FordFairLane’s way too early and will piss off the board 2021 Mock Draft

IMO, we need to look at OT first and foremost. Then CB. Somehow, WR, then OLB and interior OL/DL. Unless Trask falls, I don't see a QB worth taking in the first.
Villanueva is getting long in the tooth. He was getting pushed back a bit yesterday.

I like Najee Harris at RB, and feel he might be another good Bama RB in the NFL, but I don't believe he can run behind the OL we have now - with one more year on them.

Haden is going to eventually succumb to Father Time. We all do. It's inevitable. Do we want Sutton to take over at CB? or Layne? I'm unsure how well either would do starting. We saw vs the Redskins that even Alex Smith could pick apart a secondary of Layne/Sutton at CB. The NFL is going to continue making the pass a priority, as it sells tickets and puts ***** in seats while also pulling in huge commercial revenue.

Heinz suggested that we'll likely sign a UFA at QB, as that is our modus operandi. Likely not someone in "Tier 1" but a middle-cost QB to hold us over a year or two. I wouldnt mind if we got Carson Wentz, but doubt he'd be affordable for us. We all know he's better than the scrub **** we have behind Ben.

Highsmith looked pretty energetic out there, but, again IMO, he doesnt have the "It" factor. Bud's gone, but we'll have to depend on Highsmith and Ola for a bit.

I agree Supe. CB is a priority (both nickels are FAs and Haden is aging). Also Edge is a priority (little depth and Bud leaving via FA). I can see those positions going high. We also have to draft a TE that can be serviceable in the passing game but must first and foremost be a run blocker.

You almost have to keep Haden or replace him. The Steelers have a bad CB drafting track record. I think Layne is starting to lean like not starter capable.

Or you could have selected X Howard over Burns as I said. Then we would be fine. You trick record on the draft is dog poop. Mine at least has results.

For example I was really high on DK Metcalf. How's he doing?

Burns was a fall back option for not getting the CB they wanted. It failed. You are delusional when comparing your draft likes with mine you like 20 options then when one hits see see I liked this guy!. When you are ready to do a month ban bet let me know (my game my rules) Before the draft we can do a 5 player possibility who the Steelers could/ should draft. (Obviously top ten player types are excluded) Then a year later we can do a site poll who had the better draft. Loser gets thirty days off. I will go into it in detail closer to the draft. Sound good chicken little?

Fordfairlane way too early mock draft 2.0

okay I've got the edge guy for you

Payton Turner out of UH...of course

6-6 270 had 5 sacks and 10.5 TFLs in the 7 games UH played this season

you did not do any film review....at least not factual review

Oliver did not flash a lot of stats...but he was part of the DL that the steelers couldn't run against. He was in on the sack of Ben and his one tackle was a TFL

I did see Pouncey throw him to the ground on one play though

Our bet was where he would go in the draft and I was right. As was posted a few times, if you had not started crowing about him falling down draft boards as the day got closer, you would not have been banned for losing the bet. Your comments made it seem you felt the bet was still in play, so I treated it as such. Hell it is a bigger accomplishment for him to have gone so high after being injured his Junior season.

Anyway, the bet is history, he is a Bill and I wish him well, but don't really give a **** how his career goes.

LIAR! I did Houston game reviews with a focus on Oliver and posted it here. Several games. I also thought King is a decent college QB and will be drafted. You abused your mod powers on this topic.

As for my pro review on Oliver looks like I'm right. He's lucky to be starting with the production he has!

I just showed you how your draft analysis was a joke. Nothing you do towers over anyone. Maybe window licking you are an expert in that field. Your hindsight isn't based on anything but Walter football analysis and liking a plethora of prospects so you can hang you hat on one. Even then it is usually riding other posters coat-tails. They suggested it and you jump on board like you did with Claypool. Show me the sights you go to for your "game tape" review. I am waiting. We know it is a lie from a habitual liar.

You are too stupid to be a good liar. I listed game tape review on Claypool and said what I liked you dolt. I thought he was a talent and was happy with the pick. You thought he was 3rd round guy! GTFO. Why don't you do what I do ever year. A thread on who I would have picked the day of the draft. I tower over your and think you flat out lack the stones to do it. You know better. Who's coat tails to I ride, list names Mr. Liar.

STFU you were not the original poster who pimped Claypool.

your analysis was slanted due to your personal thoughts. others here looked at the same plays you "reviewed" and explained to you how you were wrong. that is why i stated your review was not "factual" and that is not a lie....it is my opinion

You didn't know **** about King until he went to Miami....

production isn't always about stats. If his playing frees up others to make tackles, he is doing his job.

If the Steelers draft RB in the first I’m going to lose my ****. RB is the least of the problems on this team. RB is also one of the easiest positions to find a cheap vet in free agency. Guys like DeAngelo Williams are always floating around.

They must address OL. Pouncey is nearly done and has already talked about retirement. Decastro seems to be slipping a bit as well. They need to draft a great C. I think the kid from Iowa may be the guy.

If they were to go elsewhere, it would have to be TE if they can get Penn State’s Pat Feiermuth. He can be a complete TE and they can use a TE that can both block and catch. Right now they don’t have any TE that is particularly good at blocking.

as for C - why dont we pickup Will Clapp off the Saints practice squad? dude is miles ahead of Sievenauer (who shouldn't be active or on any PS anyway)

So you want to give the Steelers the Clap, it is like I am hanging with my Marine friends in the Philippines again.[emoji16]

Just did several mock drafts using a bunch of simulators just for fun.

