Great stands by the defense, but should we be concerned that we pretty much did the exact same thing tonight that we did in Foxboro in January? 2DL, 4LBs, alot of zone. Detroit had guys open every where and we seemed to have no adjustments for that.
The refusal to use 3DL to get a push and make it harder for these good QBs to step up is simply mind boggling, look at the clinching play, Hargrave bull rushed the C right into Stafford who can't step up or step into his throw.

I agree Coryea I was questioning the scheme the whole game. I hate the two DL look. It takes our best pass rusher Javon Hargrave out of the game. This kid makes our Defense alot better. He needs to be in the game! I did notice late in the game tonight they had him at DE when they had 2 DL in there but I don't like that look on Defense at all!

tonight was odd in the fact we put pressure on the QB in first quarter then seemed to rush three and four and we were picked apart. Yes they made some outstanding plays inside five yard line tonight, hard to keep that up. We gave up a lot of very big plays and a lot of yardage on first down. Lions QB no slouch but he picked us part quite easily. Win is a win but when will it hurt us.

We don’t have great coverage in our secondary, and we get exposed when we do not get consistent pressure on the QB. The problem with the bend but don’t break defense is that they eventually will break and my fear is that it will happen in the playoffs. Right now our offense is too inconsistent and cannot get into a shootout. I think the stairway to seven still involves a 2’ riser over the Pats, and I don’t see this defense holding Brady down.

Their OL played better than I thought they would. Stafford had been sacked 27 times prior to this game.
Stafford the best QB we’ve faced by far.

That redzone D was solid.

Although in more meaningful games per se, the D needs to do a better job, especially in coverage.
Detroits receivers had a field day.

The cheaters don't fail like that in the red-zone. You can bank on it.

The D had a tough one today no question....against a team coming off a bye in their house having 2 weeks to game plan...I see more potential with these players to get the job done then I have in a long time ..Stafford had a great game everywhere but getting TD's and the D has to get credit for that...

Red zone defense was outstanding. Pass defense was non existent...but out of all those yards, not one TD. I'll take it.

It is concerning. Brady and others would not have settled for 5 FG's with 6 or 7 trips down there. We should NEVER have only 2 DL in the game and we should NEVER rush 3 men unless we are truly in a prevent D and even then, I think we should always send 4. We have been able to get pressure this year when sending 4 and that's not a blitz. Sending 3 gets us nothing but a QB with tons of time to find an open target and the good ones will.

The front has to get home. They arent going to change the from 2DL. Watt and Dupree are going to play.. i say again Hargrave needs to be one of those 2DL he is the best pass rusher out of the DL.

Do not forget Detroit was coming off their bye too.

Fresh with two weeks to prepare.

For me the D is still a work in progress but will continue to improve.

Good point.. two weeks to watch film . Good point..i said earlier they seemed well prepared for our blitz..they got us to reveal where it was coming from early alot

Some teams lay an egg after the bye including the Steelers.

Dalton had been playing well and the Chiefs / Alex Smith had been rolling. Stafford may have been the best we faced, but they have no running game and the two QBs i mentioned are no slouches.

Laying a egg is ******* losing.

The game I watched had them winning.

Some of yinz act like every ******* game needs to be a blowout.

If you don't go through speed bumps, you don't identify what works doesn't work needs improvement.

Etc.

The fact is the team finds ways to win.

When nobody and their mother expected a KC win, they won.

A strong passing team with two weeks to prepare, and they still shut down their proficient scoring O.

Ben is rebounding although I would still prefer he force a few less.

Of course you don't like those yards given up. But Detroit is pass capable and have shown that.

The Steelers went on the road against a fresh capable team and won a game a decent amount thought could be a trap game.

But ended up winning in spite of all the negatives.

As the positives outshined them.

You only have to score one more point than your opponent to win.

That is all that is important

A ******* win.

Enjoy them.

Stafford is a great qb. To me anyway. He is impressive. Picking up the blitz's before snaps.. Crisp passes. Hitting receivers in stride,, etc.

We didnt seem to be rushing more than 4 on any play.

Makes me wonder why our offense cant do the same thing. We knew they were passing on most downs.

This is what our D has accomplished:

Beat the Ravens in Baltimore, check.
controlled all 3 divisional victories, check.
Beat a top flight rushing attack with skill players at all positions, in KC, check
Beat a top flight passing attack with 2 weeks to prepare, on the road, check

I don't know what you guys want in a D, but I see a D that can win many different ways. Last night was a classic, bend but don't break, LeBeau game. Stats are great, but points against are the measure against a defense, and right now, the steelers haven't let up more than 18 points in regulation, in any game this season.

Think about that for a second. 8 games in, and this D only gave up 18 points, or less, in every game. Cleveland currently has the most regulation points scored on this D at 18!

This team doesn't need to score 30 points every game to win, it only needs 20.

Well, we left points with Rogers dropping it in the end zone and Bell fumbling it.

The difference between this year and last year is our pass rush is better, we actually have two corners who can play, and the coverage underneath with Watt and Shaizer is decent.

Stafford has a special type of arm and accuracy, I'd give the defense a " pass " as they did not score, but rolled up lots of yardage.
