All I can remember about the Hornets is they were a semi-pro (?) hockey team in Pittsburgh. I can remember my grandfather taking me to a couple of games in the late 50's.
Pipers were Pittsburgh's only professional basketball team. Think Connie Hawkins played for them.

Don't forget we also had a couple of women's champions in their football league................ Just a few short years ago. PITTSBURGH TRUELY is blessed with a great "SPORTS" acumen..!!!!!!!
