Bradshaw on MT

you mean the pro bowl QB that threw the game away against the Cowboys, ran off into free agency never to be considered good again?

Interesting Neil O'Donnell trivia. He was a yard short of earning a Superbowl ring backing up McNair on TEN.

When have you EVER seen the Rooneys go after a big league free agent. I have been a steeler fan for close to FIFTY years and I don't remember one, I do however remember losing some pretty damn good player in free agency because of the Rooneus being so damn cheap

On the one hand you're right. The Rooney's usually don't pay big in free agency. Not sure where the deals of Seals and Kevin Greene stand in terms of the era they were signed in. However, do you really believe that if Cowher had told them I only need a decent QB to make it to the show, they would have told him to go take a hike?

You're shooting your own argument in the foot AGAIN. Ben's was terrible in his first Superbowl and no one thought of him as an "elite franchise QB" in those days. Truth be told, he didn't become "elite" until COACH TOMLIN hired COACH HALEY.

You're memory is super foggy, son. You don't seem to remember much at all.

nobody thought of Big Ben as a franchise QB with that rooke winning streak? lol

while you are trying to pat yourself on the back son

both times you have failed miserably.

Like yesterday, after the completion to Rogers (a beautiful catch, btw) on the 19, they could have called their last timeout with 50 seconds left.

And if they had burned that time out there, I would have been yelling at the TV....Why would anyone want to burn their final timeout there? And why would you burn your timeouts when the Ravens had the ball with a smidge under 2 minutes? There is still time.

Them TO's are precious............

Wow. You're really talking out of your *** now. Lots of players can do it for one year. Rick Mirer, anyone?

And did Ben win 15 games his second year? NOPE. We were the SIXTH SEED that year. Skin of our teeth. So no, Ben was not considered the next great thing in 2005. He was a pretty good QB on a team with a very good defense. And back then, you could win that way. Dilfer/Johnson.

I'm starting to think you just don't know that much about football, period.

Ron Rivera being interviewed satisfied the "minority" criteria. Tomlin was whom they interviewed after later. This is conveniently ignored by some.

Ron Rivera wasn't black. I truly can not imagine the **** storm if the Rooneys had not hired a black coach no matter who it was. I have never heard one person scream that there wasn't enough Mexican coaches or owners, can anyone say the same for blacks?????

Personally I just want to win I don't care if they hire a purple gay coach, just be a ******* good coach. With that being said, if anyone honestly thinks that Tomlin wasn't given this job because of his skin color you're just kidding yourself or you have racial blinders on.

^ This dude thinks we should have burned all our TO when the ravens had the ball.

None of us were coaching on the side line, during the game.

No, I know we should have used out TOs. The Ravens had way more time than they needed given their field position. The clock was the Steelers enemy at that point. The Steelers are lucky it didn't take the Ravens one more play to score.

Time and again, clock management is lost on Tomlin. He's the head coach, it's part of his job. He should consider hiring someone to help him.

what a idiot. wow.

You obviously haven't thought this through. The Ravens were either going to score a TD and take the lead, or were going to turn the ball over on downs. They were NOT going to run out of time, they had the ball in our territory and two TOs. They score, and we want as much time as possible: Burn your TOs.

Has it occurred to you that (all other things being the same) had the Ravens needed one more play to score that TD, the Steelers run out of time and lose?

Cowher had more than his share of blunders against inferior teams, and it's amazing that all the fire Cowher threads throughout the years are suddenly forgotten. In 2002 we lost to the EXPANSION Houston Texans, a team that finished 4-12, in 2001 we finished 13-3, TWO of those losses were to 6-10 teams, the Jags and the Bengals, in 1997 we lost to the 6-9-1 Eagles. I could continue... Cowher had more than his fair share of eggs against ****** teams

yeah, because that's how things work...change one thing but everything else stays exactly the same

Well............We didn't get to that point as the game didn't quite dictate that just yet and we saved our timeouts & preserved time......The whole ebb and flow of the game would've changed as well.......

