We won a lwoB repuS with Arians, and he's better than Haley. Keep in mind the OL was pretty average under Arians. Under Haley, the OL is great thanks to Colbert's drafting.
Haley has everything an OC would want outside of a TE who can split the seam. Yet Haley is very predictable, doesn't like play action, throws way too many short screens, and for some reason, I'll never under stand likes to take his foot off the gas too soon in games, allowing the opponent to mount a comeback while he should be stepping on their air hose. Haley Red zone blues to me cost the Steelers. We have too much talent to keep kicking short FG's.
How is Arian's better than Haley? His play calling? Hardly, I wouldn't call him the reason for winning SB XLIII . Game planning maybe. But his play calling was getting Ben KILLED because of no set chip blockers. This was why he was let go. He would not adjust to protecting the QB more. He doesn't follow that philosophy. Look at all the QB's he's had since. All injured routinely including Palmer at Arizona.
As for the offensive line? You are kidding yourself. Arians was ranked worse in passing on ranked league average than Haley has been here, and get this cupcake, each of Arian's offense had over 1500 yards of rushing each year. I wouldn't say that's due to a bad OLine. You just drinking the fountain from ESPN and talking heads on the NFL Network. You are not watching tape of the games.
As for stat lines for offensive ranking for
Arians: PASSING/RUSHING Yards 2008 - 17/23; 2009 - 9/19; 2010 - 14/11; 2011 - 13/14
Haley: PASSING/RUSHING Yards 2012 - 14/26; 2013 - 12/27; 2014 - 2/16; 2015 - 3/15; 2016 - 5/14
So you are clueless about who has been better, even with Haley's dink dunk schemes, Ben still has been productive and more importantly. HEALTHY. We still had over 1500+ rushing yards per season even after "Colbert drafting" which is a hilarious statement from you. Since you have skewered him for his drafts. Remember your opinion on Pouncey? Pitt should cut him, average player, always hurt etc, etc. Yet he is the cornerstone of this OLine. DeCastro? Overpaid, blah, blah, blah....
Wig,
That would depend on the game!
Among the questions I'd like to ask:
1 ) The use of time outs
2 ) Sitting on a lead, allowing an opponent the chance to come back.
3 ) Why we play down to the level of sub .500 teams so often, going for it again the odds when we should have kicked it and vice versa.
4 ) The ability to lack there of to make in game adjustments.
5 ) If a rookie QB surprise them.
I could go on...
Maybe Haley and Tomlin could really come back with excellent replies, maybe not. The media in Pittsburgh seldom asked these type of questions, wouldn't you agree? One word replies would not prevent me from saying hold on their coach, what do you mean by that!
Yeah, funny thing is local beat writers HAVE asked those questions. Of which, some are idiotic questions to begin with. Might you watch his press conferences would notice it. Sure he gives coach speak answers, what coach doesn't. But I tell you this, I haven't heard Tomlin give or allow excuses on his players or himself or his staff.
I know you feel high and mighty because you are a contributor now (thanks BTW...finally) .....but, please you are no different now than when you were before a contrib. You can give some good conversations, but when you think your opinion is the fact...time to get of your high horse.
