Are we allowed to discuss Tomlin yet . . . .

this team needs a cleansing from top to bottom. From the GM to HC to coordinators to the players that are not there to play and win as a team. This team doesn't scare anyone and is considered a talented team in some areas, but a total mess in all others. The last two games, they can't keep teams under 40 at home and tied CLEV (in bad weather). Wait until Ben is gone. It's going to get a lot uglier before it gets fixed.

Good article.

Comments for the article spot on as well.

To sum up: Every sentient being on earth, except apparently three, including polar bears, deer, antelope, cattle, horses, cats, dogs, fish, mollusks, and single-celled organisms on Io, knows Mike Tomlin is a ****** coach. The only three sentient beings who don't realize this astoundingly obvious choice are Mike Tomlin, Dan Rooney, and Art Rooney II.

While I agree with you.. are you implying Dan Rooney has some say in what’s happening in 2018?

No disagreement. But sadly at some point in time you have to look at the head coach. This isn't a 3 year run of "wash rinse and repeat." This is going on damn near a decade of the same story every year.

The record v sub .500 teams alone tells the biggest story to me. At least in the past we'd rise up against better teams.

I don't disagree, but the Steelers, barring a 180 don't fire coaches.

That is the biggest issue I have with him. He can not adjust the X and Os.

He is like a running QB (one who runs instead of scrambling to pass), looks nice for awhile. Until you learn that won't get you what you desire at the end of the tunnel.

This is a money post. Kelce torches them. He always torches them. Yet they do nothing to try to at least make it tough. What the **** was the first round pick of not for that scenario. He can't fix anything that doesn't fix itself essentially. It was tre same with the oline. Nothing could be fixed until Munchak fell in their laps.

I've been done with Tomlin since his failed attempt at unleashing hell. And how long has that been. It's always been a cut below the best. I don't care what anyone says with some better coaching this team might have at least 2 or 3 more lwobrepuS appearances.

All you had to see is what happened last year after the most pathetic playoff loss defensively I have ever watched by the Steelers.

They got rid of the offensive coordinator........

I think Haley was a Ben not getting along decision to let him go elsewhere and not renew his contract. I don't think it was too much more than that. But in the process they should have let Butler beat feet.

And the new college coaches don't get a pass yet. I need to see more, but I am leaning to say every D coach can seeya bye. But most definitely Butler. I have seen enough there to know he just doesn't get it.

2 Dlinemen is plain stupid. You put three monsters there and push that pocket upfront

Sorry to digress from the thread, but its good to see you posting, Litos. I know things are pretty bad down there. If you get a chance, post a status update in another section of the board. Lots of us are thinking of you.

(we now return to the thread topic)

Its too bad we don't have Burgundy's "Word of the Week" contest anymore. This week would have been a great week to do it. I'm thinking "below the line" gets at least 4 mentions.

Or is that still racist?

Any fans of the Candy man song? Just cue the music, and tolerate average lyrics if you can....

Who can take a season full of promise? Sour all the joy. ( Chorus sings sour all the joy ) Mix in some lousy game decisions that will surely annoy. Its another loss with 42 points against oh boy. The Tomlin man can. Oh, Tomlin man can.

Who can hire coordinators? Turn them into goats! ( Chorus repeats turn them into goats ) Have them exit Pittsburgh on a sour note. The Tomlin man can. The Tomlin man can 'casue he'll fire those he hired to make himself look good.

Oh, watch him argue. Hem and haw. ( Chorus sings Hem and Haw ) Get busted for stepping on the game field & it's just another flaw. The Tomlin man can. Oh, the Tomlin man can.

Who's has a team full of divas? ( Chorus repeats full of divas ) That don't respect him at all! He'll take away the locker room games. And threaten to unleash hell. Like broken record it won't go well. The Tomlin man can, oh the Tomlin man can.

Let's talk about clock management. Or the lack of making coaching adjustments on the fly. ( Chorus sings lack of adjustments on the fly ) Lose to teams with bad records like stinky lemon pie. The Tomlin man can, Oh the Tomlin man can. The Tomlin man can. Because he'll make changes without any change at all.

Who's 3-6 in his last nine playoff games? ( Who's 3-6 in his last nine playoff games ) And nearly impossible to fire? ( Chorus nearly impossible to fire ) Make the fans bleed black and gold, he's like a vampire. The Tomlin man can. Oh, the Tomlin man can.

Remember the last super bowl win? With Bill Cowher's players an all. ( Chorus repeats with Bill Cowher's players and all ) That was in 2009. Ten years later sunglass like Darth Vader still in charge. The Tomlin man. Oh, the Tomlin man.

