Looks like the Pats* are building draft capital. Trade up for a QB..?
 
The Cheats just raped the Rams in that trade. Cooks for a 1st round pick. Are you freaking kidding me? The rich get richer. The Cheats now have 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks. Unbelievable. If Cooks is worth a 1st, Bell must be worth 2 or 3 1st rounders to somebody.

And, I believe Cooks is on the final year of his contract.

Exactly. Everyone who states “we can’t trade Bell because he’s not worth blah” can bite it. Now, I do believe a lot of the fan base and Bell himself have an inflated value of #26. But a first round pick plus conditional(s) or Bell + #28 overall for a top 5 pick is a legitimate value.

Cooks has been productive for the last three seasons, but that is a lot more than I would have given up for him.
 
I swear the Cheats blackmail teams into these sweetheart trades... like the get an all pro guy for a fifth or something then deal scraps for firsts... makes no sense... at all...

Pats seem to know how to push the correct buttons and seem to always have enough money to do as they please
 
Before we say what a great move this is by the Pats lets remember that they got slightly less than they gave up a year ago. They gave up a first and a third for Cooks and a fourth. They got a first and a sixth for Cooks and a fourth. Plus they lost Amendola and didn't get Jordy Nelson, so their receiver squad is down to Hogan and Edelmann who is always hurt. If they do take Vander Esche I would say that says something. I don't think they are. They are looking for something bigger than that.
 
What the heck? How is trade remotely possible? Cooks and a 4th for the #23 and a 6th.....are you kidding me? Who makes that sort of trade for a what I would only call a good WR that are almost a dime a dozen. This makes zero sense.

Well the Pats did except it was a third not a sixth.
 
Folks need to calm down. This trade happened because Giants declined a trade for OBJ. Patriots wasn’t going to pay Cooks next year as this is his 5th year rookie deal at 8 mil. His FA cost will be 14/year in 2019. LA doesn’t have a second, wouldn’t add next years 1st rounder. That’s why NY said no. NE will probably OT and DL since they don’t have a starting LT on the roster and they are thin on the front D front 4.

Of course we could trade Bell for a first rounder. People need to stop listening to the beat writers. All that's required is the front office having the courage to do it.

Bell hasn't seemed like the type to do ANYTHING to help the Steelers without (un)just compensation. So, I wouldn't place any money on that happening. Unless the team he's being traded to agrees to pay his $17M/yr demand. Odds on that happening are slim to none
 
Rams are going all in to win the super bowl this year. They have 2 years before they will have to give Goff over $100 million. They probably cant keep Goff and Donald.
 
Yeams are starting to realize that unless you gave a generational guy you better win early. Hard to surround talent around a guy who eats up a 1/4 of the cap.
 
cooks for a late 1st rounder? how much is AB worth? 3 first rounders?
