Day 3 Rounds 4 - 7

For me B.

They got an:

Elite RAS T
Nasty G
Solid number 2 type WR
Solid depth CB - man coverage capable (possible future starter)
Best returner

At least three starters. Maybe 5.
This draft probably is a B- or B for me on initial look. Most of that is because of day 3. Not many high upside players, instead a reach on a returner and two players who have an uphill battle to even make the roster. Looking down the line, Iheanachor's and Allar's development could really elevate this draft to an A+.

1.21 Max Iheanachor
Ceiling: All Pro
Floor: Probably average starter
Overall, this was a good pick at an area of need (writing is on the wall with Jones). Lemon was a favorite of mine, but it seems like while he's a project, he's a cleaner prospect than Broderick was..

2.47 Germie Bernard
Ceiling: Above average WR2.
Floor: Low end WR3.
Maybe my favorite second-round WR. I just thought he'd be out of range, so it makes sense they traded up.

3.7 Drew Allar
Ceiling: Top-10 QB
Floor: Bust
The Steelers were taking a QB in the middle rounds and with three thirds, it was almost certain that was the target zone. They went with the one with the most physical tools.

3.85 Daylen Everette
Ceiling: CB2
Floor: Special teams
A popular pick for the Steelers in mocks. I probably would've went in a different direction, but he has enough athleticism and upside for this spot in the draft.

3.96 Gennings Dunker
Ceiling: Good starter.
Floor: Versatile backup.
Good demeanor for what the Steelers want to be on offense. Most experts believe he'll be a better guard than tackle and probably one of the best three guards available after the top tier of prospects went early.

4.121 Kaden Wetjen
Ceiling: Pro Bowl returner, slot WR
Floor: Bust
Bad value at this spot of the draft. He'll really need to perform, particularly with what Khan has previously done in the fourth round.

5.169 Riley Nowakowski
Ceiling: Connor Heyward
Floor: Cut
Good character player and a favorite of analysts for day 3. I read a lot of good things and the Steelers needed at TE3.

6.210 Gabe Rubio
Ceiling: Limited snap backup.
Floor: Cut
Plus is he played for a really good college. Downside is he lacks athleticism and production. Will struggle to make the roster.

7.224 Robert Spears-Jennings
Ceiling: Backup safety.
Floor: Cut
Like above, a longshot to make the roster, IMO.

7.230 Eli Heidenreich
Love this pick. He was gone earlier in the draft simulators so I never picked him, but his versatility is worth a roster spot. Love his ability as a receiver if he's playing RB.

Epilogue:

Walking back over the Clemente Bridge we engaged in a conversation with a couple Rat fans and a kinda quiet Cowgirl fan.

We were stopped at the light and then PLOP!

Outta the sky a big Pittsburgh shithawk dropped his load.......right on the loud Rat fan and the Chef fan wearing his autographed by Goodell hat.

It was clearly a sign to us Steeler fans!

In some cultures, getting s*** on by a bird is good luck for the receiver. In childhood, a school mate of mine had this happen. I couldn’t help but laugh in a non malicious way for a still undisclosed reason and still feel bad about it.

Hope we have luck after getting s*** on by the Eagles

I don’t know about all that. My crystal ball is gathering dust in the closet but, it’s easy to take some swings when the foundation is solid. Having a detailed blueprint is a plus in those early stages. Jerry Jones kinda went kamikaze on the host draft city. You don’t see a guy make a divisional rival better too often. It’s a pretty peculiar round one scenario.

7.224 Robert Spears-Jennings
Ceiling: Backup safety.
Floor: Cut

Looks like Darnell Savage is not going to be a Steeler, so I'd say Spears-Jennings has a decent chance of making the roster. It depends on how many DBs Steelers roster and whether they are treating Ramsey as primarily a safety or CB (and also depends on what safeties may become available via cuts later).
