Crosby a Rat

I think Crosby still has a lot to offer, his solo tackle and TFL numbers are usually top notch. Jesse Minter being a defensive HC will get the most out of him. I didn't watch a lot of the Raiders but I seem to recall Crosby mostly being on the defense's left but I could be wrong. Still, I'm hoping the Pitt FO uses this as another push to get some quality additions to complete the left side of the oline.
Tone setter in the locker room too. Maybe not on a dysfunctional franchise like the Raiders, but a good one in Baltimore.

Gotta love the spirit of the player when he demands a trade after not being allowed to play in a meaningless end of season game he was really wanting to play in. The league needs more guys like this.

But as far as his age, the contract and the cost of draft capital given the Raiders made out very well and this appears to be the desperation all in shove on pocket deuces by the Rats…

**** the Rats

Raiders traded Crosby for 2 first rounders. Bengals will let Hendrickson walk for free.

Crosby is a good player but has only had more than 10 sacks twice in his career. He's missed games each of the last 2 seasons. This trade seems more desperate the more i think about it. Why not just sign Hendrickson as a free agent?

TH is 31 and coming off surgery for a hip/pelvis issue.

Very good player, injuries an issue, but will provide very badly needed pass rush help that they lacked last season.
Also, don’t discount Jesse Minter who brings an excellent defensive mind to Baltimore. He recognized the need for pass rush help and quickly moved.
However, two first are very steep for a non QB that will be 29 during the season but as someone mentioned, maybe going all out because they feel this is their window.
Don’t think the Rats will be anything like last season. I think they will be much improved.
But hay, we may have old Aaron back!

Anytime the Rats make a move like this, our brass better have an answer. Maxx still can disrupt some games and will get his. What are we gonna do to counter, is my question. I do like it that they burned two 1STs on him. If they get to the SB, it will be worth it. LJ is their question mark.

Wait, they gave up this year's round 1 pick AND 2027's round one pick? That is ******* stupid! I was worried that they would draft Keldrick Faulk, kid is a monster and didn't want him in the AFC North.

They aren’t in a good cap situation and now gave up two 1s. I like it from a Steelers perspective as I think they could have found a good pass rusher in the draft.

I wouldn’t say no player is worth 2 ones as there is some QBs that are. But seeing that drop off from them I am not so sure this will fix it.
That is a huge trade off no pun intended. The possibility of Lamar going down and a losing record will have raven fans in a frenzy considering they’ll give up another high first round pick. The cap issue is another negative although I’m sure they’ll restructure his contract but it will become a factor either this season or eventually.

The Ravens were near the top of the league in run defense, and near the bottom in QB pressures and sacks, I believe.

The inability to get to the QB was a big reason they blew so many leads last year.

Crosby definitely makes them better, but the cost might prove to be too much if the Ravens do not really hit on some later picks in the next two drafts.

None of it matters if Lamar cannot stay on the field, which is basically a coin flip based on his history.
Those are the final year numbers. They started the year HORRIBLE against the run, they gave up 224 yards to the Lions, 118 to the Chiefs (who had no running game this year), 167 to the Texans, it was a real problem for them. So much so, they took Hamilton and moved him into that hybrid LB role where he spent the rest of the year. They finished right around us in every other category.

Total Defense - Pitt 17, Balt 18
Passing - Pitt 29, Balt 30
Rush - Pitt 13, Balt 10

Baltimore did finish with only 30 sacks, putting them at 27th (we were 6th with 48), but they did finish 4th in the league in QB hits. So again, their pass rush wasn't the issue, guys were just wide open due to the secondary and QB's were able to get rid of the ball before the rush got there. Getting Crosby doesn't push them over the top in pass rush, until they fix their secondary it doesn't matter if they had Garrett, Crosby, and Watt...

Fair enough, though I'd argue sacks are more valuable than pressures.

Sacks kill drives, and the Ravens have to get the QB to the ground with more consistency, especially with how athletic most of the top QBs are in today's game.

Generally speaking, I don't see how adding Crosby cannot make the Ravens better. They havent had an edge player of his caliber since prime Terrell Suggs.

Their offense will be good if Lamar stays healthy.

This was a good move by the Ratbirds, no doubt.. they are going all in. Crosby has about 5 or 6 years of effective play left... he isnt as good as Garrett or TJ, but he is impactful right now... the drat is deep in passrushers, but most wont be ready for a couple years... there are a decent amount of good UFA edge guys, but none are great pass rushers per se...

The ravens have to know that guys like lamar fall off a cliff in their early 30's.. they cant waste a year or two.. win now or they are ******

Unless in B & G ?

Salute the nation

Does this mean there’s a greater possibility that the Raiders trade out of number one overall?

Doubtful, I think there are all in on the QB pick.

Probably has the opposite effect - given the Raiders lack of Oline and receivers, Mendoza would have been going into a pretty ugly offensive situation so the Raiders may have traded out of number 1 to get an extra first rounder or two to put in place some oline and receivers before going after a quarterback. The Raiders now have a decent set of draft picks (three firsts excluding this year's number 1 and top of the second round this year) to build the oline and receiver rooms around Mendoza over the next two years..

Crosby's pressure rate last season was his lowest in 5 years. By a wide margin. The #14 overall pick this year plus another first round choice in 2027 seems like a lot to give up for a player in decline, plus absorbing his $30+ million cap hit is no small measure. And the Ravens are really big trouble if he gets back on the sauce.

The Rams have made one first round pick in the last decade but have contended because they get a sure thing instead of a guy who might bust out.
All Im gonna say is if you can't pick a good football player in the top 32 of all the eligible players. That's on you. Here are the best players on the Steelers: Watt, Highsmith, Heyward, Porter, The Centre and the right side of the Oline, Herbig, Harmon, Black, Wilson
UFA but young talent evaluation: Warren, I think Pierre,
So you line up what they got from FA and trade against that?
