Bell Released

If the upper brass of the Steelers have kept asking about a trade with the NYJ- then they obviously feel that he may have something to contribute. I wouldn’t be suprised to see them kick the tires and try to bring him off the waver wires.

He's a vested veteran. He doesn't have to clear waivers. In fact, as of 4 PM today, he is an unrestricted free agent.
I've heard rumors about this trade scenario where the upper brass were asking about a trade with the NYJ. However, I've not seen anything to back those rumors up. Trading for Bell would have made no sense because they would have been on the hook for the prorated portion of his guaranteed salary this year AND the rest of the contract if they decided he was a keeper at this time.

I wonder if those extra 46 attempts might make Conner's numbers look somewhat better? Yes, I know, Conner is NEVER going to average 25 rushes/game. And right now, we don't need him to. But, the numbers do show that he's doing very well with the touches he's getting in comparison to one of the top backs in the league.

BELL isn't the same player some here Remeber. For one thing he would never get the same amount of touches as his previous time here. He also would require our OL to completely change their blocking style (not happening). ALSO we have good playmakers as WRs. BELL can't carry the load he once did when he was with us. For those who don't think he has lost a 1/2 football step, watch some of his current touches........ You'll see it.

Des Bieler of the Washington Post actually wrote an article about why Bell’s release made sense for the Jets. Does it need explaining? Are people really confused about why a team would release a highly paid player that wasn’t playing well when he was playing at all?

because CEH has looked awful aside from week 1. He's not good at pass protection. He's not a factor in the passing games aside from dump offs and he has not looked good on rush attempts either. He is not breaking tackles of making people miss.

The chiefs lost because they defense dropped 7 and 8 in coverage to take away big plays. This is when you need to make them pay with your run game and CEH has not been able so far. Defenses have noticed and that's why they are comfortable dropping guys in coverage.

CEH has looked terrible in redzone opportunities as well.

Bottom line is CEH is simply not ready yet to take such a big role in the offense and they really don't have a backup. They really need Bell.

Pure speculation on my part, but Bell craves the bright lights, hence signing with a team in NYC. His personality would fit Miami more than Buffalo or KC, but you're right it will all come down to the money.
