Ebron: “humbling loss” Washington: “we relaxed” — why can’t they stay dialed in?

Seems back to the Tebow game, the Bell/AB days, Jags playoff loss looking ahead to NE, the poor record when heavily favored, now today.. I don’t know how else to interpret this but that this team just gets cocky. They look at their record, they look at their opponents records, and think they have it in the bag. If they haven’t learned by now, they never will. There’s a VERY thin line between winning and losing in the NFL. 11-0 could just as easily be 6-5 with a few breaks the other way. And when you are not laser focused and highly respectful of your opponent, sometimes that’s all you need to cross that thin line. I think Tomlin has done a great job this year, but I also think his inability to check the collective ego of the team is his hallmark for going on a decade now and the primary reason they haven’t played in a super bowl since 2010 and it will cost them this year too

Same ****** attitude as the past. Same results. Stop bitching. Stop talking. Outwork everyone else. I don't see that right now.

You're going to get the same result as past failures unless you do.

Your ego isn't going to win ****. You're entitled to nothing.

Looking like *** on offense for many weeks now.

No effort from fitcner to change Washington saw all the little out and slants and why could we not try some post down field passes to chase or ju ju hopefully with pouncey back n Conner there will be a commitment to atleast 20 runs

Ever since seeing what the little ***** #84 recorded in the locker room, it just shows Tomlin does not respect every opponent like he leads the media to believe. He leads by example and the players follow.
Tomlin said he's excited about the loss to see how they respond to it... uh ok. I truly believe that Tomlin relies mostly on motivating the players rather than Xs and Os on the field, that stuff is very secondary to the rah rah stuff.

They tried 1 true deep throw and it was the first pass of the game.

After that the only other deep throw was to Washington and it wasn't planned, Ben just scrambled and read James deep. Even the long TD by Washington was a shorter throw that James broke.

They simply refuse to challenge the defense deep and resultantly, they have 7 or 8 guys in the box, only the guys in the box are really looking for crossing routes and rubs and if the Steelers are dumb enough to try to smash into them with a feeble run attempt... well the defense is already at the line of scrimmage.

Oversimplified B.S.. Can't run the ball, opponent changed the strategy, no answer. Mistakes are going to happen in the game. If you cannot run you are ******.

I dont hate Ebron... despite the drops, he is the best pass catching threat we have had since Eric Greene... he has 49 grabs already and 4 tds... people get hung up on chatter that doesn’t matter....

Huh? The best pass catching TE? Ever hear of Heath Miller?

Plus add in his blocking skills and TEAM leader / focus and you have a jock-strap that Ebron couldn't begin to wear BUT wait, it'd be big enough to stuff in his pie-hole to shut him up.

Salute the nation

Yes I know Mdk2 already said what about HEATH!!!! But it deserves to be said again.

But geeeeeez I hope that was a brain fart.

Not demonizing Ebron - just using his quote to point out it seems the mentality of the team is that they are good enough to coast.

That is why I refer to him as a cheerleader and not a Head Coach. I honestly believe he is doing the best that he can with the limited skills he has. After this many years, you would think that he would learn from experience, but he doesn’t. He is a SLIGHTLY better than average HC, with an overachieving first ballot HOF QB that is padding the stats for him. Everyone wants to crow about ‘ol Mikey T’s win loss record, but without Ben, he isn’t even in the discussion. He is the Steelers version of Marvin Lewis, just good enough to give you hope, yet fails you in the end.

I would take Heath Miller or Mark Bruener every day and twice on Sunday over Ebron. Ebron came to the Steelers with the reputation he is exhibiting.

He gets open on some routes (Erica Ebron). That's it. That's the gist of it. To say he's even in the same Galaxy as Eric Green is insulting. Or Heath Miller.

Don't know about the "we". He may have certainly. Don't think Hilton relaxed or TJ.

I think you need to explain how Mike Tomlin is anything like Marvin Lewis (other than his skin color). They have vastly different strategies on how they approach game management. So go ahead and explain to us how they are similar, because I don't see it.

Please explain to me which head coach wins consistently without having dominant players in key positions. That is the most asinine statement. The better comparison would be to look at how many coaches do NOT succeed, with dominant players.

Tomlin clearly proved his meddle when he had this team in playoff contention last year with Duck Hodges and Mason Rudolph at QB. Oh, wait a minute. He only succeeded because he had a dominant defense. [emoji849]
