Ben and AB health updates

Technically, all sprains are fiber tears.

Yeah, I don't think it's anything we didn't already know. It was already known it was a sprain since Sunday.

Bottom line, he'll play.

Its no secret his shoulder is hurt. Nothing to lose by disclosing his shoulder injury specifics.

Just saw on facebook that there is a ligament tear ..

Ben said AB was feeling great today, but AB doesn't come in until 1 to do whatever tests he needs to do.

On ESPN's app, there was a tweet last night from the NFL (didn't identify a name) saying that Ben is looking good for Sunday but AB is NOT. I still think it is too early. Today should be the first true updates we get from the team. Not that the updates today will mean much either. I think we should have a pretty good feel after Thursdays practice as to whose going to do what.

That report is coming from a reporter named Bob Holtzman, who cites an unnamed source. Look him up, he is based out of Cincinnati. My guess is either his unnamed source is Pacman Jones, or this is wishful thinking. How could you say "it doesn't lol good," when AB hasn't even gone through one test yet. This report came out on Monday evening. A report like this wouldn't have any credibility until at least Thursday.

Exactly, AB doesn't even report until 1pm today to start the concussion protocol.

I am sure you are aware by now...that Pacman Jones is a world renown neurologist.

That goes hand-in-hand with a shoulder separation / AC joint sprain. Regardless, it's still fairly common for QBs to be able to play with that injury if it is grade one / not so severe. Ben had that injury a few years ago (Mario Williams of the Texans caused it in game 1 of the 2008 season) and he played through it.

It's also supposed to be helpful to your recovery time if you've already had the injury before --- I'm not a doctor and I have no idea why, but just reiterating what a doctor told Stan Savaran on the radio yesterday.

This is stupid. These talking heads ruling AB out on Monday night and he hasn't even had his first test. These guys should write soap operas' since they are all about drama and suspense rather than just write that AB will be going through the concussion protocol and his first test comes Wednesday. No, they have to make these stupid ******* predictions and make it sound like its fact. Jagoffs!

If brown was really bad, he wouldn't be on snap chat, twitter, etc. That's a big no no when a concussion is bad, no phones, TV's or bright lights

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger Suffered AC Joint Sprain, Torn Ligaments

Ben said that he sprained his AC joint and tore some ligaments in his shoulder in the second half against the Bengals, after he was sacked by Vontaze Burfict.

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – QB Ben Roethlisberger says that he’s still working his way back from injury, and isn’t sure of his status for Sunday’s divisional round game against the Broncos yet.

“It didn’t hurt when I reached back to throw,” Roethlisberger said of his heroic late-game drive. “But it was pushing forward to throw and then the end of the throw. So I definitely felt like I was shortening up my motion up a little bit, which is why we threw some screens, and couldn’t really get the ball down the field… I think it just more affected how I could throw it.”

“It’s definitely sore,” Roethlisberger said. “I think it’s a little bit better than it was, but we’re still going to just take it day-by-day.” He followed up with more details on his timeline for recovery.“I’ll go in tomorrow with the intent to see what I can do,” Roethlisberger said. “I honestly don’t know. I haven’t tried to throw a football since the game, and maybe that’s not even the right thing to do right away. I’ll see the doctors and trainers tomorrow, we’ll evaluate kind of how I feel. If anything, maybe I can practice and hand off and still get some mental reps that way. So we’ll really just kind of see how it goes tomorrow.”

Too much drama, he'll play

My cousin told be he read Ben has torn ligaments and is out. Anyone else hear or read this?

That's pretty much what the Doc in the twitter link I posted was saying. There's no way Schefter could even know about AB's condition for this Sunday when the final concussion testing hasn't even been completed yet.

Well, not necessarily. Even if the "official tests" weren't administered, if he is showing signs, as reported, of blurry vision, dizziness, throwing up, etc. we already know he is not in good shape and not likely to play. As a matter of fact, the fact that he was knocked out cold already tells us he received a severe concussion. My wife had a mild concussion, and she had a bad headache for over a week, and she had none of the symptoms of a more severe concussion, such as loss of consciousness or throwing up. Brown won't be playing if he still has any symptoms by Sunday.

According a chat with a reporter from a newspaper we are not allowed to direct quote, AB is going to play and most likely Ben is as well. Usually they err on the pessimistic side, for example for the Browns game they said there was 0% chance Ben dressed for the game.

Your cousin read incorrectly. Nothing said he is out. If anything, everything is saying he will play.

I should add that chat ended only 30 mins ago, so it would appear to be latest information.

How would Schefter know what AB's physical state will be on Sunday when the final concussion test is on Friday?

Pro Football is reporting Ben says he has torn ligaments as well.....

I guess we will see what happens.

Dr Ben is all about the drama - he's doing all the diagnosing - we've heard it a thousand times

He'll play

An AC Sprain means there are tears. Grade 1 or 2 means small tears. Ben is prob Grade 1. Rest it until Friday and he will be fine to play.

He will play, but if he can't go deep, and they will know it, he won't be very productive.

According to DK • If you don’t think AB and Roethlisberger will play Sunday, you haven’t been paying attention. They’ll play and play well.
