Can we cut Davis

Ground does that to every team he plays, can't hate on Davis for that. Instead, hate on the person that went into Martyball mode on the two Steeler drives prior to the *pats last TD.
You have to outscore that team, you will never run the clock out on them in a close game.

I mean I gotta agreee. Simply put, they couldn't stop our offense at any point in this game. The only thing that stopped the offense was themselves. That and a timely holding call on Villanueva, when the Steelers started inskde the 5, and were going on a season defining drive to end the game, and beat these cheating *****. Hate to be so salty about officiating, but this one is hard to swallow.

I'd rather get rid of Mitchell, it would have been smart for a Free Safety to go where he was needed to help his D be successful instead of being 10 yards away from every play on the field when they happened.

Davis struggled, but where was the adjustment to help him out? They left him on an island. Shame on the coaching for putting him in that situation over and over again.

Burns flat sucked tonite.

That first TD was all him. the running TD in the 4th was him turning his back at the goal line like a girl. He made some plays but every week it's a contest to make more good plays than bad and this week he lost big time. I think he's got a big head a a Neon Deon attitude about tackling. I wouldn't cut him but I would kick his *** every time he played stupid.

No way Davis can cover Gronk, he needed help and never got it.....either Mitchell failed or the defense never accounted for it....I think Davis tried his best and it just wasn't good enough.

I meant to say Burns sucked....sorry for the error

Davis struggled, but I put a lot of it on Tomlin and Butler. They simply asked too much of the kid.

How many plays was Davis asked to man up on basically the Randy Moss of TEs with basically no help?

It was ridiculous.

Good news is that Butler seems to be progressing as DC. First he fails to cover Gronk with anyone, then he covers him with only one guy who isn't up to the task, so maybe next time he'll put a guy on him with some help? Hopefully , thats how it'll be should we meet them in the playoffs.

Davis thinks he’s a lot better then he is. He’s been getting smoked all year

Based on what they asked Davis to do tonight, I'd argue the coaches overestimate him as well.

Pretty much every team goes into a game against the Patriots intending to regularly double team/bracket Gronkowski, but not the Steelers apparently.

Davis will be a very good player. I thought he played pretty well today against Gronk. Nobody in the league can single cover Gronk. Davis at least made a bunch of his catches difficult. Gronk just kept making the plays.

I'd also put more of that on the coaches than Davis. Even if they thought he could cover him one on one, it became clear very quickly that it wasn't going to happen. No adjustments.

There are pittfalls of Man. But clearly in my mind it is the only way to win. But you have to give a guy help too. He was there on most passes and completly hung out on the two point. No one is covering that play.

Davis doesn’t have the size to cover Gronk, in fact, there are few defensive backs that do. Single coverage downfield, he may have won some battles, but Gronk is something freakish.

Eric Berry is pretty much the only one who can cover gronk one on one. That burns pi call was bullshit, gronk is pushing off just like he usually does. The coaches could have made some adjustments, but well you know tomlin hasn't ever seen gronk do this before.

Mike Mitchell might be the most worthless player on defense(other is Bud). His play making skills consists of tackling or attempting to talk the ball 20-30 yards down field after the WR/TE catches the ball.

Oh the coaches deserve their fair share of **** too. On the winning drive for them, the ran the same ******* post pattern/play to gronkowski all the way down the field. At what point do double up on him? It ******* sucks because the defense played well for the better part of the game, but just couldn't make that final play. If they hit Brady just once more, they don't go down the field. He was hurrying **** all day when we had the pressure. Hell, we had an opportunity and Davis couldn't come up with it. He makes that play, even though it was somewhat difficult, he's a ******* hero.

I don’t get thi overwhelming hatred of Davis. Who the hell can stop Gronk after a weeks vacation and with out our best cover guy.?

Davis got light up and dropped an interception.

He was was going one way the ball was behind him. It was would of been a great play but far from easy..

It wouldn't have been easy, and it would've been a helluva play, but these guys are athletes, and can make plays like that better than the average man. It certainly was one that he could've made, and even with getting beat for the better part of the day, would've made him the hero of the game. Hell, Gronkowski was once shut down by Cortez Allen.

It would of been a hell a catch for a WR he is a DB. Cortez Allen was a CB im not surprised he had a easier time playing Gronk as a CB in man to man. Which is why i say if we see then again. Go dime in passing situations and use 29 vs Gronk and with Davis over the top. Biggest corner we have. He can play press and stay underneath because he knows he always has davis over the top. Hopefully haden will be back he and Burns can man up on the WRs.

Nobody in the league can guard Gronk. Nobody.

This. And it's why I was screaming at the TV on the **ts winning drive for help covering him, not that it did any good.

They left Burns out there by himself, and that's on the coaching staff.
