Are we allowed to discuss Tomlin yet . . . .

Showing my age here. The "Emperor Chaz Noll" was named Steelers Head Coach in January of 1969. I was a senior in High School. Under Nolls guidance the team took on a personal and galvanized the 'Burgh during a time of economic struggle as the steel industry began it's decline from the top of the employment opportunity list.
I can't imagine the 2018 Steelers even existing during the era of "the Chief" and HC Chuck Noll!

And conversely I can't see Chaz coaching today. The game has changed. Back then teams owned your rights, unless they released or traded you. No Free Agency, no Franchising. Now the players have much more power and leverage to get things done for them. It's turned from a team controlled league, to a power struggle between owners and players. That breeds more selfish teammates, so Chaz just can't come in and clean house anymore, because the next guys drafted will turn into the same thing.

If the Steelers go 0-2-1, the pot reaches a near boil as the Steelers will likely need to win 10 of their last 13 to make the playoffs.

Over the last 5 seasons in September our record is

7 wins, 10 losses, 1 tie

This shows me the coaching staff did not prepare the players and needed extra time to figure things out.

Our talent is such that the record in the regular season isn't what we should be judged on.

The Tomlin man is 3-6 in his last night playoff games. Maybe is we started faster we'd have a better seed and chance to advance, or maybe not judging on how often we lose at home in the playoffs.

This season has a different feel. Bell does not want to be here, AB skipped a day. The defense, a mess. Special teams, another mess. If we go 0-2-1, a recovery is unlikely, and while that sucks, maybe we can get to root of the problem and find a head coach that us better organized, adds more value on game day, commands more respect from the players, and above all else doesn't lay eggs in playoff games.

Do I think we win the Tampa game? My heart says yes, my head likely not. The team often needs to have its back up against the wall and the Monday night lights on to respond. So if history is an indicator, we've got what the doctor ordered.

Tomlin getting canned might just be wishful thinking. The way the organization is run, I could see Butler leaving first.

Must have an awesome Nov/Dec record then right? When all the teams are playing well and prepping for playoffs?

I wonder if the decline and loss of Dan Rooney has a lot to do with the overall health of the organization as well. Not sure about who is currently at the helm of our ship.

Maybe not, some minority owners wanted Tomlin out at the end of last season and he does not have a lot of time left on his contract. A losing season, or no playoffs combined with the players, who might have issues with him ( AB, possibly Ben ) could be enough.

What a bungle. And people wonder why Harrison was disconnected.

Art The Deuce has been running things for a while since Dan shuffled off to Ireland although you may recall that a few years ago after Dan's bud Bomma was elected they restructured the team to keep a potentially increased inheritance tax away from His clutches, under the pretense that it's okay for YOU to pay inheritance tax but not US. This led to several more partial owners involved in the team and while they may not have controlling interest, as a bloc they may have some say in how things are run. Presumably they are not happy with 3 playoff wins and no SB appearances in 8 years either. That's a lot of lost TV and merchandise revenue. Just sayin'.

Tomlin has taken the mystic of what the Steelers stood for, to the team everyone knows what we will do. We have changed offensive coordinator and yet do we see anything different. Tomlin changed the defensive coordinator and yet we see the same defense. From a team that was known to hit to a team than cannot tackle.
