Ben to Have Surgery

Ben Roethlisberger Injury: Steelers QB Could Miss 4-6 Weeks After Surgery

"Doc says my knee looked good, but there still was some stuff in there from when I had my bone bruise last season in St. Louis,” Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “He said that might keep me out a little longer than just a simple meniscus tear. Maybe an extra week or so. But there’s no way to put an exact timetable on it. It all depends on my pain and how I feel.”

So the report came from Ben. Nothing to see here.

I'm guessing 4 weeks. Looks like they did a cleanup on top of the meniscus

Lol.

Ben LOVES to over dramatize his injuries- then come back earlier than expected. Just to maintain his 'tough guy' narrative.

I just heard 6-8 months. Sorry, no link, just made it up.

Look on the bright side……..never mind…

Jerry is looking like a genius for drafting Dak in the 4th rd

9-7? maybe not....

Really burnt out on all the injury issues this team has year after year after year after year....

We played how many backup QB's last year?

The bottom line is this team doesn't have the depth, coaching or preparedness to handle injuries. All the teams we've played and WILL PLAY will have injuries, some to very important starters. But it only seems to cause drastic changes in production when it happens to the Steelers.

Losing Roethlisberger isn't what I'm only talking about. It's losing Shazier and losing Heyward and losing Pouncey and losing Dupree and losing Bell.... All seem to be monumental issues to overcome (or we somehow make them to be).

Oh well.... we'll see how Tomlin and the team react. This obviously changes and lowers expectations (both scientifically measured and just fan-based) so Tomlin won't have to win as many games to reach them.

I'll continue to measure and see if he does.

Steelers QB Jones to teammates: 'Don't panic'

Trying to assure his teammates that all is not lost Sunday against the 5-1 New England Patriots, Steelers' soon-to-be-starting quarterback Landry Jones stood up in a team meeting and gave a two-word pep talk: Don't panic.

Lol they should post the full quote, " dont panic... the coaches arent letting me throw the ball at all. Im not sure they will even let me hand it off... im just taking a knee three downs in a row and praying for a miracle."

Ben Roethlisberger has had four stretches in his career where he's missed multiple games. The Steelers made the playoffs in three of those four seasons, including two Super Bowl appearances.

Maybe we go back to the big game.

Before this injury is a distant memory, it may well appear that our man overcame a total knee replacement with a side trip to Lourdes in place for good luck!

Damn. It really feels like more than four

why not just cut it off, fit him with a prosthetic and let him go? then no more leg injuries.

The Dr prob told Ben

maybe two three weeks

worse case 4 to 6 depending on how he heels...

I would be sightly surprised if it took more than 2 to 3................

If Ben truly is going to be out 4-6 weeks. I wonder how much Jets would want for Fitzpatrick now that Geno is starting. Yes, Fitzpatrick isn't great but he's a hell of a lot better than Landry. Fitz would have a lot of weapons to work with, he had a pretty solid season last year and has struggled this season with basically only Marshall to throw to.

Fans have been asking where the info came from that ESPN/Chris Mortensen reported suggesting that Ben "could miss four to six weeks"...

Mr. Rooney was asked earlier today at the Fall League Meeting:

"I think that two to three is what you can characterize as best-case, but that's what we're hoping for," Rooney said. "Two to six is probably a fair range that somebody can put on it."

Mr. Rooney is one of THE most respected owners in the league and not prone to "drama". So for all of those calling Ben a "Drama Queen".... 😉 -- Erin.

Next 6 weeks

New England
BYE
@ Baltimore
Dallas
Cleveland
@Indy

Worst case scenario is they beat Cleveland and Indy and go 2-3 in that stretch. That would make the steelers 6-5 and in this division, that will probably still have them in 1st place or close to it.

If they get Heyward and Shazier back and hopefully Dupree, the defense should take a big leap forward.

Our defense will just slow the bleeding. Our offense MUST carry the team all the way.No Ben, no shot at a super bowl this year. I hope our OL can really step up and be a wall.
