Ben is the best QB in the NFL?

top qb top 3 who knows. the only thing I know for sure is when Ben retires we will all realize what we had. great qb. we are so lucky to have him.

Every year he climbs up the list. He should be listed as top three now IMO. Top 4 at the worst.

I don't really think it's up to debate. Tomlin said after the season that BA was staying and nothing was going to change. Then all of a sudden BA is "retiring" and they are looking for a new OC... one that just happens to be from the area. I'd like to hear one piece of credible factual evidence that Tomlin "retired" BA. I've never heard it and I've never heard anybody with any knowledge on the subject say otherwise.

Might even be more important to consider that without Dan Rooney intervention we might not have Ben. Just part of having a great organization.

Chill out Ob you can infer that Tomlin was told to go **** himself BA is out but you absolutely cannot infer that Cowher had to be told to draft Big Ben. What the hell is wrong with you

I think Luck is over rated. Manning and Brees on the decline. Its either Ben or AR.

From a purely sports analyst point of view (not a fans), I would put Brady and Rodgers ahead of Ben. You might even toss Brees in the conversation. I don't believe the argument is whether or not Ben should be named the best.... I think respect is the argument. When are NFL analysts going to mention Ben in the "elite" conversation on a regular basis? dude deserves some f'ing respect. He has been one of the best in the league for years!!! he better be in the conversation ALL the time or I'll not respect the opinion of whatever analyst is speaking.

Good point. Ben should be no worse than top 5 on anybody's list. There is no reason outside of bias that anyone has him any lower. Especially when you hear "experts" talk about Newton, Rivers, Luck etc.. who've never done a damn thing.

It's funny because I was going to start a thread titled

Todd Haley:Mission Accomplished

Detailing how Ben has become a real QB since the BA nightmare came to an end.

Make no mistake this is Haley's offense. As much as Ben likes it to be known that he is calling the plays a lot of the time( to validate his support of BA and downplay Haley) he's getting rid of the ball fairly quickly and staying vertical, which was Haley's first assignment from the Rooneys before BA/Tomlin got him killed. Who remembers the game in San Fran a few years ago when Tomlin put Ben back in the game with a bum taped up ankle so the 9ers could finish him off?

Again make no mistake it was the Rooney's who got rid of BA.

Great move and they brought in the best guy for the job.

BA needed to go, who pushed his fat @ss out the door, is irrelevent to me. Bottom line, here today, I'd take BEN over anybody else, QBing in the nfl. He isn't a nationally known cheater, he isn't an arrogant prick, he has a past but has matured up from it, can throw a deep ball, hits receivers, raises players level of play, calls plays, and can even smile. NUMBER 1 and HOF bound.

Salute the nation

BA was dead to me when I watched a Ravens game a few years ago and the cam was deep QB POV behind Ben.

Roethlisberger was doing a deep drop, the Ravens were rushing 4, the pocket was collapsing like wet tissue paper, this was practically instantly, btw. It was complete chaos There were literally 3 Ravens, including chiclets bearing down on Ben and all you could see were 5 WR jersey backs streaking downfield. Not 1 outlet receiver, not 1 f'n guy thinking "Hey, should I look around and see if my QB needs a valve?"

Just 5 guys running fly routes.

12 yard loss. 4th and eternity.

I was done.

whoever says he isn't top 3 should be banned from this place, period.

Ben is AFC offensive player of the week.

Way to go Ben! To add to this, Ben and Peyton Manning now both have seven games with a passer rating above 150.0, good for second in NFL history. Craig Morton had eight during his 18-year career.

Big Ben won't receive the national slob fest due too his past... That's just the facts. I think Ben is in his own classification. He doesn't have the zip like a Rodgers and isn't as precise as Brady. Big Ben is a football player playing QB. The last 5 years he has learned to really read defenses. Now, he knows where to go with the ball. The thing he does best that sets him apart is his improv. He had that backyard relationship with Holmes & Ward, now he has it with Brown. Fans on a national level and media don't want to put a gunslinging QB as number 1, they want the pocket passer to be the best of the league (Brees, Brady, Manning). IMO, Ben is simply the best "football player" who plays the QB position. He just gets the job done and has done it majority of his career. Look at Cutler and Eli who get sacked at the same rate Ben was under BA, they aren't strong enough to still get the job done with defenders on their back.

Hard to say he's the best given all of Brady's accomplishments, tainted as they may be. I will say this however.... I think Ben and Rodgers would both have more success than Brady if they were to be traded to a bad team like Cleveland or Washington. Brady is a system QB. A very specific type of offense has been created for him and he runs it to perfection. I definitely think both Ben and Rodgers have a skill set that would make them successful no matter what offense they were asked to run. The best example of this is '08... Ben led his team to a Super Bowl title behind an offensive line that may go down as the worst O line to ever make it to, and win, a Super Bowl. Brady would have wilted like a flower behind that line.
