Panthers are set to cut him

per Profootballtalk

If he can be healthy, we could use a good backup rb

I'd like to see us sign a vet RB as well as draft one in round 4-6. We'll need depth given that Bell is facing a 1-2 game suspension. Is this the guy? Will he get desperate enough to sign with us given that Bell will take nearly all the snaps except when he is suspended or injured? I see a guy like Roy Helu as being more likely. A guy that is willing to be the clear cut backup and to play special teams.

If he is willing to come cheap I like him. Like Al says with Bell missing 1-2 games I would rather have a vet back up to start the season. Williams has always had the talent but could never stay healthy, not to mention the Panthers have/had a crowded backfield.

Nope. His body barely holds up to the beating he took in the nfc south. He would get blown up in our division. His best days are well past him, to the point that even a "backup/spell Leveon for a play or 2" role wouldnt be all that effective. I want someone young and with a chip a la ahmad bradshaw back in 2007-08

he wasn't used properly the last nine years......

I'd rather stick with what we have.

I could be wrong but i think we will wait until after the draft to sign a veteran rb.

exactly with a lot of good rb in th draft we will pick one and some undrafted .. then a lot of teams could waive a vetran rb . and you have all the options open after looking what you already got in the house

I agree, NO need to go out and sign anyone, RB wise, in a hurry. There is time.................

Salute the nation

I think we can find Staley's jogging suit somewhere....I do like the guy though. If he could stay off the injury report and accept a reduced role, why not.

Nah...he's 31 - rather keep Ben Tate...
Dittos. I'd rather see what Tate can give us in camp. RB's in the draft or UDFA's are a dime a dozen if we need one.

The draft is really deep at RB. Can probably get a good one late.

Yeah I'm.thinking pass on this guy.

A lot of people want us to go draft which by the way I am not against I do like this class coming out. However here is the question, with Bell looking at a 1-2 game suspension and coming off injury do we want to throw our rookie right in there. As for Tate I seen enough of him last year to hope he is gone.

Enough? He came in 3 days for a PO game. He wasn't stellar and yes, he fumbled, but what did we really see? That's a short-sighted comment. I would, at the very least, bring him into camp to compete against a rookie and Harris.

31 is ancient in RB years. If I could trust he'd be healthy and was just a spell for Le'Veon, cool. But I'll take my chances elsewhere
