Ben freaked out on Tomlin and Haley prior to 2nd Q TD

I expected the offense to be a little off, including Ben, but what really bother me is the OLine not looking good, Bryant stopping in 2 routes, and Bell not even looking for the ball on one pass play, went right by him, he wasn't even looking

Look, i hated Arians for the opposite reason we rant on Haley... Arians went big too often... Haley goes small... we need the routes to move the safety that arians thrived on and the short game of Haley inside the red zone... its not rocket science... like with arians teams are taking away the favored stuff and we aren't taking what they give us

He was knocked off balance because Foster was blocked back into him threw off the timing of the play

We won a super bowl with Arians, and he's better than Haley. Keep in mind the OL was pretty average under Arians. Under Haley, the OL is great thanks to Colbert's drafting.

Haley has everything an OC would want outside of a TE who can split the seam. Yet Haley is very predictable, doesn't like play action, throws way too many short screens, and for some reason, I'll never under stand likes to take his foot off the gas too soon in games, allowing the opponent to mount a comeback while he should be stepping on their air hose. Haley Red zone blues to me cost the Steelers. We have too much talent to keep kicking short FG's.

I see Bryant being rusty based on his decision to smoke dope, and Bell being very silly ( nailing cheerleaders when his fiancee is pregnant and working on the hobby ) holding out when he knew what he would be signing for.

How did Bell and Bryant do in a game that could have padded their stats and helped they get a bigger contract? Pretty crappy,

These are Browns, a 5th pre-season game for us, and historical we beat them silly. punt game was too close to call with special teams blocked put providing the difference.

It will never happen, but one day I'd like to interview either Tomlin or Haley after a game, just to see how they answer questions.

It's softball city for the most part in Pittsburgh.

Jesus christ!!!

Outside of the fantasy interview, the rest of what I said is accurate.

Regarding the man you mentioned, some might find it offensive to use it they way you did. Besides he has a real brith name seldom mentioned. By chance do you know it?

I'm interested Coach. What would you ask specifically? what "non-softball" questions would you ask, and what would you expect for answers?

If Ben's head was 7 3/4 and Tuitt's 7 1/2 would they fit thru the door at the same exact time.

their answer

"yes"

The Rooney rule is what you pull out from all this. Really? And I honestly am disappointed with Tomlin with aspects of his coaching....but race NEVER even entered my mind. Sad really.

#no racist, I just think any coach in the league could, and should, win this team, It just seems like the same old narrative every year. I even like the guy, It just seems like the talent is there but the coaching isn't and it starts at the top. Firing the guy would be too politicized due to the fact that people will say "the Steelers got rid of him because of his skin color."

A while ago it was Cowhers players..then all his players are gone and we suck. Then it was get your own players in here. Now its we are super talented( but you get no credit for assembling said talent) and anyone can coach this super talented team. Your head hurt mine too

What I'm not allowed to be sarcastic :) I'm glad we won!

Lighten up, Francis. The last part was meant as a joke.

No Coach, you are not as accurate here.

You can't discredit the ST TD and say we would have lost if we didn't get it. You don't know that. You play the game and the point margin at all times. The game would have been different, but there is no way to say it would have been a loss. That's false reasoning.

Here's another fact. Bryant was one fully extended finger tipping play away from a 30yd TD. Smoking dope wasn't a factor there, it was a great defensive play. It is a game after all and there is another team on the field trying to win.

Bell can't do music and football? WTF is up with that mindset? Music is a release, and something you do in your spare time. I run 3 businesses, play hockey, flag football, and still have time to write music. It doesn't affect a single other facet of my life. So either you don't understand people who are musically creative, or you have a problem with his particular style of music. If the latter is the case, you may be biased.

Not pointed at Coach here, but for the rest of you. I love how you are complaining about a win. Think of how Browns fans would think about the way some Steeler fans are acting here. You are honestly complaining about a win?? We just wish we COULD win!

Also this game was never in doubt, show me where the Browns had the ball with a chance to win the game, and maybe, just maybe you'd have strength to your argument where Tomlin and Haley can't coach.

Oh, and I didn't hear anyone blaming Butler this week. What happened to you guys??????

Wig,

That would depend on the game!

Among the questions I'd like to ask:

1 ) The use of time outs

2 ) Sitting on a lead, allowing an opponent the chance to come back.

3 ) Why we play down to the level of sub .500 teams so often, going for it again the odds when we should have kicked it and vice versa.

