Timmons' agent probably tested the Steelers and they told him to go check the market. Timmons has been on record stating he wants to finish his career in Pittsburgh and would be willing to take less. He probably took more control of the situation to try to get a deal done early.

Can someone explain how we're going to improve our defense bringing Timmons back. You guys must like 100+ yard games from opposing TEs.

You can't ask those questions, you're just a hater. I agree with you though.

I love Harrison and Timmons, but if these guys are on the field in coverage we are screwed.

From what Colbert said it seems like they're going to let him at least check out the waters and see his value.

Can you explain how Timmons always covers the TE in our D? And how many of those games were there last year?

The guys thrive in run support and pass rush, that's on the coaches x&o for putting them in a position to fail

Good, keep him - anything to keep us from blowing a top draft pick on another bust at LB

you know it's coming, either Edge or CB iin first and or 2nd round, the apparent value is there so it makes sense.
Now if OJ Howard fell then I'd support drafting him, WR Williams too. But it ain't going to happen.

Burns and Davis are panning out. I think the FO corrected previous scouting issues.
I want a WR/TE and a RB between 2nd and 4th round, but I do think we need to invest the 1st rounder on a CB or OLB as at the end of the round is where the value will probably be

Timmons is playing very well at this point in his career.
The only drawback is that he is 1 step too slow covering TE's down the field.
It's not like he is getting dusted. He just can't quite get there sometimes.
However, his presence and playing ability as the enforcer is fantastic.

I want him back...but we can't spend much more than 4.5 mil per year for him. His age should bring his contract down a bit I would think.

Dupree and Shazier look pretty good.

I'm not blaming Timmons for not being able to cover, that's on the coaches for sure. As for the draft, we need a pass rusher and a CB, DLine looks good.

I'd keep him for 3,5M. We should be using a 3rd Safety on passing plays instead of 2 ILBs so Timmons snaps should decrease

I want WR,TE, hell even RB as the top 3 before anymore BUSTS At LB!!!!!!

40 points a game - that is our goal, more weapons for Ben - defense is irrelevant

I want 6 B's!

3 obviously wasn't enough

Everyone is down on Timmons to slow to cover. Maybe look at the coaches that call the defensive plays. Hell half the time our corners can't cover. He leads tackling how many times, we need some experience since we aren't looking to improve the defense.

Still one of the best tacklers on defense. Roles evolve. Really should be Shazier playing the lock down coverage linebacker. Williams role should increase. Timmons creates a great deal of depth but not a three down LB.

I hope we re-sign Timmons...and I belive we will..

Always has been under-rated here for some reason, which I dont understand at all..

This guy is in great shape for his age, is a veteran leader, and is arguably the hardest hitter on the team.
