I hope they aren't equally biased this afternoon. It's ugly one-sided early in the Detroit game.

Yeh the refs this year bite the big one. More than years past. And that is saying something.

The refs are a big part of the reason the NFL has gone downhill.

Just a example of the filthy rich not getting off their wallets for something really important.

Saw a report this morning about why NFL ratings are so low, and the league rep blamed everything except ****** games and political protests on the sidelines turning people off. What a dumbass! Another case of thinking you know more than those who you provide the service to. NFL has gotten too big and corrupt IMO!

There have been times (like a td at the back of the end zone by Washington last week) where the ref was in perfect position and still ****** it up. I'm like I make better calls when I ref rec touch football in the summer. It has been a brutal season. I tend to blame instant replay. I think they have become dependant on it.

I had the over on the national anthem... I'm happy.

Jerome Bettis knows a thing or 2 about ****** officiating on Thanksgiving

Aretha Franklin has earned 4 minutes and 35 seconds of TV coverage.

Seeing a dude's butt crack needs zero coverage. Unless, you're SDS...

NOBODY has earned the right to drag out the national anthem for almost five minutes. I love Aretha but that was terrible.

The dude on the horn at the Dallas game nailed it. I thought his version was awesome.

I won't drag out the conversation...it really does not matter...

Officiating and ****** primetime matchups are wrecking this sport.

IMO, it's not the referees as much as the rules they are trying to enforce, there is simply too much subjectivity to nearly every penalty, in particular, pass interference which, unfortunately, are potential game changing calls. The 5 yard rule should go the way of the dinosaur, offensive holding is random, I've seen players get an arm around the neck and nothing, but a little grab of the jersey on the interior and the flag comes out, roughing the passer is nearly impossible to get right, did he take too many steps before he hit the QB? above the shoulders? below the waist? drove him into the ground? Hell, what's a good tackle look like?

The refs are part of the problem, but the rules, IMO, are the biggest, that and the fact that they are part time employees of a billion dollar industry, I think the NFL can afford to pay them and train them year round and make a career out of it.

Instant replay hasn't helped either, the refs rely on the replay to get it right.

The refs should be full-time and mostly ex-players or ex-college players who are still in shape and can keep up with the game.

Yep...spot on. I would add trying to figure out what is a catch and what isn't.

At the end of the game, I thought the Lions might have actually fumbled after the interception, but never really saw a clear replay. They ruled him down by contact. Is down by contact something that is still not reviewable? Any review would have had to come from the booth.

My next door neighbor was on TV at the end of the game. I guess his entire family was wearing turkey hats.

The officiating just sucks, even in our game last night , do we ever get a interference call for us. Green held up arms around him no call, brown held up no call but lets us look at a receiver and here comes the flags.

They showed several clear replays, he was definitely down before the ball came loose. But I agree with the refs being horrible. Caldwell had to challenge one play in the first half where the refs called pass interference on the Lions, they huddled up and talked for a couple minutes, only to stick with the call... Problem is, the ball was tipped, it was OBVIOUSLY tipped as well. Everyone in the building saw it was tipped, but still had to waste a challenge to get the call corrected. He wasted his second challenge on a bad spot just before halftime. You watch the replay of the ref running in, and he starts to run straight and then starts veering to his right, they upheld that call, but it was a horrible spot, and a ref not being able to run a straight line on a field that littered with straight lines is pathetic.

I just found a replay on the web that did show his knee hit the ground before the fumble. There was also an associated article claiming that the play was actually reviewed even though it may have not been apparent to viewers.

The rules are terrible. The NFL can't even define a catch let alone the other complex rules that the officials have to worry about. Beyond the rules, the penalties are absurd. The offense gets an automatic first down on a third-and-forever for a five-yard defensive penalty that has no bearing on the outcome of the play.

I'm also right with you on replay. When officials allow a turnover or potential score to play out with the aid of replay, I don't have any issues. However, there are too many other plays that are missed because of replay.
