The refs are a big part of the reason the NFL has gone downhill.
The game isn't as bad as this halftime show...

Aretha Franklin has earned 4 minutes and 35 seconds of TV coverage.what about that concert of a national anthem? lulz
You can blame gambling and fantasy bullshit. It's not about Ws and Ls, it's about stats and percentages to make more $$ for the NFL machine.

Seeing a dude's butt crack needs zero coverage. Unless, you're SDS...

I won't drag out the conversation...it really does not matter...NOBODY has earned the right to drag out the national anthem for almost five minutes. I love Aretha but that was terrible.
The dude on the horn at the Dallas game nailed it. I thought his version was awesome.
IMO, it's not the referees as much as the rules they are trying to enforce, there is simply too much subjectivity to nearly every penalty, in particular, pass interference which, unfortunately, are potential game changing calls. The 5 yard rule should go the way of the dinosaur, offensive holding is random, I've seen players get an arm around the neck and nothing, but a little grab of the jersey on the interior and the flag comes out, roughing the passer is nearly impossible to get right, did he take too many steps before he hit the QB? above the shoulders? below the waist? drove him into the ground? Hell, what's a good tackle look like?
The refs are part of the problem, but the rules, IMO, are the biggest, that and the fact that they are part time employees of a billion dollar industry, I think the NFL can afford to pay them and train them year round and make a career out of it.
Instant replay hasn't helped either, the refs rely on the replay to get it right.

Good point, I forgot that one, that rule may be the most egregious of all of them.Yep...spot on. I would add trying to figure out what is a catch and what isn't.
At the end of the game, I thought the Lions might have actually fumbled after the interception, but never really saw a clear replay. They ruled him down by contact. Is down by contact something that is still not reviewable? Any review would have had to come from the booth.
My next door neighbor was on TV at the end of the game. I guess his entire family was wearing turkey hats.
They showed several clear replays, he was definitely down before the ball came loose.
