They can see the guys running out onto the field... They can switch a couple DBs in if they want, or they can call a TO. Read the rulebook B*ll.isn't there a rule that if you change personnel on the field, you have to give the defense the opportunity to change personnel too? I could be wrong on that
It's easy for Steeler fans to point to Ben and say he's the best, but honestly, no QB has ever had to work with the line he's had for as long as he'd had to and still excelled like he does.
Now admittedly, Roethlisberger's refusal to give up on plays is part of what makes his line look so bad much of the time, but if you take his YPC over his career along with his completion percentage, he flat out crushes not only his contemporary peers, but he ranks among the top QBs ever to play the game. He's flat out a golden God. And it's not even his YPC, but his YPA that's amazing. (Mostly because of his high completion percentage, of course.) The guy doesn't just dump off long handoffs like another cheating ******* we all know. (I know. Must get a grip on my seething red-hot hatred of that fellow.)
When you compare ALL the statistical categories over his career among all the other QBs both contemporary and historical, it's not even close. Truthfully. He's a freak of nature. Completion percentage, TD to Interception, Yards per attemp, Yards per completion, Number of times he calls his own plays, Come from behind victories, Superbowls, Playoffs, Regular season wins. Number of starts over his career. He's a freak.
Rodgers is great. I'd put him right up there with Roethlisberger. But he's never had to deal with the line play that Ben has and he simply doesn't have the intangibles that Ben has. Fact is, Ben's a gamer. He'll do what it takes to win.
That's my opinion of course.
Give him time and he is deadly.
.I think the addition of Mike Munchak was the greatest thing that happened to this team in years.
There were times yesterday when he had wall. Not even a pocket, a wall to through behind.
He is staying clean & healthy and he looked so comfortable yesterday.
When he is playing like that you have to just unleash him and let him play.
Against the Pats I was screaming . To let your QB play & give him a chance.
Running draws on third down from the 8 yard line or whatever. Antonio trick play, etc.
Don't get cute let your franchise QB throw the Damn ball.
Rodgers has not exactly been playing behind great lines either, as he's been among the most sacked QBs in the league as well, though, like Roethlisberger, some of that is his fault, as he also prefers to extend plays and throw downfield.
What separates Rodgers from Roethlisberger, and pretty much every other QB, is Rodger's timing as a passer. Against the Packers, the back shoulder throw down the sideline is pretty much impossible to defend
With Peyton's apparent decline. I still put both Rodgers and Brady ahead of Roethlisberger.
Look, I'm not happy about all the shady sh1t in which Brady and the Patriots have been implicated, but that's not the reason Brady is so good. It may very well be the reason why he has won so much, but he would be throwing for a shitload of yards and TDs regardless.
Ben is definitely top 3 no doubt. I don't know when the change happened, but he's definitely playing with full confidence. Ive never seen him as comfortable in the pocket, its like scrambling is the furthest thing from his mind now. He's playing better than ever before.
Rooney getting rid of BA is the best thing that happened to Ben. No more holding the ball forever, 5 deep passes a game no matter what, and 7 step drops on 3rd and 1.
1. Rodgers
2. Ben
3. Five yard Brady
You know, if Tomlin wins another SB with Ben, he probably gets serious consideration for the H.O.F. I don't think the issue of who made the BA call will be a determining factor in keeping him out. :idk:
Not sure what you are talking about here. Where did I ever mention Tomlin, HOF or SBs? I simply said that Rooney getting rid of BA is the best thing to happen to Ben.
I agree with this. I'd put Rodgers ahead of Brady and Ben. He can move in the pocket, run out of it, and throw every pass anywhere on the field. He has much better timing than Ben.
This is true, but have someone grab Rodgers.....does he break away and extend the play as Ben? This is where no else does what Ben can . Even at his age he still can muscle himself out of a sack while still looking down field. May be the best ever at this. I may pit Ben and Rodgers at 1A and 1B. I might just be a homer though.
Yep, I understood what you said. I also understood that you are smart enough to realize that someone would probably go into the "old" debate about who really got rid of BA and hired Haley. So, extrapolating from that argument, I brought up another point of discussion. that's all
My thoughts on who is the best QB in the NFL ... Ben is "MY" (Steelers fan) QB, so in my mind, as long as he is performing as he has been, he's the best. Now, will he ever receive that recognition outside of Steeler Nation? Nope. Hell, he doesn't receive that recognition unanimously WITHIN Steeler Nation.
I don't really think it's up to debate. Tomlin said after the season that BA was staying and nothing was going to change. Then all of a sudden BA is "retiring" and they are looking for a new OC... one that just happens to be from the area. I'd like to hear one piece of credible factual evidence that Tomlin "retired" BA. I've never heard it and I've never heard anybody with any knowledge on the subject say otherwise.
Nobody does that better than Ben. However nobody places a ball like Rodgers. IMHO Rodgers is just a better QB right now. But Ben is in the top 3 easily.
