Drafting a QB in the first round! I got to Believe this would piss off ben. With all these mock draft Guys saying we are gonna do that they don’t know much. The window is closing soon and Ben was openly upset When they drafted a Qb in the 3rd Recently. I can see the Steelers trading down collect a few picks get the Oline and young rb like from North Carolina add a cb and make a final push for a ring. Who here actually thinks Ben resigned only to have them draft a Qb in the first 3 rounds?
It’s been awhile since I posted but I’ll never forget Cooach riding his bike to get a steak and it was a sirloin! Lmao now he’s got a luxury car!
Actually glad he’s still around brings something to the table for sure at least more then I do.
Just had to post this cause I think it obviously a bad idea to get a QB when we are so close.

BEN already knows if they are going to draft a QB or not. I'm sure it was disgust in his contract negotiations. Ben knows his time is limited and Once TC started BEN took Rednose under his wing and showed him the ropes. Ben didn't harbor any ill will.

Now wheather they actually draft a QB or not is still up in the air for us fans. If the right guy was there they may pull the trigger. We need a starting LT more than anything but the value has to be there.

I don’t think they ever really consult any player on other players... ben loved juju... juju is probably gone... they will take whomever is best in their eyes

They will trade up next year for a QB. They'll have the ammo with the 4 comp picks they receive

apparently in the new NFL, the QB is now the GM of the team or else he demands a trade.

But what are they close to? Losing in the first round of the playoffs and losing Bud,Pouncey, McDonald, Al V., Vince,Hilton, Conner, Alualu, and probably Juju on top of that? I would say right now they are closer to missing the playoffs than doing anything notable in it.

He was told he would be involved in the search and then they said, "nvm **** that" and hired someone immediately. Can't fault him for being upset he was lied to. JJ, Hopkins, and Andre Johnson have all had a lot of negative to say about the organization and they were their stalwarts for a long time.

I just kind of said the same thing in a different thread. I just don’t get how people think we are remotely talented enough for a SB run. It’s depressing.

You are probably right. The only thing I would say is they weren't winning anything with those players, either. It's not like they are losing players off a championship roster.

The Steelers need to build the foundation for the next QB/GM this year. As slash said, they’re more likely to miss the playoffs than make a run. A middle spot in the draft and a ton of comp picks will give them additional ammo to move up and take a QB.

Yet, I could see them taking any position in the first this year. This team has a lot of needs and not many guys signed to long-term deals.

I don't see us drafting a QB. If you draft a QB, it's in the 1st round. We need OL and RB before even considering what QB might still be around at the end of the first and there's no need to draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. We already have one of those. Rudolph will get some kind of offer from the team after this year to be our starter while they hope he develops and keep both eyes looking for our next franchise QB. If we shore up the line and get a legit starting RB, this team can compete this year. Of course that still depends on if they cut anyone else and the hope they bring in a coupe 2nd tier FA's like they do every year.

If the right guy was there you take him. But at 24 he won't be. So since you brought Ben back you give him the most help you can. Then you win 8-10 games and you are back at square one of this carousel with your mediocre coach. At that point it will be all Ben's fault and they will give Tomlin a new contract and I will throw up in my mouth.

If Hastings turns into something, that will be a huge steal. Right now, the anticipation is he is just fighting for a roster spot. He'll be our No. 3 of 4 QB's we carry over the summer.

not sure why people think we're targeting a QB in the draft. As previously been stated on this board, we have Mason and Haskins as FAs after the season.
Depending on how Haskins matures, one will be allowed to leave. The other will be resigned.
Haskins has the talent, but Mason has the maturity.

I would NOT be targeting a QB during the draft. We need to draft players to fill our depth issues at other positions first. Our best option to replace Ben is via free agency next year and then you hit the draft for depth behind whoever that is.

LT, C, NT, ILB, DB, WR, TE, RB all have higher priorities for us. May even want to throw S in there if they aren't going to do a new contract with Edmunds,

Andre Hastings will be 50 years old in November. I think he is what he is at this point. ;)

Why? Would he be discussted if they didn’t disgust it?

**** happens but thanks for taking the time to point it out in a discussing way...........................................(lol)

The Packers found the right guy at 24.

The only silver lining here is perhaps Tomlin will retire along with Ben. But if the Steelers end up handing Tomlin another long-term deal, I won't be able to keep the puke in my mouth; it'll be all over the floor.

I think Ben's contract was a bad move for the long term rebuild, it did nothing to hurt their ability to sign guys in the present. He is costing an extra 4 million then if they cut him.

I think Haskins was the big QB move this offseason. If he wins the backup job, you can retain him for 2022 rather easily because he's a restricted free agent. I'm rooting for his professional and personal maturity to increase.
