Cut These Guys W/Post June 1 Designation And Save $25.75 M

we need troy to retire, gilbert is staying, as is mitchell, we can cut DHB and Cam Thomas, to retain Will Allen, we need Mccain @ Blake back at cap friendly deals i.e Mccain 2 years 3 mill Blake 2 years 2.8 mill

Hmmm....

I agree w/ Troy retiring (sad, but true). And I agree that Mitchell will be back now that he's got a year under the system and hopefully returns healed - definitely cut both DHB and Cam Thomas and I'd add Will Allen to the list too - he's old now and while serviceable - it's time to let Golden and Sharmarko get an opportunity.

IMO, Blake and Gay are my starting CB's going into next season w/ Brice McCain in the slot. We need to find out what is "wrong" w/ Cortez and hopefully he comes back - if not we're two DB's short...

Cortez is not being cut......he was a casualty of the new illegal contact enforcement movement in the league.....he lost his confidence...hes gotta find it again. But you dont just throw talent out like that...............hes gonna have to adjust...im sure he will.........****, if William Gay can re-invent himself, im sure Cortez can.

What happened to him here?

he moved on tired of a few issues with certain posters plus personal issues to boot.....

Heard on one of the Pittsburgh TV channels this morning that Troy plans on returning.

Haven't link confirmed it anywhere yet.......... so take it for hearsay right now......

That could be a problem.........i know hes earned the right to stick around as long as he wants but teams find trouble with success by holding on to players 1+ years too long. He was essentially a non-factor the entire season. He still gets respected by opponents but thats on past reputation alone. He can be targeted now because hes limited physically. He used to be quick, instinctual with a high football IQ......but now hes lost his "quick". If he could play LB then he could extend his career. But its time for him to retire. I hate sayin it but its reality. It happened to the best of em..........Adrian Wilson, Ed Reed, Brian Dawkins etc.

I, for one, don't like it. We kept "the old guard" around too long over the past 4 years - certainly, someone in the FO and coaching staff can see this too...

Let's think about our defense, as a whole, from top to bottom.

Should the Steelers really keep Coach LeBeau for another year??? The defense hasn't been in the "top 5" for 3 years straight - because most opponents know what were going to do, JMO. Time for a new revolution...

As previously stated, safeties, persuade Troy to retire and keep Mitchell for one more year (hopefully he heals up).

DB/CBs - I keep Gay, Blake, McCain, C. Allen (see blitzburghv5's comment above), and Shaq Richardson. Adding one or two more via draft or free agency is very important this offseason.

LB's - At present, I love what we have at ILB - Timmons/Shazier/Williams/Spence. OLB is the Steelers NUMBER ONE GLARING NEED. If I were in charge, I'd ensure that we took one w/ the 1st and 3rd picks. Again, this year is about QUALITY of each pick not so much the QUANTITY of them...MOVE UP & GET QUALITY players in the first 3 rds.

DE's/NT's - I think the team is all set up front - adding one more versatile DE wouldn't be a bad idea late in the draft...

The only ones on that list leaving are Polamalu, Keisel and Cam Thomas.

I think everyone else will be on the 2015 roster.

Allen, Mitchell, Gilbert are not going anywhere unless traded.

bring Celek here from East PA he and Miller would be a great duo both can block and are a load to bring down after the catch.

Cut the whole team and you have no one left to play. No way they can cut all of the players mentioned. They made some stupid deals this past offseason and we are going to pay for them for a few years. Whoever spearheaded those deals should be fired.

Shaq's gone. Released via injury settlement in November. They kept B.W. Webb on the 53 man roster for the season after they acquired him. It was reported that he was a guy Tomlin wanted in the 2013 draft but the Cowboys got him in the 4th.
I sure hope they started evaluating corners in this draft well prior to the end of the season.
