College Week 8 Whiteout Edition

Now he’s missing wide open guys.

Defense is getting tired now. This may not end well for State.

We got ourselves a game now!

Penn State is done. They can’t figure out Michigan’s defense. They had opportunities, but Clifford throws the deep ball like Edward ******* Scissorhands, and they have pissed away several opportunities because of him. The guy can beat Buffalo and Idaho, but is getting exposed by a major college defense. Just got bailed out by a penalty. Yay.

About ******* time. Surprised he didn’t under throw it like all the other times.

This last Michigan drive had ******* holds galore on it. What ****.

Penn State HAS to score on this drive. The defense is spent.

Wow. The wheels are coming off.

Michigan statistically dominated. They just had too many missed opportunities. That was a good game to watch.

Penn State dodged a bullet. Period. The play calling and execution in the second half was pathetic. Wonder how bad Ohio State will embarrass this team.

In fairness, if Clifford had any kind of accuracy on deep passes this game ends 49-21. Clifford kept it close.

Here's the difference. If Georgia wins the SEC, they are in the playoff. No doubt. If Wisconsin now wins the Big Ten, there's a good shot they get left out just like Ohio State did last year.

That's why the georgia loss is ultimately meaningless. They still control their destiny. Wisconsin's only chance is to win out and hope they face an undefeated Penn State in the Big Ten championship. If they beat Ohio State next week, then they play OSU again and beat them again in the championship, I bet Wisky gets left out of playoffs.

Big difference

Not this **** again. Last year you had 3 unbeaten teams. Bama, Clemson and ND. Then you had OU who lost to Texas by 3 points during the season but then beat them in the conference championship game. So you want to leave who out? ND? They are unbeaten. You want to leave out OU? They were only beaten by 3 points to a team that made the conference championship game. OSU got beat by 29 points to an unranked Purdue. But of course your bias shows and you want to put in the team that got hammered by an unranked team.. typical.

Fact is Wisconsin isn't winning the big 10. They'll get steamrolled next week at OSU. They can't handle IL they sure aren't going to beat OSU on the road. OSU will probably win the big 10 again like they always do and they'll make the playoff this year. So then you can stop crying about them not being there.

I’m a UGA alum, so of course I’ll have some SEC bias.
The dawgs control their destiny. Nothing more nothing less.

If they win out, I’ll say they deserve to be in.
But they have to win the conference. South Carolina has looked to find an identity and gave them gators a fit for....a bit.

I doubt Wisconsin beats OSU. I also doubt Georgia beats Bama or LSU. But that's not the point. The point is they are not on equal footing due to the undeniable bias toward the SEC. As i said, If Wisky somehow wins out, the only scenario they make the playoff is if they beat an undefeated Penn State.

Georgia needs no qualifiers. They need no help. They win and they are in.

Yes, ND should have been excluded in favor of Ohio State. My problem is that there's no consistent criteria. Notre Dams must get in because they are unbeaten. OK, then what about Central Florida. Well **** them, they can play in the who gives a **** bowl and shut up.

NOBODY thought ND was better than Ohio State last year. So are we going with best 4 or is there a some set criteria

Over the years of the BCS and now these playoffs, sometimes they say a conference title means everything. Next year it means nothing. They were penalizing the Big 12 for not playing a conference championship game. That was a huge deal. Then Bama doesn't win the SEC and doesn't play the championship but they get picked anyway, so then a conference championship game meant nothing.

This committee is all a farce. They pick the teams they want and just fill in the reasons afterward.

I don't know why MIchigan DC Don Brown get all this love. I think he's an idiot. All this guy does is put his DBs in man coverage with no help over the top and then load the box. Apparently it doesn't even matter if that means a Safety lines up on one of the most explosive WRs in college. Nope, that safety is supposed to cover that guy.

This will work at a team like Michigan where you will have more talent that most teams you play so that pressure will just break most college QBs. But what happens when you face a good team? You get blown out because their OL picks up your blitz and they WR torches your dlow footed safety.

As others have said, this game could have been a blowout for Penn State if Clifford connected on a few more of the deep chances that he had over and over.

Talent wise this was an even match. I don't understand why you put your defense in that position

As for Penn State, i still stand by my theory that Franklin sees this as a development year for the future. Even in a big game like this, they stayed dedicated to rotating tons of guys at multiple positions.

Right now Noah Cain is obviously the best RB they have. I think if they just ran the ball with Cain in the second half, they could have won this game easy. But they stay committed to rotating backs and receivers and while it does get lots of guys experience, it also means you don't have that reliable second playmaker after Hamler.

I'm worried about Michigan State next week. I don't think they're great but the Big Ten seems to always schedule this game after Penn State has a huge emotional game. As a result Penn State has played very flat against MSU in the last few years.

You saw Penn State's star potential but also saw their inexperience against Michigan. I don't think they will beat Ohio State this year. But if they can finish 11-1, that's one hell of a season.

Clifford was just awful in this game. I don’t think he is any good to begin with, but he was exceptionally bad last night. Some of the deep throws he missed are inexcusable. The one that sticks out the most was the one where Hamler was running wide open, if it’s on the money or even close it’s 6, but the ball was so badly under thrown Hamler ended up in double coverage. Unfortunately for State, he is probably their best option at QB, so not much you can do.

As much as I hate Harbawl, he out coached Franklin in the second half and Penn State wasn't making adjustments on either side of the ball. I live and breath Penn State football, but this team is far too inexperienced and the coaching staff seem to be a little lost on how to cover the gaps. Being honest, they're not the #7, soon to be the #6 team in the country.

In that same manner, Bama isn't the number 1 team. They haven't played a team with a winning record to date and they've struggled a bit in some areas. LSU is going to beat them up Nov 9th. Outside of LSU and Auburn, they have a cupcake schedule.

I see all of this bashing of Clifford and here I thought it was one of his best games as a QB, not a runner. He threw 3 beautiful/perfect balls for TD's and one other great long throw. Other than that, the O sucked. The OL sucked. They couldn't run the ball. And, the play calling was atrocious. They threw a few long throws and that was the entire offense. They never tried quick passes over the middle where the blitzing LB was coming from on every damn play. The Michigan D blitzed on just about every play and had 7+ men in the box. I saw no adjustments made.

The D played well for one quarter and then was beat bad. They were afraid to go after Clifford. With the 21 point lead, they should have been t-ing off on him but started to sit back. When they did blitz, they still rarely even got near him.

None of this will work in 3 weeks at Ohio State. They have a trap game this week at Michigan State and then go to Minnesota to play another undefeated team. I'm really not sure what this team will do in those games but, they did get a big win last night - 2 in a row against top 20 teams. I didn't think they had a chance in the Big 10 this year but they are still right at the top of the heap with 4 games and then a potential title game to play. Who knows.

This team is young and should be even better next year. Definitely good to see them as competitive as they are right now.

What concerns me is that some of these guys rotating will decide to enter the transfer protocol to get more playing time.