4 ) The ability to lack there of to make in game adjustments.

5 ) If a rookie QB surprise them.

I could go on...

Maybe Haley and Tomlin could really come back with excellent replies, maybe not. The media in Pittsburgh seldom asked these type of questions, wouldn't you agree? One word replies would not prevent me from saying hold on their coach, what do you mean by that!

Ill take the win any day, don't get me wrong.

Cleveland could be the worst team in the NFL. We had a scare, and narrow margin of victory with some possible issues with goal line defense. You just can not count on a blocked punt TD ever. Did anyone think this game would be close? History shows otherwise.

We looked like an 8-8 team beating a 4-12 team, not an 11-5 team. That's what I'm saying...

I hear you, and a blocked punt at the beginning of the game is not something anyone can plan for. If anything, there was more urgency for Cleveland to open up their offense after a play like that, yet they still went 3 and out the next drive.

I will say this, the Browns team is a much better team than last year's team. I predict they will give the Ravens some fits this weekend, maybe not win, but I am sure it will be a closer game than the Cincy/ Balt game this week. Last year's Browns team allows us to get that deep TD to Bryant, this one is starting to play better.

If you want to see the WORST team in football, try watching a Jets game. Personally, I think they are tanking to get a top QB this year.

You are probably right, Cope. Hell of a QB class with Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, and on and on.

I don't know Cope, Indy looked terribly awful. They may go winless without Luck.

I'm hoping we get one, but we'd have to trade some picks. The strategy now might be: Is Bell signing with another team and gaining 2 first rounders, worth pairing in a draft to move up and grab a franchise QB? I would think yes, since they are so difficult to acquire. If that happened, it would be well worth giving up the 2 first rounders next year, and the lower 1st round pick for the following year, to move up in the top 5 to nab a franchise QB. I'd even pair in some lower picks to sweeten the pot!

You might be right as well Ike, but this is a franchise that knows you have to tank to get an excellent QB. It worked once, and it could work a second time if they tank again this year.

Great point!

I don't want to turn this into an Anti-Tomlin thread because I think he is a top 5 coach

Should have expected it. The mob is always poised and ready to strike at any opening. Just imagine how bad and annoying it would be if he was actually a bad coach.

How is Arian's better than Haley? His play calling? Hardly, I wouldn't call him the reason for winning SB XLIII . Game planning maybe. But his play calling was getting Ben KILLED because of no set chip blockers. This was why he was let go. He would not adjust to protecting the QB more. He doesn't follow that philosophy. Look at all the QB's he's had since. All injured routinely including Palmer at Arizona.

As for the offensive line? You are kidding yourself. Arians was ranked worse in passing on ranked league average than Haley has been here, and get this cupcake, each of Arian's offense had over 1500 yards of rushing each year. I wouldn't say that's due to a bad OLine. You just drinking the fountain from ESPN and talking heads on the NFL Network. You are not watching tape of the games.

As for stat lines for offensive ranking for
Arians: PASSING/RUSHING Yards 2008 - 17/23; 2009 - 9/19; 2010 - 14/11; 2011 - 13/14
Haley: PASSING/RUSHING Yards 2012 - 14/26; 2013 - 12/27; 2014 - 2/16; 2015 - 3/15; 2016 - 5/14

So you are clueless about who has been better, even with Haley's dink dunk schemes, Ben still has been productive and more importantly. HEALTHY. We still had over 1500+ rushing yards per season even after "Colbert drafting" which is a hilarious statement from you. Since you have skewered him for his drafts. Remember your opinion on Pouncey? Pitt should cut him, average player, always hurt etc, etc. Yet he is the cornerstone of this OLine. DeCastro? Overpaid, blah, blah, blah....

Yeah, funny thing is local beat writers HAVE asked those questions. Of which, some are idiotic questions to begin with. Might you watch his press conferences would notice it. Sure he gives coach speak answers, what coach doesn't. But I tell you this, I haven't heard Tomlin give or allow excuses on his players or himself or his staff.

I know you feel high and mighty because you are a contributor now (thanks BTW...finally) .....but, please you are no different now than when you were before a contrib. You can give some good conversations, but when you think your opinion is the fact...time to get of your high horse.

Our OL was bad with Arians. Period. Ben being Ben and making people miss and extending plays is why we won our SB. Again. Our OL was simply bad.

Either you're trolling, or effed up in the head. Hopefully, even though it's ridiculous it's the former.
