Don't think Ray Rice will be defended anymore...

If they have any integrity, that's exactly what they would do. And I like to think there's enough good left in the world that the fans would be behind it.
 
The problem is, Rice IS that team. Flacco is nothing without the running threat that Rice provides. They lose a realistic running game and there's no way on earth that Flacco has the talent to win them enough games to realistically stay in contention. And star running backs don't fall from trees. They hit a home run with Rice. By the numbers Mendenhall should have been better than Rice ever was but it never came out that way at all. Well, now we know - Rice is just way more aggressive. Dude's probably juiced out of his mind.

Maybe the Rats will get rid of him, but I'd be shocked. It would be a classy move on their part but it would be suicide.
 
Goodell had this video and purposely did not watch it. Does anybody believe that they would get the video of the outside and not the inside?

Goodell is a media *****. At the time, the media was not making a huge deal of ray rice. He bases his punishments on what he thinks the media wants. He figured 2 games would be enough. He was wrong and it blew up and then he overreacted with his new tough guy stance where you will be suspended 6 games,,,or a season,,,or for life,,or something.

i bet they are working hard with Rice and the Ravens to negotiate him agreeing to a longer suspension. I hope rice stick to his guns and tells him to get lost. The NFLPA should do the same. This isn't about whether he should have gotten suspended longer. The point is he was given his punishment and that's that. You can't go back.

This was not a conditional punishment like Ben got where he essentially would get a shorter suspension with good behavior. No, Rice was given a firm punishment. There is no do over.

the Ravens should make a preemptive move here. The pressure will be on them to extend Rice's suspension. They should make a statement that they are sicken by the newest video and dismayed that Goodell did not review that footage, but they have already accepted the NFL's punishment and they will not set a precedent of re-punishing players after the NFL has done so. Then you say how Rice's wife convinced you to take ray back, blah blah blah.

do not let Goodell pass the buck on this. He messed up. Make him eat the **** sandwich.

I'd hate it for his wife if he did get cut. Think of the beating she'd get then.
 
The video just proves what we already knew, right? He knocked her out in the elevator and dragged her out of it. It's more shocking to see it in black and white, but from what I understand, Goodell and the Ravens knew about the incident in detail. I can't see the Ravens releasing him. They should have taken it upon themselves to match the two game suspension, so save face. Many were outraged over some of the Steeler incidents over the years and wanted those players released, but it's a business and RR is their starting RB.

I think a lot of people tried to convince themselves that she must have been violently physically attacking him at the time of the punch, especially after she apologized for her role in it (I'm sorry my face got in the way of your swinging fist). Nobody would just haul off and knock their girlfriend out, right? But that's exactly what happened.

he was going to smack her in the elevator, where he assumed there were not cameras.
 
wtf did the NFL and all those other players who think he should be banned.. wtf did they think happened..? It was said he knocked her out.. so now they see him actually do it,, its bad?

NFL bunch of lying ******** saying they never saw this video footage before issuing a 2 game suspension

Yep...at the time I was disgusted by what facts I did have about Ben's behavior...buying shots for drunk college girls and feeling them up (at a minimum) in public restrooms. I believe I called him a pig and said that I had lost a lot of respect for him as a person. That is dumb and gross behavior, but it's certainly not criminal behavior. Nor is it anywhere close to punching a defenseless woman in the face.
 
Even if you can somehow swallow the BS that RG, etc. etc. didn't see the video from inside the elevator, Rice supposedly gave an account of what happened that matched up with what you see on the video, more or less. That alone should have been enough to warrant a much more serious punishment, not to mention the dragging of her unconscious body through the halls of the hotel. That's what disgusts me about the whole thing (well, that and the support he's gotten from the Ravens & their fans). There was ample evidence and actual facts to back up a longer suspension without the video, but what it says to me is the NFL couldn't care less about the women that make up something like 47% of their fan base. You can throw up pink all over yourself during the month of October and it means absolutely nothing. This incident was what finally tipped me over the edge. I refuse to give the NFL any more of my money. No games, no jerseys, no Sunday Ticket. And that last really hurts - I live in the middle of Bears/Rams/Colts/Chiefs tv territory. I still love the game and love my team, but I hate what the jackoffs that are running this league have done to it.
 
What gets me is the police had this video. This was a crime and he should have been punished as such. Even if his wife didn't want to press charges, this was not a he said, she said situation. They had this video. He assaulted her and at his size, he could have killed her. It is total BS that you can't prosecute someone when you have clear evidence even when the fiance' or wife won't press charges.

I can't see the league reopening the case. The Rats could suspend him also but they won't because the players union will still probably stick up for him even with a bunch of players coming out against him.
 
Ben was blasted on here. Some people wanted to trade him and draft Bridgewater. Ben may not have been a great guy then but he didn't do anything illegal. He should never have been suspended at all. Rooney wanted to send a message but the NFL should have left the owner deal with it.
 
I wonder if he lied about what actually happened.
 
Terminated - hallelujah. I can't imagine another team trying to pick him up at this point.
