Butler: I’m coaching players for Super Bowl, not Pro Bowl

People can question Belichick's ethics all they want, but he knows what he's doing from a scheme standpoint.

I hate that cheating ******* but the simple fact is that his teams are down on their fundamentals and make very few mistakes. As compared to, say, Tomlin's teams which don't seem to know jack **** for fundamentals (except for Munch's OL) and make mistakes and blown assignments all day long. Belicheat also does something that is a foreign concept in Pittsburgh, that being the halftime adjustment.

That's just it. There is nothing special about NEs offense. I watched a pass from Brady to some WRs I can't name. It was 25 yards down field. Brady drops the ball on a dime. I couldn't hand it to him any better. As much as I hate them for cheating there is no way to cheat that. The guy was in perfect coverage. It wasn't just scheme. It was execution. Everything perfectly executed but with a good scheme to make sure Brady is protected and the WR got off clean.

Belicheat teaches discipline and fundamentals. Nobody is above the team. Just do your job or we will find someone else that can.

Notice how the Patriots do not get picked apart by the short passes to the extent that other teams do.

Look at how big their LBs are, compared to most teams.

Everyone is going to the smaller, quicker LBs to combat the increase in short passing, except for Belichick who seems to understand physics better than basically every other coach in the league.

Bigger LBs occupy more space and are better able to impact the routes of receivers with the slightest push/shove in a league that is becoming increasingly timing/short passing dependent.

In addition, keeping bigger LBs helps their ability to match up in crucial 3rd/4th and short situations.

Guess you didn’t get the memo, tomlin knows how to scheme the players can’t execute. Just ask him yourself

The thing is that both scheme and execution are reflective of coaching.

We've both seen the arguments that professional athletes somehow operate in a vacuum and the direction and leadership around them has nothing to do with their performance, but we know better.

It's just frustrating to know that the team we root for is at such a disadvantage due to its coach with no end in sight

Just read a tweet that was pointing out the Patriots teach their DBs to punch the ball up in pass coverage while most teams coach down, which makes it easier for the WR to make a catch. Don't know if that's actually the case, but it'll be something I watch for.

I got the memo.

I then proceeded to throw it in the trash and **** on it.

I have no idea. I just can tell they are well coached. They are rarely out of position. They make mistakes like all teams and have physical breakdowns as well. However, they take what the defense gives them and they execute a well thought out scheme.

you can't think of defenses in a vacuum the game is always changing and no matter what the defense is doing it will always be compared to the old steel curtain defense or to the men of steel defense. but along with rule changes like the "Blount rule" offenses have caught up. offenses now want you to blitz undersized outside linebackers they will block them and it takes a defender out of the flat. they want you play midget dbs they will lineup a tightend like druckcowski at wr and kill you to death. they want you to lineup your all pro defense end at tackle in a two man line so he can be triple teamed.... the kc qb said last year after he dismantled the steeler defense " it was like 7 on 7 out there". you have to adapt and we aint adapting and I have come around to the fact this staff can't adapt. to put it simple this staff from top to bottom is in over its head and it being out coached at every turn. waste of bits and bandwidth to argue over things until steeler clean house.

Bilicheat 's Tream can run pick plays and other teams can't. That's why he gets away with bigger LBs. Take away the pic plays and New England loses 35% of its offense. Give the other teams equal officiating and Billy boy would be forced to smaller LBs just like the rest of the NFL.

Honestly I can't tell what the hell is going on any more.

Well neither do Tomlin or Butler, but at least you admit it. What a tone deaf statement by Butler. Here is the issue as I see it. They do not play an aggressive at the line philosophy creating uncertainty of the QB as to who is bringing it. You have two very good cover corners in Haden and Nelson. I think they have played very well so far. you continually get gashed over the middle in the 10-15 yard zone, because you are so busy trying to stop the BIG play. ****** pack it up with all of these fast guys. Slam Hargrave, Tuitt and Heyward. Then bring people around them standing up. . Lots of them. What the hell do you have to lose. This ain't workin.

Well how come the coaches can not MAKE them do their jobs? Too busy being their buddies..

Well, that's what " player's coach" means / does. Also maybe they don't know or Remeber what a real coach does.....

please bring in rex and change the scheme

Rex Ryan made an impact on the Ravens defensive scheme during his time there. An argument could be made that it created a blueprint for the Rats defense today.
What I would like about a Ryan led Defense would be primarily the attitude. This Steelers Defense has talent but lacks intensity; jKeith Butler isn’t intense!
Ryan would also tell Tomlin to butt out That alone would be worth the price of admission!
