Cap Casualties

Possibly. Jason La Canfora has him at $7.5 million per year and I believe Graham in that range as well. I've also read that Dejan Kovacevic believes that the Steelers will sign him and that Worilds will take a little less to stay because he wants to be here. Then again, they need a guy who can get to the quarterback. We've seen what Worilds can do, do they think they can do better in free agency?
 
The possible Bell suspension changes things a bit. With a suspension , i would have no interest in a free agent RB because the draft is so deep. But a rookie may not be ready to go by week 1, at least not in the passing game and that is now a big part of the steeler offense.

They may have to get a guy like Bush, Spiller, or Vereen, a veteran who can reasonably fill in for Bell right from week 1.
 
One of the things to keep in mind is that while "technically" no deals can be discussed between the agents and outside teams until the free agency period, it happens all the time. Deals are outlined at places like the Senior Bowl and the combine and "put together" when FA hits. That's how Wallace signed with Miami so quickly. So, maybe the Steelers actually have a move lined up already. It's outside their normal operating procedure, but it's possible.
 
Sign Orakpo to a 2-3 year, incentive-laden deal that is easily cancelled at minimal cost. Re-sign Moats and McCain. Draft at least one edge rusher type and multiple corners/safeties.

If Orakpo can stay healthy he would be a great FA signing. He's 28yrs old I think and when he's healthy he's a monster....freakishly strong and pretty fast around the edge. Could be a short term solution to our weakness at OLB and with his health issues we might get him at a good cap friendly price.

Tate is already here and can do everything that the proposed names can. Vereen and Helu are interesting options as well...but I wouldn't spend unnecessary money when we haven't even given Tate a chance.
 
The Steelers freed up a nice chunk of change yesterday or day before I can't remember exactly when, regardless, what if they let worilds walk and try to sign both McPhee and Sheard? McPhee had the same number of sacks as Worilds playing substantially less snaps because he was behind Dumervil and Suggs, while Worilds was a full time starter. Sheard should come in and push Jones immediately and you weaken two division rivals in the process.

Bush could be interesting. I'm not a big fan of his but feel like he would be a viable back up especially in the absence of Leveon.

At his age, recent injuries and the opportunity to play in Pittsburgh he may be affordable.
 
Oh, good Lord... I would LOVE to have Frank Gore on this team!! Dude has been nothing but productive since he arrived in Coral Gables as a freshman. Little-known story about Gore, dude went to Coral Gables HS and has/had a learning disability...couldn't make great grades, etc...but Butch Davis took a chance on him and he took advantage of the opportunities at UM. He's been productive at SF...He kind of hit a wall, but would make for a great reserve. He's also never been in trouble at any level, so seems to be a good locker room guy as well...

As for Reggie Bush, only sign him if you're going to NOT use him as a RB. He needs to be a hybrid RB/WR/Slot guy. yeah, yeah, I know..."he was never used right"...template...I know. Truthfully speaking though, when he was in NO and tearing it up...the Saints were using him in a multitude of ways...

The one that is most interesting is Darren McFadden...Dude was a freak at Arkansas...probably should have won the Heisman over Tim Tebow (don't tell any of my fellow Gator fans I said that)... but in Oakland he's basically disappeared. Is he not any good or is it just that he's in Oakland?
 
Not a casualty or anything yet but I read on a CBS affiliate that Ike said he wants to play next year as does Troy and Deisel. He said Troy is already training and that he, Troy, Deisel and Harrison still have good football left in them. I can see Harrison coming back. I'd hate to see Troy play elsewhere but the only way I see him coming back is if he takes a pay cut as I don't think he will start for the entire season.
 
McFadden is not very good. I really don't see us picking up a nearly-washed up RB who is used to a lot of playing time. Would rather have younger legs. Don't forget how helpful it is if your backup RB can play special teams...that help with roster flexibility quite a bit. Guys like Bush and McFadden don't give you that.

Spiller is going to cost too much and want the ball too much. Vereen and Helu are more likely targets, IMO.
 
Miami is looking to off load Mike Wallace. Big surprise there..."young $$"!

According to the report, the team is seeking a trade because of his lack of production and his poor chemistry in the locker room with teammates and coaches.

What a D-bag. I hope he ends up in Cleveland.

No team is going to take on Wallace's contract. Miami will have to keep him or cut him.
 
Let's pick up Vereen. That way we can cut him mid season when he walks off the field and NE can pick him back up for another superbowl run.

Never understood the vitriol some Steeler fans had for Wallace.

From all accounts, he was a good teammate and a very solid contributor while he was with the team.

He didn't play up to par in his last season because the only thing on his mind was his contract. I think the only issue people had with him is that he didn't do a great job fighting for 50-50 deep balls. He allowed a few interceptions that could have been prevented (sometimes a WR needs to play defense) and never really made an effort to tackle the guy who just picked off a pass.

good luck with that trade... The guy is overpayed and also is labeled as problematic, who's gonna give anything for that?
The only solution for the dolphins would be to trade for another problematic player, giving both a fresh start

I'd like to add that Wallace in the correct system could be a very useful player, maybe if you are a team with shitloads of cap room and have a QB with a gun for an arm you'd be interested in him. But there have to be something else in the trade to compensate the salary

Plus, he didn't even fight for the ball tbat hit his hands in SB XLV. Last play if you drop it. Game over and he just leg it go through his hands. I'm still bitter.

This, this, and this. If the ball did not hit him perfectly, in stride, he would not come up with it. No adjustment, no fighting for the ball. Was not sad to see him go.