FANSPEAK:

1.30 DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
I've been talking about OL since last year's draft, but Smith is a terrific prospect with excellent hands.

2.62 Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
Notre Dame pumps out good offensive lineman. I'm trusting that Eichenberg is the next in line.

3.94 Michael Carter, RB, UNC
Undersized at 5'8" and 199 lbs, but has over 1,000 yards the past two seasons. This year he ran for 1,245 yards with an 8.0 YPC. His career average is 6.6 YPC and he has 22 career TDs along with 82 career receptions.

THE DRAFT NETWORK

1.30 Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama
There were a few tackles on the board, but he seemed to be the highest rated of the bunch.

2.62 Jaylen Twyman, IDL, Pitt
Took the year off to prep for the NFL so I anticipate he got quicker and stronger. Very good interior rusher to add to the line of Tuitt and Heyward.

3.93 Chuba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State
Highly productive running back who's proven he can carry a heavy workload.

PRO FOOTBALL NETWORK

1.32 Shaun Wade, CB, Ohio State
Future No. 1 cornerback from a program that has a tradition of quality defensive talent.

2.64 Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Memphis
Opted out of the season, but was highly productive last year with nearly 1,500 yards on the ground and 51 receptions.

3.95 Josh Myers, C, Ohio State
The consensus No. 2 center in the draft.

NFL MOCKDRAFT DATABASE

1.30 Creed Humphrey, C, Oklahoma
The top-rated center is arguably the best interior offensive lineman in the draft.

2.62 Astante Samuel Jr., CB, Florida State
I'm anticipating on losing a CB in free agency so why not get a talented option with NFL bloodlines.

3.94 Ben Cleveland, G, Georgia
I couldn't find a tackle, but I was able to lock down another highly rated guard.

PRO FOOTBALL FOCUS

1.27 Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
This draft board was tough. A lot of guys stacked at the same level so this feels like a reach.

2.59 Creed Humphrey, C, Oklahoma
I didn't even realize he was still on the draft board.

3.91 Khalil Herbert, RB, Virginia Tech
Plenty of experience but not a lot of mileage as a grad transfer. Exploded onto the scene this season.

Samuel screams Steelers pick to me as they love players with NFL bloodlines.

What is yinz go to film study sites this year?

I agree with the Oline people. Our Oline is really bad. It would be stupid to draft a stud RB when he will be getting hit as he gets the ball. Heyward is playing amazing ball, but he is in his 10th year I think they said last night. If we dont go oline in round 1 i would look at a stud CB if there is one left. I do think we should maybe take a flier on a QB in the later rounds. If not we definitely need a new backup. I have seen enough of Rudolph. He just does not have the physical tools.

Chubba in Rd 3 would be OK with me. He's had a down year this year due to leg injury. However, his play in 2019 was exceptional.

Please, god, no. Chris Rainey, Dri Archer, Anthony McFarland...We've seen how this story plays out.

With regard to drafting OL...I don't really see that solving our problems. We only ever got good production out of our high picks once Munchak came to town. The system is broken, throwing players at it won't fix that.

CO is doing fine. Bigdot is doing fine. So much for the system being broken.

Totally onboard with getting some oline help early and often. IMO especially on the interior. Our guys in the middle are looking old and tired. also would like to see us get a new OLine coach to teach them how to run block. I'm gonna say this and probably get roasted for it but if one of the top 4 QB prospects somehow falls to us in the first I think we need to grab him. No more late mid-late round flyers we've got enough of them hanging around. Obviously won't get Lawrence or Fields but if Wilson or Lance are available to us I say pull the trigger. We need someone with mobility and a big arm to take over from Ben and that day is not far away.

So we just drafting all defense instead and going with Chuks-Dotson-Pouncey-DeCastro-Banner with no future replacements for our aging vets?

You're delusional if you think we're doing well as a unit on the OL. The players can be as good individually as they want, that doesn't fix poor scheme, preparation, and coaching.

I'm not saying not to draft anyone. I'm saying that we spent a bunch of 1sts and 2nds in the past on OL and they all under-performed massively until Munchak turned them into a unit. Now he's gone and, shocker, they're playing like mid-range talent again.

Not now but they had a stretch where they were doing well. You are short sighted if you haven't seen that this year. They have started the youth movement on the Oline and will continue to work on it. Injuries hit the unit right out of the gates and continue to plague the team. How many 100 yard rushing performances were out of the gate? So yeah there is work to do. If that gets solved this year or stabilizes down the stretch who knows we will see. Not sure where all these 1st and 2s are besides Pounce and DeCastro so no they haven't spent a bunch of high draft picks on the position.

As I said elsewhere:
The volume stats are deceptive. We only really got good push and production against NY and HOU. The rest of the games we were sitting under or around 2 Yards Before Contact. We broke some tackles and hit a few big runs but the rest of the time we were mostly running out of shotgun for like 2 YPC. Against Philly we sat there and ran it out of shotgun the entire game to no effect.

Stats are deceptive or they just aren't fitting your narrative? Let us see what the rest of the season brings before stamping the team a conclusion.
