Cousins to sign 3 year $84million contract with Vikes

Cousins is 26-31-1 as a starter and vs teams with at least 9 wins, he's 4-16. I heard that on the radio, so if they're not exactly right my bad. 0 playoff wins.

teams grossly overpay for QBs with no history of success.....the 49ers broke the bank for jimmy g after what, 6 games as a starter and now the vikings reportedly over spent for a QB with a mediocre history

Im just glad cousins didn't goto the browns. They would have scored 50 on us.

I didn't understand the Vikings dire need for a qb. Keenum was better than solid and if they had all that money they could have given him plenty of pieces to play with

funny that they had 3 guys with a history with their team (Keenum, Bradford and Bridgewater) and they choose to go for Cousins.....

And for every Jimmy there is a QB that doesn't pan out.

It reeks of desperation.

The Steelers will offer Ben something similar to Brees. They may as well do it this offseason, especially if they have hopes of signing a free agent to improve the D. Next year might be too late.

Vikings were in the top 10 on amount of salary cap left to spend. Seems an odd way to spend a big chunk of it.

Washington is a dumpster fire. Getting any wins there, and that terrible team to the playoffs are a testament to Cousin's ability, not the other way around.

What I don't understand is how his contract can be fully guaranteed. If it is, it see it as a problem for owners moving forward, because players are going to want fully guaranteed contracts. I'm surprised the league would accept the terms of this contract, because it's a game changer.

The only way currently to have 86M guaranteed, under this collective bargaining agreement, is to have all $86M as a signing bonus/first year salary, with no salary for years 2 and 3. Because salary is not guaranteed. I can't wait to see the splits of this contract. It will help us all understand the guaranteed money.

I couldn't agree more, and I'm not necessarily saying he's a bad QB, but to give a guy that much cash to a QB who hasn't really done a whole lot.
Yeah this contract thing will be interesting.

How? How do they go from having Bradford Bridgewater, and Keenum. Doing VERY WELL, and then bringing in Kirk Cousins for this kind of crazy money?

I don't get it either. They had 2 starters on the roster and then do this? That's crazy. Granted, I'm not sold on Teddy, and Keenum might turn into a turd this year but I don't trust Cousins much more.

This craziness all started with Flacco. When the Ravens gave him $100 Million, it's as if the rest of the league then just said **** It, we just pay any starter huge money regardless of how good he is. If he's your starter he gets a ton of money.

Arizona is paying Sam Bradford $20 Million this year. That shows your the insanity of QB money.

The Vikes and Jets showed last year that you don't need to pay top dollar to get a veteran QB. I understand paying big bucks for Brady, Ben, Rodgers and the top line guys. They make those around them better.

But now you have teams happily forking over huge contracts to mid level talents. How much better is Cousins than Keenum?

Then theres foles sitting on the Eagles, Superbowl MVP making 5 M / yr.. WTF

The winner in all of this is Sam Bradford. Getting paid, and never really done ****.
