Bell taken off official dept chart

he is a excellent player in terms of talent and versatility he does not offer the same value as mack or Donald, mack you can line him up anywhere Donald any DL spot and probably OLB as well, yes well can line up as a wr be real threat in space for wheel circle routes but we have seen it is easy to find those type of RB's for to use as recievers Danny woodhead did it for years, james white Dion Lewis Khiry asRobinson as far as full time RB Murray J.Lewis were guys that could do it all.
any day I take a Donald or mack over a bell it completely gives you so much more options on D

Hines, he's listed at the bottom under Reserve/Franchise Player

Correct he's franchise tagged, but he's not on the active roster. No contract, no roster. When he signs his tag after week 10 he can be on the roster,

Week 10 it is then. Lets see how little love he gets when he comes back.

my prediction

Ben will get hurt holding the ball while teams smother AB in coverage and the offense struggles to score

Dobbs will be our starter by week 6

I think he's irrelevant right now. A very, very, stupid man.

Run Conner hard until week 11-12, insert fresh Bell.
Championship!
Great cap space in 2019

Bell won't run hard even when he does show up. He already used to run out of bounds or avoid contact as much as possible. He will avoid contact at all costs now.

So bench Conner at that time? I damn sure wouldn't want to make that decision.
I didnt mean to bench Conner, just that fresh legs on Bell, who would want/need to earn a big FA paycheck, would be a great asset towards playoffs, when Conner, yet to be the bell cow, may get tired/worn down. Maybe not. Line up Bell in slot, at TE, in backfield, wherever.

12 up site shows big bad Bell out Monday night late showing off all his beautiful expensive jewelry, at some night club. Article mentions Bell continued dis respect for the Steelers as well as fanbase as he parties with his new friends. If and when he returns and if the Steelers stand behind him, I truly hope Tomlin does not allow him to run out with the starting offense and if so the fans at the game boo the living crap out of this guy.

I don’t see the issue anymore. Running back by committee is good at this point. Ju Ju, AB, Washington and the TEs will keep the defense honest against the run.
I worry more about coaching and game readiness at this point

I predict they need to find the middle of the damn field and keep going there if other teams want to play press and double cover AB. We also need Washington on the field to break plays. They will learn to respect the offense and Conner will eat up yards this way

I have serious concerns that even if Bell showed up ready to go that he would fail a drug test...his mega ego is making him mega stupid...i.e. hold out, party, potentially getting his *** in trouble *smh...its a pity the org has to put up with this just for the possibility of multiple 1st round picks

Just read an article about why Green Bay should trade for Bell and offer one of their 1st (they own NO 1st) for him to help Rodgers and Co win now. I find that a terrible scenario. Why would we allow Bell to go to a team where he could win a championship when that is why we have held on to him. Seems to me, and maybe I am F’d up for thinking this way, but we only trade Bell to a team that isn’t a real contender but will offer top trade for him. We get him out of Pittsburgh and he gets to prove how good he is behind a Oline that isn’t as good as ours. Wonder how that money will feel when he is getting rolled over every week?!?

If we are shopping him and that is the only offer? bye.

But I prefer that he goes to a team that we would get better compensation. As GB like the Steelers usually picks on the tail end of one.

Bell is a former Steeler they have rights to. That's it. He's just lost 1.7 million in pay so far over this. He has to be high. I'd make sure to do some hair follicle drug testing should he decide the Steelers are now worth his precious time and services.

Go Conner!

GB’s line hasn’t been one to watch lately. Maybe he should get a chance and get to know running behind average blocking for once.

Even if Bell does sign a big contract next year, it won't make up for the money he is losing this year. Let's say he sits out 4 weeks. I believe that would be about 2.5 million lost. It's not like his next team will do a contract then say, let's add an extra 2.5 on top to make up for last year.

The other thing he can't afford is if Conner keeps playing at a high level and puts up stats that match or exceed Bell's averages from 2017. Then teams will be thinking it's the steelers offense that is leading to big stats, so why pay big bucks for an aging RB with 2 strikes in the drug program and injury history.

Bell says he's holding out because he's afraid the steelers will use him too much. I don't think that would have been an issue. The reason he got so many carries was because Conner wasn't ready last year. This year is clearly different. Conner probably would have had 100 carries as a backup.

If BELL signed today he would have to show he was better than JAMES CONNER before he played, regardless of what "drama" QB had to say about it. Unfortunately we don't have a HEAD coach who could make a decision like that even if his SB depended on it. 1st or 2nd or 3rd straight up they pay cap and it's a deal,..........BYE BYE BBBbbbbb BYE

Salute the nation

And Tape, you're right. The number would be closer to $3.5M lost though it's $855k/wk.

If Bell came back, if I was coaching, he wouldn't start. But I would make him the 3rd down back. He is best at pass Pro, and a big threat to either run or catch out of the backfield. That's how you work Bell back after an extended hiatus. Plus it ***** his numbers and legacy. This is all on him. He gains nothing by holding out, and each week, he loses money, stats, and team support.

I marked my calendar for October 30, that is the last day a player can be traded. If he comes back after 4 games, the Steelers can still move him after he signs his tender. If he comes back after the cleveland game (game 5) he needs to sign on Monday to be moved. Otherwise the Steelers will have him for the season. This may be a tactic for Bell's agent. To report after the trade deadline.

But if another team is willing to give him a little more than his remaining franchise amount, which is legal within the rules, and still give up draft picks to the Steelers, it's a win-win. Steelers gain top draft picks, and the agent saves some face by recouping some of the pay lost by holding out. Plus he still sets up a huge pay day for Bell in March.
