Cooks traded to Rams

I think we've learned from the past decade. If the Pats want to trade for draft picks, hang the **** up...

Its like you ******* dont even read my posts. Lol.

it doesn't matter how much the pats* gave up for Cooks vs what they got, it's still stupid what the Rams paid for him.

It's like justifying that someone bought that Honda Accord for the price of a Lexus because he then sold it for the price of a Mercedes. They still overbought an Accord

This trade also tells you that WR is weak in this draft, Ridley is generally considered the top WR and he didn't test very well. He may not be more than a possession guy.

It's a high price to pay for Cooks. They would have been better off signing Mike Wallace.

Brandon Cooks is exactly what the Rams and Pats paid for. A 26 year old player who will get 1100 yards and 7 td. Explain to me how the Pats could pay almost exactly the same thing last year and now are so incredibly smart for getting what they put in last year.

Oh and by the way the end of last years draft was a hell of a lot better than this year. There were players like Watt, Budda Baker and the guy the Saints got for Cooks started 16 games at Tackle. Jesus the Steelers got Juju late second round. Dont think this draft is quite the same. Not everything the Pats do is gold.

Brandin Cooks is the only receiver other than AB to post 1000 yards and seven touchdowns in 2015, 2016 and 2017. You have to wonder what he's like in the locker room though as he has been traded twice now.

I agree that this draft seems to be weak at WR so if you don't believe that the #23 pick will get you a player better than Cooks then why not?

I would guess that Mr Bunchen is probably pretty pissed off at this point in time. Unless they're trading for OBJ... :anyone:

Yeap, I want a trade down if no one fell

We traded Santonio Holmes for a third round pick. He was better than Cooks.

IIRC Pitt received a 6th for Holmes. He was getting suspended for weed use. Jets knew that before the trade.

Let also not pretend that the Pats knock it out the park during the draft, either.

Quite frankly, I am much more afraid of who the Pats acquire in FA than who they draft.

I totaly agree. And currently their wide receiver corp is Edelman, Hogan, Britt and Patterson. Thats is two underachievers and two injury liabilities. Brady is unbelievable but they are one injury away from pretty big problems.

Funny how Cheats fans are now talking him down like he was a bad fit and how brilliant Belichick is for dealing him, his stats show otherwise. Problem is there are no elite receivers in the first round this year that can immediately duplicate those numbers. So unless they trade their first round picks for Beckham Jr they'll likely use the picks to trade up for a QB, although the elite QBs should be gone in the first 10 pics so maybe they'll wait and grab someone they can groom like Rudolph later in the first. So I think the Cooks trade is more about building for the future with the extra pick, and there's some desperation to it since they botched the Garappolo situation and now need a future QB with Brady turning 41.

I don't think it is that bad of a trade for Rams if they can sign Cooks long-term. If they were targeting a WR at #23, Cooks is more of a proven quantity with
experience, plus they will get another decent player with Pats 4th round pick.

I don't see Pats bundling picks get a top QB back up. They have way too many holes to fill. They need a Left Tackle and I believe they hope McGlinley falls to #23.
They also need a RB, WR, DL and OLB. They have 4 picks in top 63, but I believe they traded their #3 to Cleveland and now #4 to Rams.

Exactly. Everyone who states “we can’t trade Bell because he’s not worth blah” can bite it. Now, I do believe a lot of the fan base and Bell himself have an inflated value of #26. But a first round pick plus conditional(s) or Bell + #28 overall for a top 5 pick is a legitimate value.

We can’t trade Bell because he’s not under contract.

Dude is a damn good receiver, & you can put him down for 90 catches plus....He’s gonna ball here in Los Ángeles.

Pats are gonna regret this move.....

look for them to draft Gesicki and voilá, they can play with 1 outside WR, 1 slot WR and 2 TE that can stretch the field.

Cooks is a similar one trick pony to Wallace. The saints traded him because they realized they could get similar production from Ted Ginn. Pats probably realized the same.

Pats traded for Phillip Dorsett last year. They also have Malcolm Mitchell who has battled injuries so far, and they got Cordarelle Patterson. My guess is the Pats figure that one of those 3 can be the field stretcher at a much smaller price than Cooks.

It does seem the Pats are planning a move. The 2 logical targets are QB or TE.

They have 2 late 1st rounder. Probably only enough to move up to about 15 overall. In that range, there’s probably won’t be an impact defensive player worth the move. Same with WR and OL. They signed Jeremy Hill so RB is probably not a consideration.

If the QB they like falls to the mid round, the pats might make the move. I’m guessing they like Rosen, Allen, and Mayfield. Allen would not shock me if he went 1st overall or was available late in the 1st. Pats like wonderlic guys. Allen would be a perfect guy to learn behind Brady for a few seasons. Brady may actually be ready to teach a bit because he has to see then end coming.

TE is the other potential impact position for the pats. I would not be shocked if they drafted 2 TEs in the first if the TEs fall. My guess is they love Gesicki as the potential best impact pass catcher in this draft. Hard to say where Gesicki will go. All it takes is 1 team to fall in love with his redzone potential and the lack of top WRs could also push Gesicki up the boards.

Maybe they trade a 2nd rounder to move up a few slots and get Gesicki, then draft a blocking TE with their second 1st rounder.

Tape, Pats beat writer spoke with NFL radio and commented they wanted to keep Cooks, and tried to work out an extension. When it looked like the economics wasn’t going to work for them they were going to let him play out the year. LA then offered their 1st rounder and Belichick felt the value was there to accept it. He also said, while possible, they probably aren’t trading up unless it’s to get a LT, but will probably be able to get one staying still and using the other on a QB or DL. They have 2 2nd rounders and a QB is in play there to. Rudolph or the kid from Richmond.

Yeams are starting to realize that unless you gave a generational guy you better win early. Hard to surround talent around a guy who eats up a 1/4 of the cap.
I love YAMS!!!

Is this code for "the SEC sucks"???

I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats targeted Tate with one of their firsts. That kid looks to be a big bodied, sure handed NFL WR.

No, it’s just fact that Ridley tested out like an old man at the Y that shoot free throws underhand.

short arms, small hands, terrible agility numbers, and laughably awful vertical and broad jump.

but he went to Alabama, so he’s awesome