If we have a losing season. After going 13-3 ( Chorus sings 13-3 ), Maybe Mr. Rooney will grow a pair and let the fans shout with glee. Then the sun will rise. I see another Lombardi in my dreams. It can happen with some action, make addition with subtraction pretty please. Yes Art Rooney can. Yes Art Rooney can.

We tolerate your below average posting isn't that enough.

Maybe that will sate this constant need for attention.

It is kind of interesting how much he dislikes Bell as he is sort of the internet version UV him.

Thinks he is better than he actually is, and loves to hear his own voice.

Always? Last year's 4 catches for 37 yards would strongly disagree with you.

And Coach Z's work on the 08 line (the worst in the league) won a supe bowl due to his coaching up as the season progressed. I will admit that Munchak is far superior, but you can't revise history here.

Is this like a Captain Obvious post? I recognize this. Even stated it in my first post in the thread - "But I realize the Rooneys will stay the course. I'm sad for all of us because the course could go on for a long, long time. And this may have been a bad hire."

If and when Bell comes back Tomlin will really be looked at. He has not addressed AB's actions yesterday, he has a defense he put together that is always a work in progress as we have give up an average of 32 points. We have a defensive coordinator that no one knows, with an organization that up to now has had a good reputation on being competitive. Yet we do not go out and get a coordinator with a pedigree or secondary coaches that can teach fundamentals as tackling, coverage, blocking that we seem to have a weakness for. So is it Tomlin's ego or a non caring organization, just concerned with revenue. It is truly hard to watch and comprehend where this team is heading. We looked bad last year in playoffs and we had to come back way more games to win last year than with the so called talent should have. So if we blame players than we need to look at coach and Colbert that now has drafted them. When needed we have not addressed what part of the game we lack in, , when we still draft offense when we need defense. Yes it may be a offensive league but it does you no good to score 37 points and the defense gives up more. We don't know all the ins and outs of what goes on at half but when you do as yesterday, energy spent to tie the game you question what Tomlin does at half time. KC came out and basically ran the same plays as first quarter and with the same effect scoring 21 points with a little time gone in fourth quarter. Tomlin can talk but as we watch him on the sidelines he is speechless in games with the pouty lips showing and SEEMS not to do one thing about changing anything. A lot of head scratching of fans that follow the Steelers not the media on game day that stroke Tomlin as great.

I don’t believe that. I thought he was a good hire at the time.

What impressed you the most about Tomlin's hire at the time?

You seem like a fairly intelligent guy, so it couldn't have been the fact that the Vikings finished last in the league in pass defense during his lone season there in Minnesota as their defensive coordinator.

I liked what I heard and I trusted the Rooneys. Continued to feel good about it for a few more years. I imagine most of us did.

So, basically, they could have hired anybody at the time, and you would have trusted the decision. Even though the numbers indicated otherwise. It's tough to finish last statistically in a 32 team league...in any category.

Not me. I never liked the hire. Never felt good about it. Felt they won the Super Bowl based on the heroic efforts of Ben, Santonio, and James Harrison; it had nothing to do with Tomlin's coaching prowess.

They've had moderate success in the 2010's in spite of Tomlin, not because of him. I've known it and been saying it for years -- now even staunch apologists are starting to see the light.

Antdrewjosh has been notably absent lately. Maybe even he is having second thoughts. Nah, probably not.

When Tomlin was hired I thought he was a good hire. He acted and sounded like a good coach. The first year I gave him a pass because he was a rookie coach. Second year we won the Super Bowl, but I was still not impressed with his actual coaching abilities. It has basically gone downhill for me since then. Just the same things year after year. We have under achieved given our talent level.

What do you mean? Should he go? Of course he should be gone. Did we not learn nothing from Herm Edwards? How long should a head coach lose the confidence of his team? Never and he's lost it. AB walking out, the team is split, LB still a no show is all on him, defence is horse sh!t etc.

My question was why are the Vikings letting him go. A friend of mine is a hugh Viking fan and he couldn't give me a strength of his. I'm still lost for why they picked him except for the obvious. That was a big gamble.

No, I said I liked what I heard and trusted the Rooneys. Belichick didn't exactly light it up as head coach in Cleveland, so stats don't always tell the story, especially when Tomlin only spent one year at MInn. Anyway, I've been consistent about my opinion of Tomlin over the last few years. You won't get any argument from me. You were right if you really felt that way back then based on one year at Minn.

Checked the record. Sure, in one year at Minn his defense was last in pass defense, but 8th overall. When he was D backs coach at Tampa before that, they led the league in total defense and won a Super Bowl. Decent creds. Still, Tomlin sucks.
