I'd like to see him can come back but I can't blame him if he leaves. He was clearly better than the guys ahead of him but didn't play much. This is another failing of our coaching staff and it's pigheaded ways. Essentially what we have done with this guy is play him just enough to give other teams a look, but let him basically take a whole season to get completely healthy and rested so he can get a payday somewhere else. In my opinion it was a waste of time and money for us all the way around.
How?
Look, I got mad at Blake too, but Boykin was not put in the same situations. Therefore, IMO, a proper comparison cannot be made. He wasn't put in the same situations as Cockrell or Gay, either. When he was in there, he didn't do much more than chase receivers around after they caught the ball. The Steelers have enough of that. I hope they can get better talent to actually challenge the ball more. Bringing back Boykin would not get them any closer to that.
On this one, I think the coaches get the benefit of the doubt. I have a hard time believing in the NFL, where it is all about winning, nothing else, that you would not play a guy who could help you win.
