Ben and Tomlin on AB's Celebration Penalties

If the defense returns a TD, they should be allowed to hump the opposing team's mascot without fear of a penalty! They earned it!!

Do you get a feeling that Ben is wanting another championship , as he has been more vocal this year than any other year. You think he is trying to get some motivation in these young players that does not exist? Brown doesn't need the hula hula dances he gets plenty of credit from the league, be a leader make the plays get the wins.

THIS! I like this. Put the ball on the 30 and make it a 47 yard XP attempt. Would Tomlin tell AB to cut the bullshit after one of those????

**** no. Tomlin is the kind of coach who would trot Boz out in swirling rain to attempt a 54-yd fg when down by 4.

I agree with you, but didn't Will Gay dance on the sideline with another player and still get penalized?

LOL! I still crack up at this. He went on for like 45 seconds and he and Porter were crawling toward each other as the ref was announcing the penalty for excessive celebration!

As far as Brown and celebrations go, they don't add or take away anything from the game. I loved his fire pole on the uprights celebration and I love when guys spike the ball. Not necessarily a fan of the twerking or some of the ridiculous dancing, but whatever, they're having a good time. I'm cool with guys setting the ball down or tossing it to the ref, too. Having a 15-yard penalty, the same foul that you call for a head shot over the middle of the field is too extreme. Have a quick celebration and get off the field. No harm, no foul.

However, since the NFL rules are in place, AB and others should respect the rules. If it's going to get a flag, don't put your special teams in position to give up a 50-yard return. It's really not that difficult to tone it down. Likewise, guys like Bell and others shouldn't join in knowing the consequences.

It's juvenile and egocentric. I would expect and condone it from Pop Warner but I have a little higher standards for a professional athlete, making millions of dollars playing a game in front of their fans. Grow up kids, stop lookin' stupid and hand the ball to the ref...then get off my lawn.

I just had a thought, do other pro athletes act like this when they score, do they gloat and preen when they make a basket, goal or hit a home run ? Just sayin.

I hear what you are saying but it's a different sort of intensity. Remember 1 nfl game is equal to about 10 mlb games so thus the 10 x celebration intensity........... I'm near in your boat, celebrate but get it done with out a penalty. Pretty simple

Ummm, have you seen the NBA? You'd think they won the lottery for dunking a ball, or hitting a 3 pointer...

You know, Ben was also did a radio interview, he said he feels that AB is being targeted by the league. He said during the Redskins game, a ref came over and told Brown that "everyone is watching". He pointed out that AB has only gotten his penalties in higher profile games, such as the Thanksgiving day game. He also said that Brown didn't even know he was penalized until he got to the sideline and talked to Ben, and that AB was shocked. And I agree, I've seen MUCH MUCH more "choreographed" dances with teammates than the handshake that AB and Bell did, and in no way did that deserve a flag.

It's also why AB tamed his celebrations after his second and third TD grabs.

So this whole "stop the look at me" he doesn't care about the team crap. AB cares, Ben cares, Tomlin cares and he didn't address it AGAIN because he shouldn't have had to address it again as it was a bogus penalty.

I don't have a problem with it when they are winning, not excessive mind you but here and there. When they are losing STFU and put that nose in the dirt and turn things around for the better.

ALSO, why the heck isn't TOMLIN following up on this. We talked to him once and figured it has allready been said, so he (AB) knows. WTF coach?????

An example of why this guy sucks as a head coach. No accountability. No follow up. Imagine parenting like that?

Are you kidding? How about hockey and soccer? They act like they just won the lotto for $500 million after goals.

After following up and reading more things about AB and his celebrations, I have to retract a little bit. He is more down home than I had thought. He is VERY passionate about the team and where they are headed and wants to win. He does some things that on the outside does look like attention grabber. He is being held to a higher standard than others in the same position and is being targeted. I think it's the STEELERS uniform as the "rog" doesn't like it and has always held a grouge on the CBA voting. Due respect for Antonio Brown, the player. SUPER glad he is on our beloved STEELERS team.

He's a great wr, but he's a me first guy plain and simple. He has a show on a local radio station here on Tuesday nights, from 7-8, and the earliest he's showed up for it this year is 7:30.

I agree DIC, I think AB is our most passionate player on offense. He makes big plays and pumps the crowd up. However, when he scores a TD and we get a penalty for celebration, the TD is kind of taken away from since the play ends with a negative instead of a positive. This is something Ward always got right.

The celebration level is definately something needs to be addressed as to how it is penalized. One is OK for one player TD celebration is NOT ok for another player. When William Gay got his celebration penalty, it was deservingly so. He was on the field and it was excessively over the top. Not defending AB but his latest was a little excessive by the officiating. WHY can't AB just score, jump up and down with a VERY short dance, then finish his celebration completely on the side lines. This weekend all the players get to wear cleats that show their personal charity endorsement. Curious to see AB's and such.

He wants the media to call him Ronald now????

Q: AB, what about your cleats this week?

Brown: It’s top secret. And now you guys call me Ronald.

Q: What other players do you (pay attention to when you don’t play them?)

A: Ronald. I’m watching Ronald every day.

Q: Any lingering effects from that hip injury you had a couple weeks ago?

A: There’s effects against Ronald everywhere.

Q: What’s the whole Ronald thing?

A: I can’t tell you. It’s top secret. It’s my new name — Ronald. From now on call me Ronald. I can’t (explain). It’s top secret. From now on, address me as Ronald.

Ronald as in Ronald McDonald?

hehe

I love AB, he's one of the best but I really respect the WRs like Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson who you hardly ever hear anything from. No celebrations, strictly business.
