Anyone who thiinks these FO EXPERTS are so smart.......

My gawd you're dumb as a stump. His contract is the problem. If he were paid in the 3-4 mil range I don't think many people would expect more of a return but as it is we pay top dollar so it's not unreasonable to expect better play.

that's just absurd too. 3-4 million range? come on

So what was the problem on his rookie contract that you couldn't shut up for two seconds about how bad he was? As one stump to another.

Oh and 3-4 million LMFAO. You are too much. That knocking you hear is reality wanting to come in.

Too many people concentrating on his salary cap hit, forgetting that we've restructured him, pushing money into the future, thus giving him this huge cap hit. The contract he signed is actually a very good contract for what he has provided us with. It was a 6 year 47m deal with only 11m guaranteed, that's a hair under 8m a year on average. Navarro Bowman signed a 5 year 45m deal, Jerod Mayo signed a 5 year 45m extension, 25m guaranteed, Brian Cushing signed a 6 year 55m with 21m guaranteed (let that one sink in), Demeco Ryans signed a 6 year 48m deal before being traded to the Eagles, Daryl Washington signed for 4 years 32m and then was suspended TWICE...

Keep on bitching about his contract, I think it still looks pretty ******* good.

What you are missing is when Colbert restructured his contract he got more money up front. So his 11 million guaranteed is bullshit. He restructured in 2013 and picked up $6.7 million just in up front money. Every dime of that is guaranteed.

Still less guaranteed than all those other contracts I listed.

glad you enjoy it... I don't

What's sad is the folks that point to tackle numbers and think he's some hof candidate.

Yeah, exactly what we said. Way to go with reading comprehension. You Are The King

5 years and 40 million dollars for Torrey Smith. Holy ****. When Bell and Brown go free agent you might as well forget about it. These numbers are so stupid. They have a lock out to try and control salary and the owners and gms just can't help themselves. Smith has been over 1k once. Ridiculous.

Drew Brees is the standard by which all free agents should be judged.

Brees was not a huge free agent signing. At the time, he was recovering from a major shoulder injury and many questioned if he'd ever be able to play again.

In fact, Nick Saban passed on signing Brees for the Dolphins because the Miami Doctors advised against it (or at least that's what Saban claims to cover his ***).

There's a What If for you. What if Saban signs Brees and the Dolphins start winning? Maybe then Saban doesn't have to tuck his tail and go back to college. Bama then hires Butch Davis, who was hired by North Carolina that year. It would have been the logical hire and likely would have led to 0 titles and more sanctions for Bama.

Stupid signing. Smith is a poor man's Mike Wallace, one trick pony. They probably could have gotten Mike Wallace for that money. Or just sign Heyward Bey for minimum.

Yes but more than the $11 million you listed. Plus it throws almost $2 million a year in dead money into the next 3 years.

Timmons is the best player on our defense. He has gotten a **** rap on here from the day he was drafted. His contract may seem out of hand, but the market dictates what they get paid. If he stops getting the job done they will cut him like they do everybody else. There isn't a single team in the league that doesn't have players making more than they probably should. For being average and all the flaws that get pointed out, you wouldn't think he would get a single All Pro vote, let alone four. If nothing else this place has been good for laughs the last ten years or so.

Timmons is good not great not exceptional. His best attribute is he plays nearly every game and is rarely hurt. He has had some issues with a high ankle sprain I believe early on but since that he has been very reliable from an injury standpoint. He has had over the years what appears to be several plays that he ran to a spot on the field only occupied by him missed coverages etc. He has also made some very good plays as well.

In looking at one of the recent guys in the past, compare him to James Farrior. Which would you rather have in their prime, James was a much better player even though he may not have been as physically gifted. The steelers have had lots of real good inside linebackers over the years and most of them would be much better than Timmons, that does not mean he is hot garbage just a notch below the real good ones we have had for years.

I clearly see what is there. And what is not...

Congrats, you are 1 of 4 people still posting on this site who in 2015, that still see that (AKA, the only three people stubborn enough to refuse to admit they were wrong and didn't know what the hell they were talking about all this time.)
