Now is the Rooney's chance to fire Tomlin and hire a real coach. /sarcasm
Lovie Smith took the Bears to the Super Bowl with an Assbucket QB.
That's all I'm saying.
Thats a point i love to raise. Unless you brought a coach into a built contender, making any judgement after one or two years is idiotic.Agree. He's not the greatest coach in the world, but that was easily the worst qb ever to make the big game. They had a rookie qb this year, on a rebuilding team. What did they expect? Imagine if in 1970, Dan Rooney had said, "Chuck, you're 6-22 in two years. That's not acceptable. We're going in a different direction."
Got to be more to the story than performance.

Yeah, they want this guy...

Maybe they were more worried about losing Koetter than keeping Smith

I wrote in the other thread: Glazer lost his locker room with this move. The players are really upset about this.
Winston and Lovie had a real connection. Now not only has he lost his mentor, but he's going to get sandbagged with a new offense to learn, setting back his progress.
Steve Mariuchi said he's the smartest QB he's ever evaluated coming out of college, but that don't change the fact that switching systems tends to really **** up young QBs.
Terrible move by Tampa. Shades of Tyrone Willingham at ND.
