That is the rule Stewey. Helmets CAN'T hit. Even if contact is initiated with the shoulder and he slides up. He has to hit lower. If he hits him in the gut, this is a legal play.

It sucks being a fan of Ward and the 80s steelers where this play never used to register as anything but a devastating block. The rules have changed, and with it, some of JuJu's physicality will be flagged.

Legal hit and very Hines Wardesque if I must say. The taunting? Not so much; poor form Ju-Ju, poor form. The adults will correct this faux pas by the Steelers resident Samoan Warrior! I wonder if Burfict knows that Samoans used to eat the heart of their enemies after a kill!

A lot of homers in this thread. It doesn't matter what you lead with .....if their helmet makes contact with the other players helmet....it's a foul. Helmet to facemask = helmet to helmet

It was H2H and JuJu stood over him and taunted him for quite a while. The H2H was going to draw him a fine. The taunting will easily double or triple that fine. Good thing AB is going to pay it for him. Either way, the taunting was totally uncalled for. Burfict will be coming after JuJu the next time they play. You can bet money on that.

I agree on all of that, but JuJu can knock him out again, too. Goes both ways. I'd expect retribution, but his head better be on a swivel if he's going to dish out any ****.

Seems like everyone in the media is now giving Burfict a free pass to lay any kind of cheap shot he wants on Juju now. How about Juju making up for all the cheap **** he has done to us over the past 3 years.. that's not okay though.

From now on I'd just hit the ****** in the knee. If you're going to draw the flag, might as well put him out of the game too. I'm telling you, we're headed to flag football.

It’s not being a homer. The primary contact was shoulder to chest. As a result of that contact, their helmets did come in contact but JuJu clearly tried to keep his head out of it. Let’s face it, whenever there is a violent hit like that, the flag comes out by reflex but it should not have.

If you are going to call a penalty every time helmets contact each other, you are calling it on damn near every tackle made above the waste.

Contrast JuJu’s hit with Iloka’s hit on AB in the endzone and you see the difference. Iloka went high and directly for the head.

listening to Dan Patrick this morning and his take was that JuJu’s hit was legal (other than the taunt) and Iloka’s was dirty and should be fined.

Of course, Since Goodell is a media *****, he will likely suspend fine or suspend JuJu because Gruden wet his pants over it.
 
As for Burfict trying to grab JuJu’s leg, i did see that live, but if you watch it again, i think Burfict was trying to grab his balls but JuJu moved so he grabbed the leg.
 
No. He hooked Ju Ju's foot on his shoulder and was trying to gator roll his knee.

Ju Ju was lucky he got his foot loose.

I have no problem with the hit JuJu put on him. I think Burfict should have been penalized earlier in the game when they threw the flag on Bell. Burfict started that incident and Bell did retaliate BUT the official was standing right there and saw it all.. He should have penalized them both. Burfict is a very dirty player so AB saying it's karma is true but AB still needs to keep his mouth shut about it. Yapping his mouth is only going to make Burfict want to seriously hurt someone even more in the next game. The dude has already shown he doesn't care about the fines or suspensions.
 
**** Burfict, the dude has intentionally tried to hurt and has hurt players, not just on our team. JuJu wasn't trying to injure, but Iloka launch head first into ABs head/face, that was far worse than what JuJu did.

It was a shoulder block in the chest. He ddint lead his head into the guys face or helmet.

Helmets/facemasks hit together on every play. If he tries to hit Burficht lower he has to lower his own head and risks hurting himself. He used his right shoulder to Burficht's chest and got his head in front of the block like you are supposed to do and the helmets incidentally hit. I don't believe that Burficht was hurt that badly. First he tries to grab JJSS ankle then it is reported that he jumped off the cart.

Nobody disputes that. But there is a big difference between a hit directly to the head and a hit where the helmet collide as a secondary element of the initial contact.

if you did slo mo on every above the waste tackle in that game, i’d bet you’d be able to show helmets making contact on 80% of them.
 
If he was going for a helmet to helmet shot, you know like their safety did to AB in the end zone, JuJu wouldn't have turned his shoulder into him, he would've launched his crown first. He was trying to make a legit block and impact caused helmets to hit

There is a BIG difference between the crown of the helmet coming into contact with the facemask of a defender and LEADING with the crown of your helmet (see: Shazier hit). JJSS clearly LED with his shoulder, not his head. The compression of the pads causes his helmet to come into contact with Burfect's facemask...BECAUSE the shoulder caved-in Burfect's chest. Essentially, he bent Burfect over with his shoulder, so the helmet came down. That kind of hit is violent and painful, but it is NOT illegal.

Listen, I get the league is trying to legislate injuries out of the game, because it costs teams money...but you can't. Injuries are going to happen. Hits like this...violent, clean hits are going to happen. You can't prevent them..its simply physics.
