Brice McCain?

I don't want any part of Blake and his poor footwork. I'd rather use his money elsewhere.

We drafted Crezdon Butler (#19) in 2010 and signed him to a 3 year deal. Anyone know the specifics for why we waived him the following year?

He was just one of a number of later round CB's that never panned out. Hawthorne, Fredericks, Burnett etc Most of them just float around the league as back up CB's

If we can get for league min., go for it. Signing back Gay sure worked out for us. He would be an upgrade of Blake, at the very least.

Easily an upgrade over Blake. I was upset McCain was let go for such a small amount of money. Not that he's a long term answer, but he's far from the red-headed step child at the position that as Blake was.

Perhaps the Steelers miscalculated on how much Golson and Grant would offer them as rookies? OR perhaps they felt Boykin was better then just didn't play him? 0-2 here on recent CB moves.

Damn, beat me to it....

Crezdon Butler

Crezdon ************* Butler...

champeenship.

.

Absolutely... McCain still has elite speed. Most would have preferred him over Blake anyway. If McCain were to be signed... Blake is done.

.

I still think Blake would be a back up on this roster. Anything to get him off the field though. I still cannot understand why Blake was a starter. Sure he a had a nice showing in 2014. But the whole Blake being a starter and Boykin playing sparingly. That is gonna haunt me as a fan.

Anywho. Sign McCain. I liked him in 2014

I don't even know why people bring up Keenan Lewis. He wanted to play for the Saints and left I don't know why some people seem to hold resentment to the front office for that. The Steelers offered him a bigger contract than the one he signed to play in New Orleans. What more can you do? He obviously wanted to go back home and did.

That's not how I remember it. Yes, he wanted to go to the Saints buy my memory was that he never even was offered a contract. Not that we offered him more money. That is why I hold resentment

We should have said bye-bye to Ike Taylor and kept Lewis. Might have been a case of having too much loyalty to Ike. But the real reason that Lewis left was that it took him so long to develop. His second season was a disaster with people suggesting he deserves to be cut. He hadn't shown enough after 3 seasons for anyone to think he was someone we should lock up for the long term. He just happened to blossom in season #4 when he was set to become a free agent...when that happens the odds of any player sticking around (unless the franchise tag is used) is pretty small.

Yep. You could tell that story with a half dozen names these days. Don't sign player X keep player z. Tough job though to just cut bait like that. I hate the Patriots with every bone in my body, but I can respect their personnel decisions. Loyalty isn't a thing up there

That was fast

Surprising to see crezdon butler close to William gay in that list

I didn't see Butler listed as playing in many games. Makes me wonder why they have him listed that high on such a small sample size or whether I looked at the wrong stat. or if PFF is full of ****....

Man, I'd have loved the Steelers to get him for that price or even a bit more if he could play like he did when he was here.<iframe id="rufous-sandbox" frameBorder="0" scrolling="no" allowfullscreen="true" style="padding: 0px; border: currentColor; width: 0px; height: 0px; display: none; visibility: hidden; position: absolute;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

i ESPECIALLY hate the fact that Blake has Tomlin's blessing, as in, he's in a position of saving his ego and will continue to play him despite how badly he sucks. Champions do not make player decisions based on ego; Tomlin does. I despise that he is so weak to operate in such a manner.

no one wants blake for more than vet minimun and as a 5th CB
