Right team doctors and team trainers. Who runs the team Ike? Are you trying to tell me Tomlin can't declare anyone out for a game? Come on man.
If a guy is clearly OUT its an easy decision. But when he's questionable, its the coaches' decision. Its unwise to rush some injuries such as a hamstring back into action. Tomlin didn't do Dupree any favors either rushing him back, and I think he was a game too soon with Tuitt.
Reading comprehension. You sorely lack it.
Nowhere did I state in my post MT can't declare a player out of a game. If a player is on the injury report, the CBA has protocols that require the medical staff to determine if a player can participate in practices and/or games. The coaching staff relies on the medical staff to determine a player's availability. The HC can declare a player out due to anything (suspension, violation of team rules, conduct, etc.), but if the player is on the injury report, then the player has a health issue that impacts their ability to perform. The HC decision on player health is deferred to the medical staff. He can deactivate a player if deemed healthy by the medical staff, but he can't play him if he hasn't been cleared by the same medical staff.
Gilbert was removed from the injury report, therefore released by the medical staff. Since he was available, a starter, AND the fact Gilbert said himself he was good to go, why wouldn't you play him?
Oh, that's right, you are smarter than the medical professionals.
Dupree wasn't on the injury report either, his issue was pain, not structural with the shoulder or arm. Anyone who knows the game or has played it will tell you pain is part of the game. You have to have a high threshold, or you are in the wrong profession. His issue was probably deemed pain tolerance related. If he could handle the pain you let him try to play.
Tuitt, as explained, had a different injury. It was related to lifting weights incident during the week, not the original injury to his leg.
If you are going to place blame on someone, look into the mirror first. Read the facts before you post.
