Bob Labriola says he's been told Gentry is a more physical player than Jesse James

I liked James. He was a worker. May not have been the most talented guy in the league, but he was reliable. And honestly, I'll take reliable any frickin' day! Particularly from the TE spot.

Heath Miller was reliable. He was rarely spectacular, but if you needed 8, he'd get you 9 more often than not. And every now and then, when you needed 23, Miller would get you 42. If not for a completely ****** rule and judgement call, James would have won that cheat game. How they decided he hadn't established himself as a 'runner' after he caught, turned and lunged, I don't know. And how they could argue he didn't make a football move and become a receiver... whatever. Its' one or the other. He never caught the ball period, or he caught it, turned and lunged over the line and even IF you call it a fumble, he immediately recovered his own fumble AT the spot in the EZ.

That was a **** ruling on a **** rule.

Regarding the new TE... You can't coach big. You can coach blocking technique. You can even coach hands. If he runs good routes and is able to concentrate, I am hopeful for him.

So by game 6-6, he will be producing at a clip to about 400 yards for the season? OK, that would be decent, if Vance is going off.

So, by mid-season Gentry will be on pace for 30-43 receptions? Cool.

I wish Jesse nothing but the best. There were times he should have been on the field for his catching ability, for blocking that is what coaches are suppose to be ale to teach, we do not seem to have this type coach for positions. Jesse seemed to be in Tomlins dog house when all you head was James would do whatever was asked. New blood new attitude new style lets hope all the rumors are true,

When JJ began his NFL career he was not very good at anything, including catching. I recall him dropping some easy ones. He probably only made the team because
he was from PSU.

He was a pass catcher at Happy Valley.

Plus he grew up in Pittsburgh. I think that gave him extra motivation and made the team as the 3rd TE.

Do you realize how the Steelers control pretty much all Pitt media? It's actually very lame. If you write something the team doesn't like, they take perks away.

Nonsense. You are picking up on Coach’s habits. The Trib and other publishers including the web ones were absolutely livid when Art2 gave the exclusive interview about AB to the PPG. I know Dejan thought it was bush league by the club to do that and felt additional beat journalists should have been allowed.

Besides, if they “control pretty much all” media how was it all the BS that has occurred in the last 24 months kept coming out with the FO having to provide some response? I’m sure they would have rather avoided any response. Bell’s contract status to sitting out the season, and AB’s antics from the ex wife at his front door to couch throwing and speeding 60 mph over the limit. Sure they really have a firm grip on the Pitt media.....please.

I was never a big JJ fan, but he worked his *** off to get the most out of his abilities, he always ran hard after the catch, but he just wasn't that athletic. To claim Gentry is better now? He'll be lucky to make the team.

Reading is fundamental. Comprehension of said reading is not a high point of yours, eh???

Yawn...
More board pollution from the worst poster on SN. GASHsteel is just jealous of anyone who can cobble together original thoughts, since he doesn't know what that is like.

And, you might want to hit the gym a few times.
You do realize that when you 'quote' someone - you don't need to name them, right???

What is game 6-6??? Here's a thought - take some reading comprehension classes (I've already told you that). Drink said the expectations would be somewhere between games 6-8. M'kay???
