Cap Casualties

Sign sheard if not offer orakpo a incentive laced 3 year 8 mill deal that had option roster bonus that can make the deal overall worth a few mill extra each year via a roster bonus that would specify he gets a x amt of money for every game he starts over say 10 and for every sack after 5 and tackles over 45 and say maybe 100 k for every ff.
If worlds is willing to return at 6 years 38 mill 7 mill sb then that's ok but if he wants 4 years 35-40 mill let the jets or titans or saints overpay. Both sheard and orakpo Are almost or better edge rushers and sheard in butlers 4-3 can play de. As we'll not spending 38 mill over 6 years on worlids.
we can offer that same money at maxwell, yes his former dc is there but we are a better team then Atlanta so let's see if maxwell wants money more then willing or stay on the contender ship. Even if he goes to Atlanta they would have 2 good cb"s but still a sorry *** front 7 they really need a guy like Shelton but I think they May be leaning towards Beasley a good edge rusher but it won't solve their Swiss cheese interior problems.
We should retain McCain and if maxwell is not interested rolle would be a big upgrade over Troy at ss and either cox or Kareem Jackson along with McCain give us a better coverage secondary, you then draft a few guys that in a year can replace McCain, gay and perhaps Blake it would make the cb competition very competive with no one gaurenteed a starting spot aside from gay you would have McCain vs(cox/Jackson ) and in the slot Blake vs Webb vs rookie.

Jacoby Jones would be an interesting prospect. The only problem is that he is not that great when you remove the ability to hold.

Ravens are allows to hold (see pic below), or any play where James Harrison rushes.
Steelers are NOT allowed to hold.

For the love of God, could you please contruct your ideas into proper sentences and paragraphs like an educated human being??

I agree.

F83. you seem to be an enthusiastic poster. But your syntax and sentence structure could use some work.

Refs even took about poor Lil' Dri's only TD from a phantom hold we didn't even do!

The reason Blount didn't work is he had delusions that he would be -co-starter with Bell. That is Tate's problem also. He wants to start and won't be satisfied as a #2.

The steelers need a versatile RB as backup. They also need him to be a guy who accepts that he is the clear #2. That probably rules out Spiller. Bush can go either way. He split duty most of his career. He went to Detroit to be the man but ended up splitting duties again. Has he accepted that role or does he want one more shot at being the lead back?

Ray Rice is interesting. I think at this point, the media will allow a team to sign him. The time away could help his game because he'll be fresh. He's versatile and probably has 2 good years left in him. He could be motivated to play against the Ravens too since they threw him under the bus.

Helu - He's just OK. He cant beat out beat out Alfred Morris who is nothing special.

A few guys i'd be interested in

OLB O'Brien Schofield 6'3 260, - has experience in a 3-4. has mostly been a backup most recently in Seattle. In Arizona he had 4 sacks in back to back years as a backup.

DE/OLB Brandon Graham 6'2 265 - Eagles barely play him. Their transition to the 3-4 has not been smooth. Graham is a good pass rusher when he's on the field.

DE/OLB Pernell McPhee 6'3 260 - becoming a really good player. Could be the player the Steeler hoped Worilds would be. I have a feeling he will be expensive so probably not an option.

OLB Derrick Morgan 6'3 261 - semi bust for the Titans as a first rounder. He's had 6 or more sacks the last 3 years. Solid production if you can get him at a good price to be a depth player.

Jason Worilds - The steelers need somebody. I'd welcome Worilds back at a reasonable price.

I'm hoping they can sign somebody at least at Worilds level and then land a good pass rusher in the draft.

Rice would be a nice pick up...he obviously has the hands to catch the ball out of the back field. I don't see the Steelers going near him though.

Stop. Just ******* stop. Houston will get the franchise tag from the Chiefs. If not, he will probably become the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. He is not going to sign with the Steelers nor have the Steelers spent 1 ******* second thinking that it's a possibility.

You may be right but that don't mean things can't change, heck last year we spent more then we usually do. Would we sign a top fa I am sure we won't but that don't mean we can't talk about it. As far as the Chiefs tagging Houston everything I read has them drafting a guy and not using the tag:
"Sources tell me the Kansas City Chiefs are considering Benardrcik McKinney as a possible replacement for Justin Houston." - Tony Pauline.

I know he is a pipe dream but if you are going to dream dream big..........

Ravens cut Chris Canty. Raven fans in a dizzy on twitter.

With the league year I believe starting Monday or sometime over the next week, the blood bath is only going to continue. Get those templates ready

Tyvon Branch might be worth a try. Ran a sub 4.3 (yes years ago) but is still quick. If not for injury could have been a pro bowl type player. I could see a team like the Chiefs who need a safety asap making a play early but besides them I think most will hold off because of his injury history. Could be a nice cheap addition if he doesn't sign right away and still has potential to be a good safety.

If Canty was interested in a cheap deal to serve as a backup to Heyward and Tuitt, that would be worth a look. We have no depth there given the Keisel and Cam Thomas will both be cut.

Do y'all not know F83 and his history here? Been around for ages. Since he was a teenager. Of Indian descent and lives in Canuckistan.

Unless I am mistaken about who he is.

The enter key is really helpful to readers.

Pakistani, I believe. Won't appreciate you making that error, better look under your car before you start it.

Ah. That would be an error. I apologize to Far, if so.

He also suffered a stroke a few years back if I remember right, could play a part in his jumbled posts. I've just learned over the years to deal with it, he's passionate and been here ten years plus.

Well damn, i am sorry to hear of this. Far, you jumble those run-on sentences to your heart's content

That's dabus, he's been here a long time and has really improved his posts from ten years ago. I read his short posts but shy away from the longer ones as long as he's not trading fu...

Browns sign Qb Josh Mccown. Lol.

So when he beats us that one time next season, what are you going to say???

Again, of all the pre-fiscal year cuts (which DON'T count on your free agency add/deduct compensatory analysis), the ones most to look at are the running backs. There is a good crop of running backs in the draft, but Colbert should still definitely try to get one in free agency and one in the draft to fill our our 3 RB roster (Archer doesn't count). If we sign someone like Darren McFadden in free agency that counts against our plus/minus compensatory count. If we sign one of the recent "cuts" like Reggie Bush, then it doesn't count in the free agency/compensatory plus/minus equation.

I think I'd really look at Reggie Bush right now. Get him under contract. There are big backs in this draft that would complement a tandem of Bell, Bush and a 6'0"/220 lbs. rookie we can get in round 5 or 6 to fill out the roster. And honestly, I can live with 11 personnel and spread them out with Roethlisberger and Bush as the primary back for the 2 weeks Bell could be suspended.

How much is Bush worth right now? Can I get him for 2-years, $4 million? That's close to what we spend on Blount....
