yeah Mitchell IMO is the weak link to the D. Never a INT, and rarely in a position to swat the ball away. If he is close enough to hit the player, they will catch it. And he will lay this impressive hit on them and get up and brag about it.

Get ahold of another cover corner, get another Troy and fix or replace the broken LBers.

One thing I learned from that game. If you want to bump and run with Gronk, you need to hit him with a LB and bracket with a safety.
I would have loved to have seen Deebo bump him off the line, then go in every play. You can do it with Watt as well. That would be a different look and would disrupt timing.

I disagree Coach. Davis played his *** off and really didn't play all that bad considering the mismatch in size and weight. It was obvious from the get go that he needed help and no adjustments were made. Look at how the Ravens played AB over and under, that was what we needed on Gronk and it never was even attempted.

If Mitchell would have been the over on some of those catches, maybe Gronk gets the ball whacked out of his hands more often. I'm still torn between Lake and Mitchell but I don't feel Davis is the culprit here.....not 100% at least.

Mitchell imo had to stay where he was and honor Cooks speed
I thought the defensive game plan was executed well enough to win the game. They didn't blow the doors off of the Steeler defense. I think the worse play happened in the 1st qrt which was the double fake hand offs and pass deep down left side vs. zone defense.
Other than that Hilton played his tail off. Recall that would be William gay if it weren't for him. Gronk is their version of AB. He will beat double teams, so why risk the extra man when you need support in other areas?
We looked 100% better than the AFCC game last season. Just an unfortunate scenario at the end to finish off the game.

I was saying this all second half. If we get beat by their other receivers, so be it; but Gronkowski needs to be erased. And considering how Brady is always going his way, and the fact that our corners did a solid job on their receivers, it may be a different game.

Yawn......
We can beat them. Everyone knows it now. Yes we lost this game and might have to go to Fox Boro for a game in the playoffs but I for one truly believe we are the superior team. So cry all about this one game. It is over. Done with. We now know the route we will have to take to go to the SB. It is what it is. Period.

Keep trying Coach...you would hack at a dead tree if it would help. Davis isn't no Smith and Chip said it perfectly....he played about as well as any one can ask one on one. I know Carter at DK intimated they didn't chip Gronk with the LB because they felt the DBs could handle it and didn't want to compromise the integrity of the D with one player. But Gronk was lining up well off the ball that no LB could chip him.

leading up to this game how many would have been more than happy to know the Cheats would score 27 ? I know for 1 I would have been I thought all along we needed 30+ to win this game. The D was solid enough in comparison to recent Cheats games

WRONG! Davis played terribly. Gronk had his best game of the season ( I think ) and the dropped INT by Davis could have iced the game. Who says no LB could chip him. Did the Steelers even try?

I saw the video analysis on DK's site about Davis' coverage. He does need to hit Gronk at the line of scrimmage. Whoever is lined up opposite Gronk needs to hit him at the line and make him work to get into his route. Those extra milliseconds give our LBs and DL time to go after Brady.
Also factor in Gronk is a freakishly sized guy who is also highly skilled at what he does. We aren't the only team Gronk dominates. They'll adjust next time around and hopefully whatever the game plan is for Gronk is helped by having Haden out there.

I'm just reporting the news snowflake. Guys get beaten the entire game then runs his mouth. What do the F they call that in Marietta, OH?
Still pissed about losing the game. The same known flaws prevent us from getting where we need to go but keep filing it under everything's okay.
If the offense doesn't go 3 and out late in the game we close out this game 24-19. Lots of what ifs and Monday morning QB'ing, Tuesday now. We learn and move on. We have to handle business against Houston on Xmas Day and send the Clowns to 0-16.
