They are 3-4. Playoffs are fleeting. Their SB MVP QB will walk at the end of the season. Get zero. And put all their chips into Carson Wenz.

Wenz had some questionable decision making to close out that game.

I like Wentz but he **** the bed today.

He is their future. Hate the birds living here and all, but dude still isn’t 100% and their line went to ****

They should have floated one of their second round picks for Bell - absolutely stupid not to. They are 5-3 with Bell right now, instead of 3-4.

Foles has some mental issues. When he is confident, he is Joe Montana. When he is not confident, he is Kent Graham.

Whoever said they should have traded for bell you MUST realize BELL can't be traded until he signs TAG. That won't be till week 11 and after trade deadline. I know you were talking hyperthetical but just putting what I believe to be factual out there.

Salute the nation

You had Jaworski, Cunningham and McNabb. You won zero. Nada. Zilch. This guy delivers your only championship and out duels arguably the greatest of all time. And you will get nothing for him. There had to be a market. And I don't know the structure of his contract so perhaps there still will. But if he is a free agent next year you get nothing. And a obvious choice with Jax is locked into Bortles for 28 million.

Eagles aren't out of it yet. That division is dogshit, with no clear front runner. I wouldn't be surprised if the division winner is 8-8 or 9-7.

Yea I am pretty shocked they didnt try to move him a little harder.

It appeared as though (shockingly) that they really wanted to have a quality backup and were not even considering trading him.

To your last point, THANK GOD they didnt send him to the Jaguars.

it doesn't matter what the Iggles do. They are not beating the Saints and certainly not the Rams. They shot their load last year and hoisted the Lombardi finally. If any team could do a B2B, I thought the Eagles would be the team, but that is proving to a farce. Maybe they turn it around, but I don't see it right now.

Yeah, but the Eagles were in a tough spot. There was no guarantee that Wentz would be back for the start of the season (which he wasn't), and Foles just led them to their first Super Bowl victory.
The Eagles may have been able to trade him away, but they would have needed to bring in another quality backup QB who could potentially start the season for them. I think they did the right thing, even though they may end up getting nothing for Foles once his contract is up.

Also -- Foles didn't necessarily light it up to start the season, so it's not like he's going to sign for a huge contract next season anywhere. He might end up just signing back up with the Eagles.

So he fumbled, still a damn good game regardless.

Yes, he played well until the game was on the line. He is young and I think he will be good but he did not play well when it mattered most = **** the bed.

I've heard that one before. The guy won a SB. And not a Trent Dilfer SB. Someone will pay him plenty. If the Jags could ditch Bortles they'd be front and center

Again though... they didn't have the luxury of shopping Foles after the SB because they were unsure of Wentz's status for the start of the season. Once Wentz returned, they certainly could have shopped Foles, but then they still would have had to find a backup quarterback.

Maybe a Trade that included another QB in the deal might have been an option. Or they could have brought in Kap.

I know exactly what you are saying, but if you believe the guy is a legit SB qb, its hard to let him go. Unfortunately, his contract language means you lose him. Hence the thread title. I think they are in a tougher situation. Its a real catch 22.
But personally, if the doctor said that Wenz is coming back and he is my guy. Then I get full value for Foles before the draft and pick up a journeyman.

It matters all the same. Scores don’t count more late in the game. If everyone had played as well as him, the score wouldn’t have been close.

They had no reason to rush him back either with a guy like Foles in there as the backup.

I think they would have Foles stayed in for more games, but they were losing with him behind center too.

Classic case of a team not being able to manage success.
