Bell Released

We could sign him to an incentive laden contract and then cut him. Give him like 50 bucks guaranteed.

Our running game is total crap. Neither Snell or Conner will get us anywhere. As it is now, this team is gone in the first round of the playoffs.

Get Bell at a bargain and we're there.

This is good news for Bell. I'm sure he's already gotten his guaranteed money. Any team is a better situation than the Jets. Not only are the Jets terrible but their coach is an egomaniac who didn't use Bell on spite.

Gase is a terrible coach and from day 1 he complained about not wanting Bell as if Gase has some sort of earned reputation for talent evaluation or coaching success. This guy would rather hand the ball to Frank Gore for 3 ypc instead of Bell.

The Jets have no WRs. They let Robbie Anderson leave. Another great call for Gase. Their planned #1 guy Breshad Perriman is injured. They drafted Denzel Mims and he's injured. They have 1 decent WR Jameson Crowder but he's just a slot guy. Aside from Crowder they had a good TE Herndon and Lev Bell and he outright refuses to throw it to Herndon or Bell.

With those WR injuries, the whole offense should be based on throwing to the RBs and TEs along with Crowder. Nope. Bell only had 3 targets in 2 games.

And even if you hate Bell, the Jets have a couple of young RBs Josh Adams and La'Michal Perine and they barely play while he features Frank Gore.

You pro Bell people, you're assuming we're getting 2017 Bell

2018 Bell gave away a step he didn't have room to give away by setting up shop on Miami's beaches and getting overweight. 2019 Bell tried to get that step back by losing weight. However, lack of true football conditioning and playing time made that impossible.
2020 Bell, was setting up to be a cancer on par with 2018 - 2019 AB and the lost step, questionable motivation, etc. etc. etc. makes him not worth bringing in here.

I would not sign Bell. I want to see what McFarland can do as a 3rd down back.

The team who may sign Bell is the Chiefs. Edwards-Helaire has just been so-so. He's only averaging 4.2 per carry and if you take away the first game vs the Texans, he's only averaging a terrible 3.7 in the other 4 games. Bell is a perfect fit in that pass first offense. He can pass protect and be a weapon in the passing game. I bet they sign him quickly.

That's what you want to do ? Ben's career has maybe 1 year left ? Maybe 2 ? And you want to just see how McFarland can do ?

That sounds kind of familiar to what I heard people saying about Conner two years ago. The guy has evolved into nothing.

Get Bell in this offense and it's twice as good.

Conner is a good RB. It's not like the steelers are deficient at the position. Bell could contribute as a receiving back. I think McFarland can as well. The Steelers have plenty of weapons in the passing game. Bell may make the team a bit better but i don't think he'd be a game changer on the steelers.

Honestly- I would bring him in at minimum and send Samuels to the PS or trade him. Use him as a rental and that’s it. If he helps win a few more games and the championship then it’s worth the season rental.

so he ******* when he doesn't get all the carries and passes he thinks he deserves?

on sunday I saw a lot of McFarland on the field, even on blocking assignments in a couple of TDs, so he does a bit of everything and doesn't complain, rather keep current #26 active than bring the former to poison the locker room

Poison the locker room ? I don't recall Bell ever being a problem in the locker room. I don't think he was ever a problem outside of contract negotiations. This isn't AB we're talking about here.

I don't think the jets agree. And he did cause an upset in the locker room when he said he would sign the tag and then backpedaled, the rest of the team took his word and were waiting for him, I do remember Heyward as a team leader speaking about it being an akward situation counting on a probowler that bailed on them.

Seems we have a different mindset from our players at the moment. Team first type of guys. I pass on Bell unless we are late in the season making a strong push for another ring and the injury bug hits us. Even then I probably pass.

Dude showed up for practice when he felt like it. Late was his middle name. We are back to the team first mentality. Let's keep it that way.

I agree. If we truly want to win. Bring him in...

Bell is better than the rook and JaySam...

Screw him. I so glad the Steelers could not sign this cancer.

BELL has lost a 1/2 football step. With his delayed run style that doesn't bode well. WHY would we want our OL to have to learn to block for his style of running? To many kinks to consider him especially when we seem to be doing just fine without the risk he brings. CAP is also an issue. The boat is full speed ahead, let's not rock it.

Salute the nation

Geez......don't want him in a Steeler uniform for sure......hate to see him in a Patsie jersey too.

Bottom line LB isn't the same runner he was and has lost some of his MOJO too.

If Bell hadn't chimed in with Big Chest about Ben's leadership, I'd say this could happen. With the running back room being what it is and that on top of it, I think not.
“The organization wants to win. Tomlin wants to win. Ben wants to win—but Ben wants to win his way, and that’s tough to play with. Ben won a Super Bowl, but he won when he was younger. Now he’s at this stage where he tries to control everything, and [the team] let him get there.

He adds: “So if I’m mad at a player and I’m not throwing him the ball—if I’m not throwing A.B. the ball and I’m giving JuJu [Smith-Schuster] all the shine or Jesse [James] or Vance [McDonald] or whoever it is, and you know consciously you’re making your other receiver mad but you don’t care—it’s hard to win that way.”
