Ben to Have Surgery

Anyone know what Bubby Brister is doing these days?
Remember this shirt?

Injury after injury after injury... now where have I heard that before? Oh yeah... 5 - 0 baby, Go Vikings!

Skol

always helps to have a back-up plan. Steelers clearly don't.

Vikings traded a first round pick to get a former #1 overall draft pick to come in. They had a fairly decent fall back plan. This also happened in pre-season, not in week 6

And if the Steelers had traded a No 1 for Sam Bradford this board would implode

Do you think this will prompt them to draft a QB that they can groom to fill in for Ben and eventually take over for him. I think
It's time we start looking at that.

OLBer/ILber/WR/QB

Trade up in one if the BPA isn't a value OLBer.

Any order after that but yes these four areas will need addressing........

The moment Gradkowski went down(again), they should have had a plan to get someone in here to back-up Ben. Mettenberger shouldn't have been that plan, either. They played Russian Roulette and lost. Hopefully, Ben is out for NE and comes back for BAL.

Um who do you suppose they picked up besides claiming Mettenberger? Pretty sure there were zero options out there.

Who would you suggest that they should have brought in? Seriously, this is the most critical position in all of sports and the quality of the QB position is such in the NFL where you have guys like Brady, Brees, Ben, Rivers, Luck and then the falloff s steep. There just aren't many quality QB's in the NFL but a lot of watered down very average QB's out there. So who do you bring in? A guy like Mettengerger is what your options come down to.

The Steelers must address the position in the next draft and early at that to actually secure a QB that has potential to start for us.

Again, I know Roethlisberger will come back. Sooner rather than later.

But don't you see this as the same old, same old when Roethlisberger hobbles around throughout December not being 100% and we will never do **** except win a bunch of games and lower our draft stock.

We've seen this story before.... He or Tomlin will never use it as an excuse, but Ben will probably wear a knee brace the rest of the way and be 80%, which is better than Landry Jones and likely lead us to the playoffs, but a deep playoff run? No freaking way....

I'd rather they rest him, get him 100% and play our cards from that point. But you KNOW that's not going to happen. It's knee brace the rest of the year....

i'm not too sure if Josh Freeman or Matt Flynn are worth a damn, but they should have addressed this in the off-season or possibly in the draft. It's frustrating we have to put up with Jones again, after all we have seen from him.

Are either even in the league??

Flame away-

if Ben is out long term and Romo is healthy, at least call Dallas and see what they'd want.

Is tommy maddox still selling insurance? Maybe we can get him for a few games. I think Bradshaw has a game left in him? Charlie Batch?

Anyone know what Bubby Brister is doing these days?

Or I would take an un-retired Charlie Batch over Landry any day. Or Vinny Testaverde.

You heard it here first... Landry is going to beat the pats... It will be flukey... Maybe even rigged... And it will convince the FO that he is the long term solution at qb... Because thats the worse case in this matter and we always get worse case

Unless he was born without arms, that's unpossible.

I was plagued with the Cincy game here in Ohio and didn't see the game except for a few highlights. How bad was Mettenberger since I didn't see in the stats that he even attempted a pass?

Not officially, unless he was wearing Ben's uniform. Landry subbed till halftime, then Ben came back in and did a downright good job of imitating a QB with a knee injury. He was not just missing the target and hitting the wall...he was missing the wall too.

Well, yeah, but the coaches knew that since the Steelers have no decent running back, and since the running game was getting stymied ...

I'll show myself out.

Ben has more lives than a cat, and it pertains to both a football season/career and an overall life perspective.

Most people would have been killed from brain trauma in that 2006 motor cycle incident, and he has escaped three or four potentially season-ending injuries over the past five seasons.

He's a trooper.

RUN the **** out of the ball, this week. Lull NE to passiveness, then throw a deep ball...

they can win...
