CBS has us waiting until round 3 for defense

I'd have trouble passing on Greedy Williams in that scenario, I know his tackling is questionable, but I'm hoping you just match him up vs the other teams #1 and leave it at that.

The second best TE in the draft with the 20th pick. Where do they come up with this stuff.

I wouldn’t complain Fant is a weapon, we use 2 TE sets a lot. We have no back up currently at TE that’s a problem considering Past injuries. Fant kills 2 birds with one pick. His receiver skills are the best at his position in the draft. His 6’4” 250 frame adds to the red zone threats. His 4.46 40 makes it hard for LB to cover him esp if McDonald is also in the field. Can can even lineup in the slot.

That's all well and good but our defense is the problem. Stopping the pass and getting apple turnovers is the priority. Stopping the run is next...

The Steelers WOULD draft offense... That's what frightens me.

They had one out a few weeks ago where they took B Murphy. **** changes all the time to fit the particular narrative for the coming week.

If they cant trade back, i got no issue with taking Fant there. I don't want them taking a CB. Presumably, fant could help right away. They gotta do something in the second to fix the ILB issue. Barron might help, but i think he is short term fix.

Unless Barron's job is to teach Edmunds to take over there.

I do not see the logic is choosing Fant over Baker. Baker is a Day 1 starter at DB and, as I've said it over and over, he's more reliable than Greedy Williams and Murphy takes too many chances for me to feel comfortable with him...

If the Devin's are gone and we don't go w/ a DB - I want Lawrence (NT, Clemson) as Plan C...

Because i no longer trust them to draft a day 1 starter at CB?

Didnt Lawrence have some off the field issues?

if it fell like this, I'd believe the choices to be between:

Greedy Williams
AJ Brown
Andre Dillard

A strong point could be made for either of the three. As such, the pick could be Dillard.
After losing Gilbert, then snagging "best pass-blocking tackle in this draft" would be nice. Have to consider that the WR pool is deep this year. Dillard could start on the Right, then move the Left later.

in Round 2, I'd believe Collier could be a better choice, considering we have Durpee in his last year.

Hakeem Butler in Round 3-A would be a steal.
Round 3-B, I'd lean more towards Jamel Dean or Isaiah Johnson. An essential coin flip. One has injury concerns, the other is raw but physical.

1 Deandre Baker, CB, Georgia
2. Taylor Rapp, S, Washington
3 Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa State
3B. David Long Jr., LB, West Virginia

I'm taking players over positions. I'm not so worried about cornerbacks and tackling if it means you can get a lock down corner in the first. I'm also fine with adding maybe the best tight end in the draft.

I would not take Harmon. NC State fan here. Does not high point or use his body size well to battle for passes. Good college player but I just don't see him being more than average in the pros.

That would keep our D as a complete weakness for the rest of Ben's career. But, it would be huge for the O, not only for Ben but for whoever replaces him. They will have very good players at all skill positions on O.

If Fant is best player available at 20 I’m drafting him. No more reaching just to fill a need like we did with Burns, Uncle Jarvis and Edmonds who we could have had in the third.

There was rumblings there was interested parties looking at him in the second.

I doubt we take a ILB or CB since we signed FA to fill in those spots. Why would we sign Barron to be a 3 down ILB then draft a rookie for the same roll? I might be going out on a limb but I believe we will not draft a CB or ILB in the first round. TE,Edge or a big ugly(Oline or Dline)

I hear what you are saying but also hope they don't draft for need but DO draft best player available in round 1..... Go for need in rounds 2 / 3a / 3b, the rest play be who's there VS need / BPA

Salute the nation

I like Fant. Take Paris Campbell in rd 2 in that scenario

I'm not sure Barron is a 3 down LB, not sure how well he plays the run, I see him as a upgraded version of Fort, play on passing downs

Our ILB's are the biggest weakness on the team. Vinnie Will is a 2 down guy, was slow to begin with and is getting slower. He plays well against the run and is a good pass rusher. Barron may be a 3 down guy - maybe. But, that is all we have and that's after signing Barron. We still need a true 3 down starter in there and a guy that can replace Vinnie in 2 years, max. ILB is by far our biggest weakness. There is just NO conceivable reason to ignore your biggest need in the draft 2 years in a row. We should be moving up to 15 to try and get Bush. If not, we better get 2 ILB's in rounds 2 through 5 to hopefully groom to be starters.
