Even back in the fold, the whole organization took a hit in my book for signing him.

Being away from the game was a nice breather for me but I'm not nearly as into in this off-season as I normally am. I'm not scouting college players. I doubt I'll put a big board together.

I'm just a bit tired of being in disagreement with Tombert on too many issues. I loved the team in 2006 and that magic season just kind of re-lit all the fire I had for sports. I studied. I learned. Got really into roster building and the draft. But the Tomlin era has kind of pissed me off so much, I'm out of it now. A decade of being engrossed with it is enough.

The Vick thing was probably not the only straw, but it was a big final straw that put me way over the edge for supporting the team. I wrote my letter to Art and let him know.

Now he's gone, I'm back. But I'm not 100% back to where I was. Not even close. And I doubt I will ever be. Maybe some point down the line when Tomlin and Colbert are long gone, I'll be interested in the team building and GM work like I was, but not right now. That's probably over for me for a while.

Yes the Tomlin era had been so ******. Two Super Bowls, one trophy, and non winning seasons. Granted the playoff win draught wasn't fun but we were still alive until the final games.

Sanctimonious ******** much?????

Maybe. BUT

At the end of the day we are all steeler fans.. Some people on here will vote Hillary or Bernie. (shudder) Theyre still steeler fans Del, Im glad you are here. Your draft and player insight is valuable and im thankful to have it. Now Just vote Republican and we can put all this behind us. :D

I had no problem with Del's decision. It was extreme. But on a board with a bunch of extreme fans, so be it.

Besides my dislike for Vick, the mans skills were obviously declining. He couldn't throw this and that pass......

And I can just imagine what those declining skills would have looked like this year..........

At 401 pm I did the dance from the replacements. Goodbye and don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

I don't have a problem with his decision. Glad to have him back and we can move on.

And coolie as far as Vick let's not forget how hand cuffed he was. . They didn't give him much option and it was obvious they wouldnt let him go downfield with the ball and that was the only thing left he could do

I don't think that backup quarterback is that high on the Steeler "to do" list, if Ben misses more than 4 games the season probably isn't ending the way they were hoping. Landry Jones can go 2-2 with the weapons and an improving defense. I hope the Steelers don't give up anything including money for a backup QB, just my opinion.

Papillon

they should have handcuffed him to the bumper of the team bus.

We've been pulling all the right strings in free agency so far. I'm confident we will do the same for whoever the next reserve QB will be. And if it means Landry is the backup and someone else is #3, maybe even a draft pick, then I'm okay with that. Starting to wonder if they'll take a shot with Hackenberg if he's still around in the 3rd round.

I'm not going to **** on Vick too much. Sure he wasn't very good, but he did come through in some key moments for us when we needed him. On a personal/character level - everything I've heard is that he was nothing but a professional here. He paid his debt to society, so while I am disgusted by what he did, I am not going to sit here and hold it against him or boycott the team or whatever. Wish him well moving forward

I'm sure they handcuffed him when he was arrested. Anyway, this is old news. He was here for one season, played a couple games, got one win and will just be a distant memory very shortly.

i watched the nfl combine when they had the QBs on there.
Hackenberg's passes were ****.
Wentz has the strongest arm and Lynch is next.

Reports are that the Steelers like Dak Prescott.

why? did you watch him play at all last year?

Ive watched him play over a few years. I think he is a good backup. Better than any backup qb's on our roster for sure. Im not saying he's Ben's eventuall replacement. I'd rate him as at about or maybe slightly above Gradkowski.

I like him too, but he will have to be drafted by the 4th and we have too many needs before back up QB in my opinion.

We don't need a TE early, now, but we still need CB, S, edge rusher, NT and a back at some point.

Denver needs a QB.

I think Vick's biggest issue wasn't the grasp of the playbook but the simple fact he couldn't hit the side of a barn if his life depended on it.

I think it was a playbook issue. The physical tangibles are still there. The running and arm strength. Vick wasnt the best decision maker with the ball in his hands. As much as we bag on Landry, he has the smarts, just not the physical tangibles. So all our backups have what Ben has but lack as a complete package which is what Ben has

LOL. Did you actually see him play last season?

Yea, and your stand make a difference? In that time did you do anything that really mattered? Like rescue a dog or donate to an animal shelter? I hope so, or it was just for show.

Since the Steelers signed VickI have donated approximately $150 to shelters and rescues. I would love to be able to be a foster and plan to look into that in the future. His signing did raise my awareness of Pit Bull abuses and causes.

That said...I still think he lacked remorse. I've seen quotes he's made that pretty much back that up. He's not even a great QB anymore or a good fit for our offense. I'm glad he's gone. bye bye.

So Vick helped to push you to make a difference. That isn't so bad is it?

It isn't bad that I now choose to make a difference in this area. A big reduction in respect for my only team for the last 44 years was pretty hard for me to process. The Steeler's haven't been perfect but it seems like they used to have some standards when it came to character.

I don't really agree with this honestly. The "Steeler Way" has mostly been a product of us fans.

As for the Vick signing....I disliked it, but mostly for his lack of football skill at this stage of his career. I had issue with Vick when he came back into the league and as the years have passed so has my disdain for the whole Vick saga.
