Hey, 1986 Doug Williams called, he wants his show back.
This my take on the situation and I know that I am going to be BLASTED for it ..
BUT IT IS CAM's Fault ...
his quote was made on January 27th a couple days after the Championship game
Cam Newton: 'I'm an African-American QB that may scare a lot of people' with unique skills

Why even make a statement like that ...
I dislike Cam because he is a narcissist and a phony. He dubbed himself superman and he would do that celebration when they were down 30 points. Then he would pout at the press conference. There was also his college career which included getting kicked out of Florida for cheating on exams and theft, then getting paid to go to Auburn.
He named his kid Chosen. That alone is reason to dislike this guy.
And can somebody tell me why it is somehow groundbreaking that Cam and other Panthers hand TD balls to kids in the stands? Every team does that but the media acts like Cam invented it.
Maybe Cam will invent dumping Gatorade on a coach.
No crime in not liking the guy. I mean, I can't say I "Like" Cam because I'm not generally a fan of the Panthers and don't know enough about him to make a decision one way or another. For me though, since there can only be one SB winning QB and the choice is between Cam and Manning ... well, I've had years (decades almost) to form a dislike of the knob slobbing that goes on about Peyton. So, I'd rather see Cam win.
It sure seems like a crime to dislike Cam the last few weeks. I've heard and read it over and over. Talking heads not outright calling you racist, but they'll say things like, "you have to wonder why people don't like him dancing". Oh look, i'm pointing out possible racism, i must be enlightened.
Then these people will say something like "we need to have a real conversation about race" Then if somebody actually tries to have that conversation, Twitter demands that person be publicly executed for not following the PC template.
Wait....Cam Newton's black?? I thought he was just some super-tan brazilian.
None of this racial BS is going to end until the NFL gets with the program and brings more diversity to field goal kickers.
NO KICKERS, NO PEACE!

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of, so Carson Palmer is better than Rogers and Ben since he made the title game?I had a discussion with a fellow at work who's primary argument is that Cam Newton is a better QB than Roethlisberger based on one statistical factor alone. Cam is still playing this season. All other statistical factors can be swept aside. Newton is playing, Roethlisberger is not. Thus, Newton is clearly a better QB.
.
It was outright disgusting how Stephen A Smith was ranting how Cam is more hated than Brady and it's because he's black. Most of the times Skip Bayless has to agree with him on all racial issues, but it was commendable that he was disagreeing and it was getting very heated.

Like I said, this is Cam's first season with a QB rating over 88, let me see him play very well for a few seasons before I say he's a top notch QB, hell Kaepernick had two seasons with a QB rating in the 90's and he's not even a starter now.
Well, I guess folks could not like Cam for a variety of reasons. It just seems to me that "dancing" after a TD is a silly one. Hell, when Gay danced and crawled to the sidelines where he was wrapped up by Porter like a mother embracing a toddler, not many Steelers fans complained. I guess the reaction to an excessive celebration pretty much depends on whether you are a fan of the team or not. I could care less myself whether Cam dances, Rodgers double checks, Watt swings, Gronk gyrates and spikes, etc. etc. etc. These guys aren't robots and a little emotion is warranted. But, if some folks don't like it they have that right. If the members of the team these guys are playing against don't like it, the solution is simple ... don't let them score.
As for conversations about race. They're pretty much fruitless. One side feels that they're being told to shut up and get over it and the other side feels like they're being held accountable for the sins of their great, great, great grandfathers and judged accordingly. Funny thing though is that the race issue in the U.S. is like an abscess tooth; it's gonna fester and fester until something is done to address it. What that is, I don't know.
