Figured i'd start a thread to discuss the Tax Slayer Bowl between Penn State and Georgia and other less interesting games.

PSU hired a new coach - Keegan Michael Key

While I'd be happy with expanding the playoffs to 8 teams, 18th ranked Houston made me think it really needs to be 16 teams (based on conference champs, then best record, then strength of schedule).

i was able to stream some of the Houston vs FSU game while i was working. Not sure why FSU didn't use Dalvin Cook more especially when their QB was injured. Greg Ward did well in my Fanduel lineup though. Houston's coach will be in high demand in the next few years.

Great game by Wisconsin vs USC last night. Game started at 10:30 so most people probably didn't see it but Wisconsin dominated most of the game. USC has great athletes so they had some splash plays that scored poits but aside from those few plays, Wisc dominated both lines. The refs nearly screwed Wisc out of the win when they blew a play dead that was going to be a long TD. He was 10 yards past the last defender with the ball. They said the guy stepped out when replay showed he clearly did not but they blew the whistle so it was not reviewable. Would have been horrible if that cost them the game.

Memphis QB Paxton Lynch may have cost himself with a terrible game where he barely threw for over 100 yards. Some have him rated the #1 QB in the 2016 draft. A clunker like that will make teams look a lot harder at his film. Was he getting a bunch of easy yards vs bad opponents?

Houston likely would have been in an 8 team playoff. The power 5 conferences will get automatic spots, leaving 3 wildcards. The BCS had a provision where the champs of smaller conferences got an automatic bid so long as they were ranked above a certain mark. An 8 team playoff would likely have the same and Houston would have made it.

But let's face it, this is about money and the power 5 will only expand so they can get multiple teams in there. I think the magic number will be 12 teams. This allows for plenty of wildcards after conference champs get automatic berths. It also allows for a few teams to get byes which helps make the regular season more interesting.

I would not want it to go above 12 because then you are making the regular season almost irrelevant for the top teams.

Yes, the only bad thing about expanding the playoff is that it potentially takes away from the high stakes season-on-the-line regular season match-ups that is unique to college football.

The Holiday Bowl was amazing. Anyone who beats USC is a great team in my book.

Stayed up way too late to watch it. Was worth it.

Did anyone else notice that Tee Martin was the USC O Coordinator for that game?

I think Clemson is the better team, but Oklahoma is making it interesting. Much closer game than I thought.

The orange bowl is getting good. One point OK lead.

Why does one team get a sideline penalty the other gets a warning.......Is that a BIG thing?

Tape, the coogs kept stuffing Cook the whole first half and did not let him go off later either. His biggest play was a reception out of the backfield. The coogs were ready for him and frustrated the FSU offense the whole game. Even with those two cheap TDs in the 4th quarter....

Clemson has a lot of great athletes. Too much for Oklahoma. Michigan State will have their hands full stopping them.

What an *** kicking ..........

OU was quite the mouthy bunch......WAS

I'm glad Clemson won. I like Debo and can't stand OU. Cocky bunch of losers.

Dabo reminds of a young Bill Cowher......only more Mayberry Gooberish........

I iike the way MSU tackles .........hit hard and wrap up

Awful throw by Cook. Bad enough that he stared him down, but then he threw it flat . If he throws that to the back corner of the endzone, it has a chance.

Ward would have broke quite a few runs too. The way Bama is rushing so hard upfield, there are running lanes for the QB. Cook can't run but Ward and Watson can.

No way that was a TD, not that it would have mattered. The guy didn't have possession until he was OOB.

MSU should be embarrassed by this gameplan. Bama is not doing anything tricky on defense. Pretty much just cover 2 with man underneath. Pretty much what they did all year. I have no idea what MSU is even trying to do. It looks like their gameplan was for Cook to look deep on every single play then get sacked.