One thing to also remember was Baltimore was having trouble ALL DAY LONG IN THE RED ZONE.....

They were trying to score six points any way they could & as quickly as possible.....period!!!

Good thing he's black because he sure has been a helluva good coach .

Chad Brown to name another.

But overall yes they kept their own.

Slash, Chad Brown wasn't going to stay in Pittsburgh regardless. He made it known that he wanted to go west. Even mentioned his wife complained that Pittsburgh didn't have enough restaurants that served sushi.

true and Woodson was being difficult due to injury. So yeah even the ones who left usually had a reason attached.

A even with this some fans try to throw out the Rooney's were being cheap ****.

I've watched or listened to the Steelers since 1947 and yes I bleed black and gold. I may be an addled old man but I truly believe Dan Rooney picked Tomlin for the same reason he picked Noll and Cowher- because he felt he was the best fit for the job. You are all entitled to your opinion but to suggest you know more about picking coaches than Dan Rooney is about as big a reach as anyone can make.

This season we were 4-5 after losing a tight one to Dallas. Since that game, our coach has done nothing than put this team through a 6 game winning streak, where we needed all 6 games to make the playoffs. Lose one of those games and we're out.

He did it by adjusting the D-Line as we lost Heyward (who may be our best defensive player), and now Tuitt (our second best DL), yet this team is still able to stop the run.

He did it by making Burns and Davis (rookies) full time starters as well as ending the OLB rotation to have Harrison and Dupree on the field nearly every snap.

He did it by rotating and calling up WRs from the practice squad to help fill in our injury riddled WR position (Bryant Suspended, Wheaton IR, DHB just returned to play special teams last game, Coates Fingers-mental, Eli recovered from a foot, Green Concussion). That is a lot of talent to have off of your offense, yet it is still being productive with Eli Rogers, Cobi Hamilton, and now Ayres. Jessie James and Grimble are also showing that 2 TEs can cover Green's productivity if needed, so it was great that they had the time in early in the season, so playing in the playoffs will not be too big for any of these receivers.

There were a lot of moving parts to get this Steeler team to the playoffs this year. One slip up, and we'd be sitting at home pining for what could have been (or even worse, hoping for a Cicni win next week).

I don't understand what makes people underestimate the importance of Coach Tomlin. Perhaps it's because he's so reserved with the media? Perhaps it's because he actually gets excited in games when his players make plays and he celebrates with them? Perhaps it's because he is an aggressive coach in short yardage/2pt plays?

One thing is for certain, we don't make the playoffs this year without him. He has the respect of the team. The team parrots all of his Tomlinisms. They have bought into the Steeler way because of Coach Tomlin. When we were 4-5 on a 4 game losing streak, the ship didn't sink. The locker room didn't revolt. They got back to basics, solidified personnel, and won, and won, and won, and won, and won, and ************* won the division.

You guys can argue all you want on the semantics of good and average. I'm throwing my hat in. Tomlin is a great coach.

I believe Rooney later admitted he should have never let Woodson walk. They offer him a deal. When Rod shopped himself around and couldn't find a better deal he came back and said he would sign for the deal the Steelers offered...the Steelers pulled that offer off of the table and offered a smaller deal. He ended up signing with SF for a million dollar one year deal.

No! You can use your TOs and preserve time or you can save your TOs and lose time. You cannot save your TO and preserve time.

There is no point in saving your TOs for when you're on offense if you're not going to have any time left. That is what could have transpired had it taken the Ravens another play or 3 to score.

Think of it this way: if you need aTD to win and you're on your own 25, would you rather have :10 on the clock and all 3 TOs, or 1:40 on the clock and zero TOs?

That he is not.
He is, however, Latino which also "satisfies" the Rooney Rule for what is considered a minority coaching candidate.

You are confusing objective and subjective.

I'm explaining how a coaching error could have cost us the game, that's being objective. Waiting until after a loss to ***** about a coaching error is being subjective.

You argued my point exactly.......We NEVER got to THAT POINT !!!!
