Anyone who thiinks these FO EXPERTS are so smart.......

Hey anybody on this board think Jordan Cameron would make a good back up te??? Imagine brown, Bryant, Heath, Cameron, and bell in the redzone.... Ben could have a hall of fame year with another good red zone target.

I agree, be two years just like Mike Wallace. Paying out crazy money and still 9-7 or 8-8 and no playoffs.

Already tossing Ellerbe too allegedly. Remember when that huge offseason was going to turn it all around? Me neither.

They will get a much better return on their dime for Suh than we are for Woodley... Or average Timmons who is paid well beyond his play.

****, they can have both of those clowns give me Suh.

deljzc nailed it with his post.

Any predictions on when Miami tries to trade away or release Suh and his bloated contract? I set the over/under at 2 years.

Big difference between the Wallace signing and Suh signing. Wallace was good at one thing, put up big stats in our Arians offense, but anyone who saw him week in and week out knew that he wasn't going to be a #1 WR. He wasn't going to expand his game, get better at running routes, be more precise, and suddenly have elite hands. That was a dumb signing.

Suh on the other hand IS an elite talent. He will stay on the field for running and passing situations. He will stabilize the interior of their line and make Wake and Jordan that much more dangerous. He's also going into a system to which he fits (unlike with Wallace). They will prob try to restructure after three years, but I don't see them trying to dump him at all.

The over paying comment is a good one for all positions. Most of the qbs are way over paid for what they do. The nice thing about suh is he will be playing Tom Brady twice every year!

Suh isn't Haynesworth.

Exactly...while I do feel that the money is a bit excessive - the kid does not have any off the field issues and he commands a double team EVERY time he's on the field. I really do hope that he goes to Miami - because Cheryl's pic is just HILARIOUS!!! Can't wait to see Marsha trembling twice a year when she see Suh and Wake coming after her!!!

I like Cameron too - he is a bit fragile - but, when he's healthy - he's a beast...

Without question. But when one player "elite QB being the exception" eats up over 12% of your cap space, the team suffers. That's why good franchises avoid cap buster deals like this. Even if Miami has the space now, this will effect their ability to build a solid future roster. A couple of mediocre seasons and I can see Miami trying to unload him.

Not if the cap keeps increasing like it has been. The NFL's revenue stream just keeps growing and growing, as long as that continues the cap will also continue to grow. In 2012 the Salary cap was 120.6m, this year it's 143.2m.

Or the next bell. If him and Bell perform the same way next year you would pay about 1000 dollars per yard for bell and about 10000 per yard for Lynch. Likewise, The Hawks paid about 600 per passing yard for Wilson and the Steelers paid about 2400 which is why the Hawks defense was littered with 6 and 7 million dollar guys and the Steelers had ****.

How can you compare apples to oranges. Wilson & Bell are in their first contracts. Just wait till Wilson signs his next one?
just wait till Bell gets into his 2nd or 3rd contract. Things will look a little different.

Point is this, the Hawks are where they are because they were paying $600/ yard passing. They could afford a ton of 6 million dollar guys on defense. Now they have a running back that is costing 12 million compared to our guy who is at 1.3 or something like that. If their QB is payed 3/4 of what Ben is paid, the pendulum will swing. And already they lost their number 2 corner.

This reeks of a GM worried about his job. I can't see paying that much for a guy who is not a high sack producer. Suh is an upgrade over Odrick, but I'd rather have Odrick at their respective price tags. Or I'd rather have Odrick plus the 3 other guys you can sign for the same price as Suh.

And what do they do if Tanneyhill has a breakout season? Then you have to pay him big bucks.

I would love to see a list of guys where the team jumped out of the gate and blew the bank on one guy and it worked. In my opinion you will end up with a bloated player who just doesn't give a **** anymore he has cashed all the dollars and goes soft.

Wouldn't that be barely second team? Lol

Ha ha, saving some face as per usual. Still not too shabby for Average Timmons. You might want to update that to "Well Above Average Timmons" for accuracy purposes. Last I checked, they didn't put "average" players on the 1st OR 2nd All Pro Teams. Hence the title "ALL PRO"

Last big free agent to go to a new team and truly deliver on his price was Reggie White.

I guess you can argue Manning, but his deal with the Broncos was not huge by QB standards.

What about Revis?

I can give you an example of going South- Woodley , Mike Wallace just two name two.

Drew Brees is the standard by which all free agents should be judged.

They also took a chance on players that people felt were busts, they had a bunch of rookie contracts on the books, and they had some late round guys really pan out. It happens to all teams. They paid Sherman, they paid Thomas, they paid Lynch, and they still have to pay Wilson. What's gonna happen? Someone gets cut, players start bolting (a la Maxwell, Tate, etc). This whole analytics b.s. is about as valuable as the draft is predictable.
