my way.

I'm not sure if I would give Davis a game ball, didn't he had two really dumb penalties?

Ben played lights out outside of one very bad throw.

The win felt great, BUT Tampa gave us this one with turnovers ( Pick six ) , and punt return TD where Berry hit a low liner that was called back.

Boswell just doesn't look confident, and its real problem. I almost wish he'd have a leg injury to non kicking leg that sidelines him for the season. We can't afford these misses, it cost us the Browns game.

We don't need Bell at all. Conner is just as good running it or catching it.

AB's role seems to be diminished. Ju-Ju might be close to even with Brown ( I'm serious ) and his target to conversation ratio is very impressive, plus he's blocks a ton.

McDonald when healthy can be a beast. We saw it in the last playoff game, and tonight. A rare big tight end with power and speed. Please stay healthy.

Our DB's.....UGH. Edmunds broke the ice with his first interception, but had a very quiet game with just one tackle. Too quiet for a safety. Not sure why.

Tuitt? Wake up man. and Heyward can play much better.

Didn't watch the game. We scored 30 in the first half. Why no points in the 2nd half? Did Tomlin go into his shell as usual? There's just no excuse for this team to not keep lighting up the scoreboard.
 
On AB, he is still AB. JuJu is not AB. AB demands double and triple teams and JuJu is the beneficiary of that and he is taking advantage of it.

Shades laughs at the idea of halftime adjustments. Tampa does not.
 
FU goes to the NFL watering down the game. It is UNWATCHABLE! Too many flags, players don't know the rules or what is acceptable. Can't stress this enough. Ever. Damn. Play.

Yes and no. He missed two key tackles that lead to big plays, and gets stupid penalties. His pass defense and breaking up completions has been a plus.

What worries me is Morgan Burnett always seems dinged up, and Edmunds, who has a lot to learn is hardly in on tackles. Does the new positon suit him better? Time will tell.

Holy crap, Hilton gets very little love here. The kid was everywhere on the field until he hurt his arm. I thought it was a break, but he hung out on the sideline for 10min before going to the locker room. After Hilton came off the field, Fitz magically got better. And that's the reason why. Hilton covered everyone underneath, made great tackles and plays on the ball. He may be our best player in the secondary, and with Haden back on the field, Hilton can just go nuts!

WTF happened to Boz? Got his money and sucks the big one. Missed FG's and missed extra points. That just won't do. Better get his head in the game.
 
Big play that made the game closer than it should be, was AB running the wrong route again, it was a back shoulder play on 3rd down that goes for big yards and TB never gets close

You real can’t help yourself about Davis. If the kid led the league in tackles, TFL, sacks, INTs blocked kicks you would still tunnel vision the negative.

This is why you get flamed constantly. Just because a player (in your case any DB or safety) doesn’t record a stat on a play doesn’t mean
He played poorly. Did the player take his man out of the play? cause a misread by the QB? Change the receiver’s route? All scenarios where he did his job, but didn’t get a stat.

Both penalties were BS calls....and everyone on both sides knows it. Unnecessary roughness ...with one foot in bounds? Roughing the QB because the full weight of the player landed on Fitz, who is heavier than Davis? While the presnap penalties needs to stop, the personal foul calls are getting to be ridiculous. It’s like the Clay Matthews tackle, defensive players don’t know what to do when they get there.

“AB’s role seems diminished” LOL, He was getting top coverage double teams and Fitchner tried putting him in space with bubble screens and underneath slants. The TD was all Ben. Audible at the line saw no safety to AB’s side. Beautiful read, AB did the rest.

As for Boz, I make no excuses. I still would feel confident putting him in game winning situations. The field in between the numbers on each end was atrocious, players were slipping all over the place.

I don't know how the coaching staff can game plan all week and the best they can come up with is a bullshit gimmick play to Switzer on the first play of the game. Once Ben actually spread the ball around the offense was virtually unstoppable. Between Juju and Vance, they were open all night with AB getting doubled and tripled. Conner has proven he can catch the ball out of the backfield quite well. Washington had a couple of really nice catches over the middle for us. I'd like to see him get more snaps, especially over Switzer's midget ***.

The defense threw some interesting looks at Fitzpatrick and made him pay. Yes it was sloppy at times and the penalties have got to get cleaned up. We are in a world of **** with Burnt at corner and Sensabaugh as his backup.

Edmunds had a nice INT and return.

Discipline continues to be a major factor for this team, albeit a lack of discipline. The personal fouls need to be cut out. They are going to cost us a game if they haven't already.

Boz, dude, whatever is in between your head go get it fixed. I thought he was back on track and then he doinked the upright on the FG. That damn near cost us the game. We need Boz of sound mind.

Rivalry week on a short week is going to be tough. We need Gilbert and DeCastro back on the right side this week. I wasn't impressed with Finney or Feiler.
 
torn on calling Burns a goat...yeah he got toasted, but was he supposed to have over the top safety help?

also it was a hell of a hit to knock the ball loose for the first turnover by TB.....
 
Our Cbs were in good position on a few of those, they just never located the ball

FULLY agree Cope, he is our unsung hero. Reading some of these post(s) paint a picture of a "D" that is absolutely terrible. Our "D" has bright spots and a lot more than given credit for. TB's "D" has some pretty big holes in it as well not to mention other defenses around the league. Does our's need improvement, H-E-L-L yes but last night showed improvement and the direction is to get better which is the direction they are headed. Can they (the defense) get there, well only time will tell but I'm rooting all the way with what we've gotten and some of these arm chair managers would not be able to roster a team with as many "CUTS" as they would want.

I find it startling that we couldn't score in the second half. TB adjusted , we didn't. Also before the game on a talk show, they talked about opening up with more scripted plays. Not sure of how it helps.

IMO Ben gets the game ball on offense, followed by Mcdonald who stepped up and made a play of the game. But ben gave what we needed. Accurate, leadership. Stood firm in seemingly crazy pocket all night. Connors numbers aren't impressive. But again we were without our starting right side.

Defensively, Hilton was the best. Joe Haden was great too, but we kinda expect that from him so much. But Hilton definitely stepped it up and was a force. Bostic seemed to have a better game also.


ps. I like Watt. He was quiet last night and seemed to not be able to beat that tackle around the outside. And that's really all I saw him try. IDK. Dupree while having a nice pick. Still seems lost to me.
