Sounds like Tomlin and Colbert wanted to go with Dobbs and try to hold on, but that's Tomlins call. Ben is trying his hardest not to throw him under the bus.
Said by the time he got back from x-ray, teams were already on the field and Raiders just got the ball by the time he got his stuff back on.
Injury was unknown because of old equipment, but he still received some kind of treatment.
He told Tomlin he'd give him everything he had, and was in constant communication with Coach on the sidelines.
Here's a tweet from a doctor on how long meds would take

Wait a minute, you mean it doesn't take an hour for an injection to take effect like some of the board doctors have proclaimed. This team is a ******* CIRCUS and Tomlin is the ring master.

Can't be true because I saw on here that Ben is a diva and that he didn't protest enough to go in. Also all the Steeler nation doctors knew exactly what the injury was and how to treat it.

Ben was trying his hardest to not throw anyone under the bus, said you'll have to ask Coach a couple times. They had to have some kind of clue what the injury was to know where he needed the injection right?

When will Tomlin be fired and the Steelers stop accepting mediocrity and failure???????????

NEVER, rooney doesnt have the balls or the brains

Yep, I was listening as well and got the same feeling. The man was trying to not throw Tomlin and or Colbert or Boz under the bus, that's for sure. It sounded like Tombert was trying to see what the future looked like with Dobbs at the helm. God help us!

I mean it's really ******* simple. The x-ray machine won't show what an MRI will, but it'll show if anything is broken. The Dr was there with Ben, after the X-ray and examining Ben, if there was even the slightest chance of it being serious, the Dr never lets him dress. He was cleared the minute he left the locker room. They tried to win with Dobbs, there's absolutely no debating that.

Ya know, I don't think now its so much the balls or brains but more as a loyalty to his father who made the hire of Tomlin. I think he has this sense of loyalty to his father and a what would dad do attitude. Unfortunately I think Tomlin will have to call it quits before Rooney fires him. Just my opinion.

I don't think his father would have accepted this mediocrity. If he is committed to a minority hire there are plenty of others out there that could check that box.

He is correct if he indeed received a localized anastheic such as lidocaine...it’s what we use to numb a localized spot. We will never know what he received. But; if he did receive Toradol or even a cortisone shot an hour is common for the shot to take effect if given IM...

I have had Ketorolac (Generic Toradol), injections into a broken rib, it works in about 10-15 minutes MAX.

Says the internet intellect that's never been in the room when a shot was administered...

Remember Bettis before the Ravens playoff game. he got a shot. Why couldn't he play again??

You guys sleigh me! Merry Christmas!!

The Dr. missed his spot with the needle and basically numbed his entire leg, what exactly is your point?

I give them. I chart patients pain after giving pain medication. I’m not going to go into a medical pissing war but it’s what I do for a living. Some folks have an effect sooner than others.

Ben was cleared the minute he left the locker room.

And let's just say the shot needed time.

Mike Tomlin himself said Ben could've went in earlier, so right there he admitted to sticking with Dobbs

Obviously, Bettis was a Drama Queen Diva and he wanted to wait until the very end to prove how valuable he was to the franchise.

On a more serious note... How is Crazy Conspiracy Town lookin' NOW? Tomlin may have been holding Ben out because he's sick of hearing that Ben is the only reason Tomlin still has a job. He had a vested interest in Dobbs doing well. It didn't materialize.

Tomlin put player (Dobbs) above team. His job as a coach is to put the team in the best position to win.

Right or wrong?

At the end of the day, so many things had to go badly (be done wrong) for the Raiders to get the game. Now, as I've said, I expected the Raiders to win the game going in - but the amazing thing is HOW MANY THINGS had to be screwed up for that to happen.

1) The defense comes out unprepared for a well-scripted Oakland drive. Immediately the team is in "catch up" mode.
2) The offense is lethargic and struggling a bit and cannot seem to take advantage of their allegedly superior O-Line vs one of the worst run defenses in the league.
3) After Ben got hurt and then returned, Tomlin fails to put Ben back in, relying instead on what is essentially a rookie QB.
4) Worse yet, failing to modify the offensive play-calling and strategy in order to best USE the young QBs skills.
5) Employing the same faulty defensive scheme that matches Pittsburgh Linebackers on opposing wideouts and extremely athletic TEs.
6) Failing to manage the clock on the Raider's final drive.
7) Ultimately using a timeout AFTER the Raiders had already killed the clock in order to take a moment to set the defense - Which still utterly failed to cover a TE, obviously due to poor communication between players.
8) Failing to provide the kicker with long cleats for the potential game-tying kick.

After the game, he failed to fully accept responsibility for his choices and mistakes. Rather he dodged accountability and threw out one of his dumbest statements to date: "We will absorb the negativity associated with our current position." Seriously dude? THAT'S your whole plan going forward?

I understand what Tomlin was thinking with Ben. He just can't act on those thoughts. If you can save your HOF QB a few hits against a 2 win team yea why not. If Dobbs comes in and just holds the lead that gives Ben a few series off or even the rest of the game off if the Raiders turn back into a pumpkin after midnight. I get it... you just can't do it. Just like all of us guys have wanted to go up to a girl and kiss them (or other things). But you can't do that ****.

The steelers needed that game. It's a conference game and you have to win it. When the QB says I'm good put me in chief then you put him in. You have to think more about the game at hand rather than the game next week. This had as much to do with NE as it did with Ben. He knew the pats*** had lost and that next week is going to be a dog fight if the Steelers have any chance.

I hope this isn't a Dobbs thing. If it is he should be escorted out of the building. But I think it is probably a NE thing.

I think again Tomlin stupidly fell in love with himself. Dobbs came in against the Ravens and threw the beautiful 23 yard pass from deep in his own end zone and Tomlin was lauded for it. I think he again tried to outsmart the room and wanted Dobbs to shine so more praise would be heaped on Tomlin. Again the imbecile failed and put his own desires over the needs of the team. Having a stupid arrogant ******* as head coach has hurt this team for years, finally fans and the press are seeing him for what he is, a dumb ************* figure head who is bad at in game coaching, adjustments, clock management, challenges and of course X and Os. Other than that he is a genius.

It probably ought to be noted that in that last drive where the Steelers went 75 yards for the score and Roethlisberger was 6 for 6, that was mostly no-huddle.

Juuuuust sayin'.

Now admittedly, I was NOT a fan of the pass he thew to JuJu on that last TD. That was mighty close. Fortunately the Steelers got the bounce.

Say no more!

If this offense was as prolific as it’s stated to be, we would have/should have had 21 on the board before BB went down. Def another story

I thought it was a mistake to keep Dobbs over Landry. It's crazy to not have a backup with starting experience. I wonder if it was Tomlin's decision to keep Dobbs and maybe he wanted to play him to prove he was right to keep him.

I think the steelers win that game with Landry.
